Subject: [FFML] [spam-esque] TPOH, King of Nerima 2 speculation


Arthur Edwards e-mailed me about the King of Nerima
segment in 'The Pursuit of Happiness', outlining
a sort of 'what if the King of Nerima was a video game
made by NeoGeo' thing.

I found it kinda nifty.

I didn't quite agree with his lineups, and I was bored,
so I wrote up a little 'what if' of my own, assuming
there'll be a King of Nerima '99.

Yup. Got a few comments about the list:

- The Masters: Genma, Soun, Happosai
Because Happy wanted fun, and who better to drag
into it than his old students?

Besides which, spineless jellyfish can be used as effective weapons...

- The Heroic Trio:  Ranma, Ryouga, Mousse
They've been the top martial artists in Nerima for 
a solid year, and now...

   HAH!  I give this "team" even odds against the tea-sippers, and
 that's about it.  They'd rip each other to shreds long before their
 opponents could cross the ring...

- The REAL Heroic Trio: Akane, Ukyou, Shampoo
Miffed at the egomaniacs the men have become,
the ladies set out to prove they're not the
only ones who can go out and beat down the town.

   They'll lose against the guys, until one of the male HT makes the
 inevitable dumb remark, at which point the three ladies'll make
 sushi out of 'em

- The Lucky Gods Trio: Kirin, Bishamonten, Monron
Chopstick boy, the deadly polearm master, and
the lady of the musical biwa enter to increase
the fame and reputation of the 7 lucky gods
school of martial arts

   Be interesting to see Monron and Shampoo in the same ring.  Neither
 one strikes me as the kind to forget a grudge match.

- Team Nemesis: Crepe Joe, Copycat Ken, The Dojo Destroyer
Each has a grudge to settle against one of the others
in the tournament.  Joe against Ukyou, Ken and the Destroyer
against Ranma, and the Destroyer against Ryo as well.

   'Course, unless they can figure out how to make their *extremely*
 different techniques work together, they'll toast each other almost
 as fast as the male HT.

- Team Kuno: Kodachi, Tatewaki, Sasuke
As if they need a reason.

   First round, these guys are gone.

- The Mighty Mighty Fist of Stooge Team:
 Lai-Ri Ku-Lee Moh, Shen Pu, Uncle Joe.
Proving that the way of the Three Masters is indeed
the most righteous and unbeatable path.  NYUK!

   This alone would make the thing worth reading!  The author is
 advised to watch the film, "Around the world in a Daze"--the scene
 in which they have just brainwashed their Chinese torturers has them
 numbering their "attacks".


   All in all, I like these team-ups.  I just wish there was one with
 Nodoka Saotome on it--the battle betweeen that team and Ranma's would
 be interesting, to say the least:
     Ranma (dodging):  C'mon!  I don't fight girls, let alone my mom!
     Nodoka (swinging katana):  Ranma!  quit running and show me how
                              manly you've become!
