Hopefully...:) I'd like to see fanfic like this continue to grow and
evolve considiring that Ranma fanfic does have to decrease in volume at
some point in future (Orginal plot lines are running low and Ranma 1/2 is
finished in Japan). It'd be nice to see a mixture of series come in a take
it's place in US fandom...
How optomistic, Beaubien-san... however, I doubt Ranma fanfiction will
ever cease, or even dribble down and decrease, because it IS so huge, only
those who have read the fanfiction will know what has been done.. and even
then, some continue to write 'stories that have been done before'.. it is
refreshing, at times, to find fanfics other than Ranma 1/2, though. :)
Ranma fanifc will probably never cease, but it will dribble down after
awhile IMHO. Once tall of the series has been released in English I
wouldn't be suprisied if Ranma fandom die's down after a few years (since
it won't have a new products to push it forward). People will move on to
new things, and while they will have fond memories of the series they will
probably be hooked on the next big anime/manga thing (whatever it is...).
That still leaves a lot of room open though for a whole boat load of Ranma
fanfics. With storylines like Herb and Akari not known to a decent
portion of Ranma fan's these stories should produce a wack load of other
fic ideas (much like the amnesia anime epsiode helped produce Ranma as a
girl fanfics).
Of course this all IMHO of course, and it doesn't take into account the
fact that another Anime series could come over here and captivate fandom
more than Ranma. Or the fact that Ranma could be the US anime fandom's
Star Trek.....
Ja ne!!
