Can't answer much on SM but I can answer some of the school questions.

Not quite. Saturday is a half day of school and Sunday there is no school.

Besides being year long they have three main breaks each of about a month.
March into April (end/start of school year)
July into August (summer break)
December into January (to celebrate New Year)
 

6) Ah, here's one last one: Why are there two different types of school
uniforms?
Just kidding with that one. Still, I'm curious- there's Sailor Uniform type
and one other in what? And bloomers are gymnastic clothings, correct?

Not sure on your questions, but FYI, uniforms change from school to
school. You can tell where someone goes to school by the uniform they
wear.

Whoever decided to have school in Tokyo in the middle of July should be
shot! (Perhaps Principal Kuno had some input on this ;)
