This morning, out of a sense of scientific curiosity (and, admittedly,
out of pure boredom as well), I decided to go through the current Viz
graphic novels (1-11) and tally all the instances of Wielding a Mallet
with Intent to Bludgeon.  My findings, and bits of "Mallet Trivia",
follow:

Akane - 6

First Attempted Malletting - Kuno Kodachi, attacking Akane from ambush
First Successful Malletting - Happosai, bonking P-chan on the head

While Akane is, unsurprisingly, the chief offender in this case, she
doesn't wield a mallet until volume 10 - the 'Kairaishi' incident. In
that story, she clubs or tries to club Ranma about three times, but only
after using every other weapon in the dojo.  Most often, in all the
previous stories, she prefers to use whatever's at hand - a tennis
racket, a bokken, tables, serving trays, a thermos, a rock statue, and
what have you.

What does it mean?  Probably nothing.  Like I said, I was bored. :)
