I disagree, and not just because I'll take any excuse to annoy the hell

Which is *extremely* annoying in itself, particularly for someone (i.e.
me) trying to catch up on 800+ back messages. You want to get in a
personal feud with Tybalt, take it the hell *off* this ML. Please.
This is an important charachterization question that I'm surprised
hasn't been brought up before. It will directly impact how people write.
Granted. It's also, as Gary noted, divisive, doesn't seem to do much to
change the minds of the participants, and ends up in a flamewar as often
as not. The place where it belongs most is in discussing the
characterization *relating to a particular story* -- where the example
can focus the debate and hopefully keep it from turning into an all-out
flamewar.
