[SMALL RANT] l noticed that most self insertion fics are kinda the same.
The author is transferred into the body of Tenchi, Ranma, or Akane.
So l decided to write this as a kind of spammish thing. C&C, flames,
and MSTing's are welcome.

Excedrin Headache #27
By Kasey
l gave a great smile of satisfaction as l looked upon my crowning
achievement. "Finally!" l thought, "After all the hours of hard work, after
interpreting the japanese instructions, after being buried alive in yards of
cable... It's DONE!" l gave a triumphant, evil laugh as l gazed upon my newly
installed big screen TV. I reached for the universal remote and turned on the
efforts of years of scrimping and saving with a flick of a finger. The TV
flared
to life and my laugh grew even more evil and triumphant.
I smiled the smile of the damned as l turned off my new gadget and
looked
at my lopsided entertainment center. I had to pull it out in order to hook
everything up properly, but now came the tedious task of pushing it back. I
grunted and groaned as the stubborn piece of furniture moved back into
place. With the huge piece of furniture back in place, l wiped my sweaty brow
with the back of my hand and suddenly noticed movement to the side of me. I
watched in horrid fascination as my new TV wobbled to and fro, and then
began to lean toward me. My last conscious thought was "l just PAID for it!!!"

I awoke to a sharp, thobbing pain in my head as if someone had pulled
an Acme industrial sized mallet out and decided to play piata with my skull.
I groaned lightly and felt someone place a damp washcloth on my head. My
eyes opened to a blinding white light. The face of a woman quickly replaced
that of the light.
"How are you feeling?" she asked quietly.
"Uhn." l replied. It correctly summed up the totality of my health at that
moment. Now that my eyes (finally) adjusted to the light l could make out
the features of my... nurse? No, l realized taking a quick look around the
room. I wasn't in a hospital. I wasn't even in my own house for that matter.
I took in the surroundings as my makeshift nurse replaced the bandages on
my head. It was rather sparse, but cluttered (guess someone didn't clean).
There were weird dents? and mismatched blotches on the wall from where
something had gone through it and been patched up recently. I was laying
close to the floor so l guessed l was on some sort of mat (because it was
soft) or blanket.
My "nurse" was of obvious Asian decent. A young woman with her long
dark hair pulled away from her face in a ponytail that suited her very much.
She
was pretty and the aura she projected calmed me even though l had no clue
as to where l was. She wore a simple apron and smiled at me when she was
done fixing my bandages.
"Can you sit up? I'm so sorry about what happened." She sighed
I sat up slowly and waited for the room to stop spinning. When l my head
finally felt like it stopped doing it's impression of the Tilt-a-whirl, l
nodded.
That's when l noticed something odd. My hair. I pulled down a strand of my
bangs to inspect and noticed it was a brilliant shade of red. My eyes widened
to comedic proportions as everything snapped into place. The bright red hair.
The young woman in the apron. I started to panic. Somehow, l had switched
bodies with one of the characters from my favorite manga. This was the
only conclusion l could reach. Hours spent reading fics off the FFML to the
wee hours of the morning insured that train of thought. But, oh God, it
couldn't
be... l closed my eyes, but l couldn't avoid what my senses (no matter how
bizarre) were telling me. I was stuck in... oh please don't let this be
true...
l was.... I was...
"Akemi, are you sure you're alright?"
My head dropped and got an eyeful of my own chest. "l really need a new
nightie." I muttered absentmindedly as l noticed what l was wearing.
"I've been saying that for years." Kyoko said dryly as she stood up.
