no, personality wise Asuka is perfect for Akane--though I really wouldn't mind
seeing someone pair up Rei and Shinji

Maybe not, Gendou's not a complete asshole (I can't believe I just said that)
everything he's done in Eva is for a specific purpose--either the greater good
of humanity (so he thinks) or to get his wife back.  He's never hurt his son
for absolutely no reason whatsoever.
