I must point out though, to everyone with whodunnit theories, that it
needn't be one of the Nerima crew.  There is every possibility that it is

of kids who might possibly be suspects just by virtue of that weirdness.

Nah, I wouldn't do that. I already made the declaration in my teaser for
"Stigma" that I wanted to do a story where one or more of the Ranma 1/2
cast was a serial murderer. I'm quite sure everyone would hold me to
that.
