Is there ever any indication in Ranma 1/2 of where in China Jusenkyo and/or
the amazon village are supposed to be located?

Yes. In the second episode, Jusenkyo is said to be just below Mount
Quanjing, in the Bayankala range, Qinghai province. I'm not sure about Mt
Quanjing, but the Bayankala mountains are real (as is Qinghai province, of
course). They're on the border with Tibet -- in other words, Jusenkyo is a
LONG way inland.

Qinghai itself is a very high, mountainous, inhospitable,
sparsely-populated area. Rather a good setting, in fact.

There are different spellings and forms for all these names, of course -- I
have atlases that call the mountains the "Bayankalashanmai" and "Bayan Kara
Shan", for example, and the Britannica prefers "Pa-yen-k'a-la".
