Well, I just saw the Truman Show (it just arrived on base here, and no,
it's not playing offbase in Japan yet), when my mind sank back to the
conversation earlier this week about minor characters.
So then, I decided to whip up a challenge, and see if anyone will rise to
the ocassion. The challege is thus. Take a minor/background character
from a series (an established one is nice, though you can use a minor
character from one of your fic series as well), and create a story about
them, and how their little niche in the world is. Maybe, how their life is
when the main cast is nowhere around, or maybe how they feel about hat is
going on around (well, maybe not exactly around) them.
This is an excellent chance to give yourself a new spin on your writing, or
a new dimension to character development. At worst, it's a new fic for
you, or a sidestory to your series, right?
To lead it off, I submit my own tale, set in the Tales of Shampoo/Beyond
Nerima Cycle continuity, and based on the life of someone you'd think was
forgotten: Kurenai Tsubasa. Admittedly, I sat down and wrote it in an hour
(I think it shows, too), but I'm sure you guys can do much better than me
at this.
Good luck, and happy typing!

Akane sasuran? tint should glow--
That, indeed, I know not.
