"The Last Slide"

The lab was busy. People in long, white coats scurried to and fro.
A number of computer terminals were spread about the room and a row of
large, dark cylinders stood against one of the walls.
Suddenly, because these things tend to happen without any warning, a
blue portal appeared in the middle of the room, two feet above the
floor.
The portal flared and four people dropped to the floor.
"Well, did we make it this time?" Maggie asked.
Looking around, the sliders noticed that none of the technicians
seemed especially interested in their arrival.
"It seems that they're accustomed to sliding, at least," replied
Quinn.
"Quinn? Is that you?"
The sliders turned to see a woman in a lab coat, glancing between
Quinn and Colin.
"Mom!" Colin gasped as his mother caught his brother and himself in a
hug.
"Colin! Quinn! I'm so glad you've come home!"
Maggie interrupted the family reunion. "Look, I know we just got
here, but we really need the weapon you used to drive away the Cromaggs
from your world."
"What? That old thing? It's right over here."
Releasing the brothers and allowing them to catch their breath,
Quinn's mother walked to a nearby terminal and punched a few keys. One
of the dark cylinders along the wall became transparent and the sliders
stared at its contents.
Rembrandt found his voice first. "Hey, man. What is that thing?"
"That's our secret weapon. We like to call it 'Minmei.'"

Notes: I'm sorry. But, it had to be done and someone had to do it.
The new season of Sliders has a lot of overtones of "Superman" in it
and that got me to thinking about Sliders/Anime combos.
