The feeling was pretty unanimous: pre-readers are a good thing right now.
But what was interesting was that almost everybody who advocated
pre-readers also said that they do so because the list itself wasn't
providing enough C&C.

WHY NOT?

Thoughts?

As somebody said, public C&C tends to degenerte into SPAM.
People probably started avoiding publically posting it and sent it
privately due to this fact. While Public C&C gave a good indication
of whether or not a piece was getting C&C, private C&C doesn't, and
people would often say "Eh, somebody else is probably doing it."
And so on and so forth, until we've reached our current sorry state.
As interesting as the point is, I think the focus should be
concentrating on returning to the old FFML, where people posted
public C&C. If it comes down to it, stick a little post-it at the
corner of your monitor that tells you to do a Public C&C of the next
fic you read. I just stuck one on, and am waiting for the next Ranma
fic (sorry, but that's all I'm really familiar with...)
As the saying goes, "Somebody's gotta start it..."

	lack of C&Cing...
