That's basically what I tried to keep in mind in writing Reflect.
you also can get a good grip on my interpretation of these guys through
intros. Another good trick is to stick to characters which are in the
domestic releases, for the first episode. After this, Naga will be
introduced in #2, and Xelloss.. well, that is a secret. :)
Usually, though, in-story character introductions break the flow of
the story somewhat. There's something to be said for character guides and
the like, which, when combined with illuminating scenes of a character's
personality (like Gourry in the sidekicks' panel), can provide just as
much information in a smooth fashion. It's all too easy to fall into
comic-book style exposition, where all of the backstory is explained in
the first few pages.
Not that _Slayers Reflect_ fell into this trap, though. The
character intros were entertaining and minimally intrusive.
