There seems to be a universal misunderstanding of the term
'continuation'. When I used the term to describe a certain type of fic
(such as Shampoo 1/2), I am referring to a fic that never ends, or a
'never-ending fic'.
Which you never made clear, despite the fact that 'continuation fic' in
the mind of every single other person who responded has meant 'a fic set
after V38'.
Semantic philosophers would love you, sir. You fulfill every theory
about the confusion of debate through the misunderstanding of terms.
When a fic has several dozen huge chapters that seem to have nothing or
little to do with anything important, you know you have a
'continuation'
fic. These are worthless.
Considering the great difficulty you appear to have with definitions,
Gubby, perhaps you ought to make it clear that in your opinion,
continuation fics (defined by you, as far as I can see, as any long fic)
are worthless. I say this because it appears to be an opinion almost
unique to you, and you state it like it is a scientific truth.
I have nothing against fics that pick up from the end of the manga
(though these tend to be bad in any case).
Gubby, I think blanket statements like this are what make absolutely no
one take you seriously as a commentator, a writer, or anything else.
Against your brand of C&C, I can only again say that I do not agree with
you, but I will defend your right to behave as you wish on the list so
long as you do not violate any of the rules.
This is the last I have to say to you on the topic, because I and others
have generated enough spam about this, and we are not going to
accomplish anything by continuing on this topic.
Ciao,
-Alan Harnum
