Thanks a lot for the casting information you (and everybody else too)
sent me, it definetly got my wheels turning, and I really appreciate the
interest from people on the ML in this story.
Originally, a lot of the casting choices I made were done because I
wanted to write a parody of the first novel (and the movie too, because
it lends itself to parody.) now, with all the characterization issues
raised by the various replies I've received to the first posting, I
still plan on writing a parody, but I will do my best to keep
characterization intact, but let's face it, nothing's sacred. :) But
before I do anything really, I have to go back and reread most of the
book and watch the movie (full version) and listen to my copy of th
soundtrack (the only really oustanding part of the movie).
The Jusenkyou curses: well, I had originally planned on having
everybody cursed on the planet Jusenkyou (replacing Caladan) with the
transfer of House Atreides (Saotome) to Arrakis advertised as the cure!
(No water, duh). All I can say is, remember that scene at the end of
the movie, where the rainstorm starts? Hehe. >;)
Info on my other stories in case anybody is interested:
Robotech Troopers: the Robotech/Rifts/Starship Troopers fusion I
started awhile back now has 5 completed chapters! I want to get the
first 7 or 8 done before I post. If anybody wants to pre-read, let me
know.
Dirty Pair/Star Wars: is on the backburner right now, but I will start
it up again on request.
Dirty Pair/Alien Resurrection: is a very sick concoction that is waay
on the backburner. Way back there.
WArPeD: For those interested, this is my big self-insertion
"homage"/parody/indulgement to epic self-insertions.

...and from the introduction to The Grace of Great Things:
"Creativity is dangerous. We cannot open ourselves to
new insight without endangering the security of our
prior assumptions. We cannot propose new ideas without
risking disapproval and rejection. Creative
achievement is the boldest initiative of mind, an
adventure that takes its hero simultaneously to the rim
of knowledge and the limits of propriety. Its pleasure
is not the comfort of the safe harbor, but the thrill
of the reaching sail."
