Nobody knows the real reason why Eva-04 took the entire
NERV installation with it when it vanished off the face
of the earth. Official word has it as an open ended mystery.
Popular rumor has it that during the startup tests, it all
vanished into a Sea of Dirac, similar to what happened
to Eva-01. 

The truth is weirder than that.
