And yes, I thought it was time someone did a GOOD mainstream Chrono Trigger
fic. If anyone knows of an existing good one, my apologies.
I'm not even going to speculate on whether "A Stitch In Time" counted as
'good' - what little there was of it.
"A Stitch in Time" was my own Chrono Trigger fanfic, staying completely
within the bounds of the game's universe, picking up about a year (for
Crono, Marle, and Lucca) after they destroyed Lavos. The story began when
Spekkio realized that Lavos hadn't been completely beaten yet, and started
gathering the heroes from across history - even as history began to change
around them, removing them from the timestream one by one ....
I never got past chapter three when I was writing it, though, and most of
that story got lost - along with several other writing projects - when my
writing disk vanished.
The only other reasonably good Chrono Trigger fanfic I know is an
epic-length trilogy, crossing over between Final Fantasy IV (US numbering;
the one with the Espers), Chrono Trigger, and Ranma 1/2. I believe the
three parts were _The Four Birds of Fire_, _The Caller's Plight_, and
_Lightbirds_; I don't remember what the entire trilogy was called.
(If anyone else remembers the full title or the author, please let Mr.
Arezina know via private e-mail?)
