Hey all,
I was musing over one of my original characters from my recent story, and
out of this musing I created this piece of fine work, and decided to let you
the audience behold this wonderful piece of art.
[Bastion swells out his chest and beams with pride. Then he slumps over and
looks wearily at the audience]
Oh who am I kidding, if you like, let me know, if you don't, tell me why.
BTW this is intensively based on my first story Timelords, if you don't
have it, I'll be happy to fill out request.
Enjoy.
[Cindy is trying to sleep, but seems to be suffering from insomnia]
The blonde woman tossed and turned trying to desperately to catch some
sleep that had successfully avioded her most of the night. She eventually
gave up and laid still upon the bare cot, staring up at the smooth white ceiling.
After staring at the ceiling for a minute she noticed that the ceiling was spotted
with small specs of black. She decided to pass the time by connecting the specs
together to form imaginary images. The woman smiled to herself as the activity
reminded her of her childhood, the last time she remembered using her imagination.
The last time she remembered using her imagination was when. . . was when. . .
Suddenly a random memory of her childhood overwhelmed her;
She smiled with great joy at the shape that appeared to her. The clouds
so marvelously rolled to create the most fasinating of things.
"What's are you up to Xendyte?" came a deep curious voice.
She turns to see a lanky man with light brown hair, who bends down to her
short level. She giggles as the man catches his glasses that fell off his face, he stumbles
to put them on as he tries to keep some dignity.
"So what are you doing?" the man askes the small child once more.
"I'm looking at the man in the sky, Daddy." she said with excitement as she
pointed at a cloud in the sky, "See he's waving."
"Dear, I don't see it. All I see is a big white cloud of vapor." the man stated as
he looked to the sky in vain for figure his daughter was refering to.
"No Dad, it is the cloud." she explained.
The man paused trying to keep the dignity that he use to have, "Oh."
Suddenly another familar voice cut across the courtyard the pair were standing
in, "Xavier! Xendyte! Where are you?"
The man quickly stood up, the girl quickly noticed the height difference between
them as the man walked over to a blonde woman coming towards them.
"There you are. I was wondering what kept you." the woman smiled warmly
at the man and the girl, "Now hurry we're going to be late for the Ball."
"Teleri, the Counsule is holding a celebration for the success of the completion
of the Temporal Net above the Community," the man pointed his hands in the air
and came to his conclusion, "So it really isn't a ball. . "
"I don't care what it really is, I'm going to a ball, and so is Cindy," the woman
quickly interrupted the man as bent down to the small girl, "Isn't that right, my
sweet little child?"
The girl beamed with excitement and nodded her head in agreement. The
woman smiled warmly at her daughter as her mate shook his head residing back
to the building, as the sound of crying was heard from inside.
"It must be the baby again." the man said as he adjusted his glasses once
more.
As the two watched the tall man disappear into the building, the girl tunred to
her mother, "Mommy, why doesn't Daddy see the man in the clouds?"
The woman smiled thoughtfully at the question and answered, "Well your father
is just. . . different, but that's why I love him, as I also love you."
The girl lept at her mother and gave her a tight hug. As she did, she looked
around at the wonderous garden around her. Beautifully green plants everywhere with
the odd red, blue, or violet color of flowers and trees dotting the grounds.
Life couldn't get any better.
Or so she thought.
The woman blinked her eyes and found herself staring at the white ceiling
spotted with black. She so loved her family, she couldn't understand what all-powerful
force of Fate decided to take it away from her. She will never forget what happened
that day, never;
She remembered the arid wind of the desert licking her face, as she strained
forward with her mother who was carrying a young child in her arms. She used the
sheath on her head to prevent the sand from blurring her vision. She saw her father
keeping a very diligent pace across the sand which caused her to wonder what his
hurry was.
"Dad, hold up!" she yelled.
The man stopped and turned around, "Come on, hurry up, we got to keep
going."
The young woman ran towards her father and asked so she didn't have to yell,
"Dad, what's going on?"
The man stopped in his tracks and nervously adjusted his glasses as he said,
"Uh, the Counsule just gave me some extra credits for developing the new AI system
in their building, you know the one you helped me on, and I thought we'd go to one of
those paradise dimensions. Um, anyway, I just want to get there in a hurry."
"Are you sure." she questioned as she sensed the sound of guilt in his voice.
The man avioded his daughter's stare as the woman carrying the child yelled
towards them, "Could someone take Seamus, he's getting heavy."
The young woman smiled and turned to the older woman, "Sure Mom, I'll take
the little rascal off your hands."
The older woman gave the dark haired child to her daughter, and signed with
relief as got rid her heavy load. The older woman ran up to her mate as the young
woman carried her brother who was stirring.
"Cindy, are we there yet?" the little brown haired boy asked sleepily.
"I'm not sure, Sam." she answered quickly as her apprehension about the real
reason they were making this trip was getting to her, why was her father nervous?
Then Fate answered her question as a shimmer of light appeared just ahead.
The shimmers grew to a dazzling brightness and disapated to reveal four soldiers in
heavy armor carrying an assortment of weapons, all four had most of their faces
covered by a visor. The lead soldier took a step forward and approached menacingly
toward the man shaking nervously.
"Xavier, chief technician of sheild technology, there is evidence of your
association with the rebel group known as the Society, sentencible by death. How
do you plead?" the soldier smiled wickedly at the cowering man.
"Please listen to me Timelord, I'm not apart of the Society, please believe me!"
the man begged as his mate standing next to him narrowed her eyes, as the young
woman stared in disbelief at the situation at hand.
"What is this 'evidence' you have!" the older woman exclaimed in rage.
The Timelord quickly punched the woman in the face in response and smiled
with sick pleasure.
"In the name of the Counsule, I hereby sentence you to death."
After that she decided not to remember, the image of their deaths had always
tortured her soul. The only she voluntarily remembered was a man with brown with
white streaks running through it, he looked like he hadn't aged well.
She remembered the man offered his hand to her and said dryly, "I am your
savior, General Halebit of the Society. I am sorry about your family, the Timelords
who killed them will pay, I am sure."
In her grand grief of realizing her lose, she couldn't really remember her first
conversation with the general, but remembered how uncomfortable she felt by his
forward and cold mannerisms. The feeling never subsided, and she made it a point to
avoid him. Since the Society was run like a military operation by the 'General,' as he
insisted on being called, she had no time to recover for the tragic event. Atfirst
she publicly spited the authority of the 'General' which gave her a negative reputation
amongst the others, so she recited to putting on a false smile and beared it, hiding her
rage and anger over the loss of her family. Yet Halebit never forgot her spiting him in
the beginning and he constantly punished her by reminding her of her family's death.
It was his way of having control, and that's all he wanted, control.
The blond woman yawned. It seemed sleep finally decided to return to her.
She narrowed her eyes and scowled at the specs on the ceiling.
'Damn spots, will you ever go away.' she thought as she drifted further into
slumber where she could escape the terrible reality surrounding her and dream of
a time when men waved to her from the sky.
END
I'd like to thank once again Lord Talon for unknowingly causing this creation.
Also I'm sorry if it confused you, it was one of those spur of the moment sort of things.
If you find this reasonably interesting let me know. I'm always on call.
