This has popped up in a couple of fics by various writers....

In Episode 12, when Misato says she'll treat the EVA pilots to a steak
dinner if they manage to stop the angel, Asuka says that Rei will have to
join them this time.  Rei responds that she won't, and when Shinji asks
why, Rei responds that she dislikes meat.
