Continuity, Continuity, Continuity. If Genma is Ranma's mother, then
who's Nadoka? Why does Soun wail the passing of his wife if he -is- the
Nodoka used to be Ranma's father--who turned out to be an uncle of the
Kunous.
He was splashed with the water from the Spring of Drowned Righteous
There's a problem with this whole idea ... Aro Hiroshi already created
a manga on it. ^_-;;;
In Futaba-kun Chenji, the main character comes from a family of
gender-benders. The first chapter, where Futaba is greatly surprised
by turning into a girl, ends with him returning to a family which
surprises him by being proud he's come of age (he didn't know of it
before), and his father says something like, "You're complaining
after *I* went through the trouble of pushing you out!".
(That, it later turns out, is the norm with the Shimerus; Futaba's arranged
fiancee who arrives a lot later in the series mentions she thinks
Futaba will make a good mother, much to his disgust).
In general, FKC is what Ranma would be if Takahashi was male (lots of
fanservice) and on speed (a comedy even more frantic and deranged,
strange though it may sound); in other words, highly recommended. ^_^
