Hmm. The Meiji? I'm not sure what he would say, but probably not that. The
Meiji era is named so because Meiji was the Emperor at the time that the
	Meiji Restoration: began 1868, ended...well, I'm not sure about
the end of the Restoration, as such, but Emperor Mutsuhito (whose reign
was called the Meiji era; his name wasn't actually Meiji--just like
Hirohito's reign was called Showa) died in 1912. I doubt RK took place
during this time--this was time of modernizing. Perhaps the Tokugawa
period? That encompassed 1600 to 1868....
	Gotta love my Japanese history class. :)

Actually, it takes place in the year 1878. Kenshin wandered ten years
previous,
from 1868-1878.
	Many of the characters in the series are real historical figures.
Saitoh Hajime, for instance, actually existed. The series is filled with
historical figures playing minor roles (with the exception of Saitoh).
That's part of why it does well in Japan, or so I've heard....

I just felt like I had to comment.... ^_-
