Is the story of Mulan something that a Japanese person would have at least
a passing familiarity with? It is a Chinese story, so I imagine not, but
I know of at least one Chinese story that the Japanese have adopted, and
some legends and myths of one culture are known to other cultures (e.g.,
Arthur, Roland, William Tell, Robin Hood, Gilgamesh, Hercules, and Thor
are all known to varying degrees in North America.) So is Mulan known
in Japan, and if so, to what level?
