She failed to seek treatment.
Sometimes being UNABLE to seek treatment is _part_ of the mental illness.
You can be quite well aware that you're mentally ill, but unable to see a
shrink.. because the illness itself prevents you.
There's also everyone's favorite.. being unaware that you're mentally ill.
(I'm not sick! It's the WORLD that's screwed up. If they'd only do things
the RIGHT way, MY way, if they'd all just do as I TOLD them, everyone would
be happy, healthy...)
Well, you get the point. As one of the first persons ever diagnosed with
Attention Deficit Disorder (They called it Hyperactivity back then) in the
early 1960's, I got a close-up and personal look at mental illness and it's
treatment. Trust me, it is possible to be either mentally ill, and unaware
that you are, or to know that you're ill, but unable to seek proper care as
that's PART of the illness.
Both are nasty.
And as this veers towards being an off-topic post, let's take it to
