DiC's airing of Sailor Moon is probably a major sore spot on the list, so
I'm sorry I had to mention it. But... after watching the last episode they
allowed to air, (they stopped just short of wrapping up the Nega-Moon saga,
I believe) I had a strange idea. An idea which also stemmed from the fact
that I'd recently worked my way through Phantasy Star IV. Consider...

(The brief outline [not actual story] you are about to read is true. At
least in my mind. The names have been changed to titles to protect this list
from contention over which version of the names should be used. Oh, and none
of these are my own characters and I'm not going to let you or anyone else
sell it, et cetera. )

The Profound Darkness really wasn't defeated. Just sealed away for good. Or
so they thought, back in the Algo solar system. Well... it was sealed in
THEIR universe...

The Prince of the Nega-Moon wired home for reinforcements. Which
necessitated talking to the future. Which required a time warp. The Profound
Darkness flung its entire being through said time warp to avoid being
destroyed when its pocket dimension collapsed. It found the evil in the
dimension where it landed sorely lacking, but could do nothing about it; it
was just as sealed away there as it was in Algo, and by a much more complex
seal. Nine planets, at least...

And it reached out and touched the mind of the Dark Prince, offering him a
huge amount of power, on one condition: that the planets be destroyed so
that it could break free. He agreed in an instant. And the two began
marshaling their forces...

And the defenders of truth and justice were taking a well-deserved rest. It
wouldn't last long, however. Just when you thought it was safe to go back to
your normal life... a strange tower sprang up overnight. A tower surrounded
by an impenetrable thicket of brambles, which seemed to take some strange
delight in snagging the clothes and hair of passers-by. Nothing seemed to be
able to penetrate the thicket, and so the tower was largely ignored.

"Big Mistake" would be an understatement.

One day, not too long after the tower appeared... THEY came. Animated suits
of armor, wielding eerily glowing hunks of crystal. Mutated monstrosities
with only one arm... if a razor-sharp amalgam of bone and metal could be
called an arm. Sorcerers, swathed in robes, who rained down fire and
lightning upon the city. Fire-eyed zombies, glowing with radiation, who
fired bursts of force with spectral hands. This was no discreet invasion.
This was all-out war.

A war which five sailors, two cats, and one tuxedo-clad man were losing.
Horribly. At the very worst, they had fought at even odds before. Now, they
were outnumbered a thousand to one, easily. It didn't matter that these
monsters were much weaker than the ones they had fought before... a single
strike could easily take out a dozen of them. Every so often, the
otherworldly forces would land a blow. They were surrounded, no way out, no
escape... it seemed only a matter of time before the occasional lucky blows
compounded into defeat.

And then... Deus Ex Machina. Lumen Ex Celestia, actually. A glowing blue
sword shot from space into the midst of the ranks of Earth's last, best
hope. There was a blinding light...

And all that remained was a globe of blue force which nothing the invaders
did could penetrate. They gave a collective shrug and moved on, to conquer
the world for their master.

"Big Mistake" would be an extreme understatement.

The Great Light was not entirely ignorant of the machinations of its sister
force. And so, it had reforged the Elsydeon from the scattered fragments its
champions had left behind. Good. The memories were still intact. All the
memories, even the most recent ones. That would help tremendously... for the
champions of this new universe would have much to learn about fighting the
minions of the Darkness.

****

Now, this was just an outline of what the first story could be like...
needless to say, the senshi, Tuxedo Mask, and their feline friends are
currently being indoctrinated by Chaz Ashley and Nei and Alis Landale and
Myau and both generations of Lutz... in other words, the dimension inside
the sword is rapidly becoming Crossover Central. Some thoughts on who meets
and learns from who: (Oh, and the Phantasy Star names are English, not the
original Japanese. Hope that's okay.)

Sailor Moon: Chaz Ashley and Kyra Tierney (PSIV) Anna the Guardian (PSII)
Alis Landale (PSI) She swaps the tiara for a pair of Moon Slashers (PSIV's
ultimate slasher) and a circlet fashioned from Laconia, and trades in the
fuku for a long, flowing robe with Laconia fibers woven into it. Couple that
with the "magic" Kyra teaches her and Chaz's Megid technique... and trust
me, she's got more than enough anger to level a city with that last one. Oh,
and did I mention the lunar gravity warp?

Sailor Mercury: Hahn and Demi (PSIV) Amy the Doctor and Hugh the Biologist
(PSII) She takes Hahn's cybernetically enhanced (as in sensors, not weapons)
suit and helm from PSIV and Demi's sonic gun. She learns a heck of a lot
more than she wanted to know about healing techniques and enemy pressure
points and weak spots, and is a little more than surprised to find her
namesake taking up her intended profession. She picks up Demi's phonon
strike and Hahn's astral energy blast, and a whole lot more ways to bewilder
and weaken enemies than just using an all-concealing fog. Did I mention
those wonderful cryogenic blasts Hahn's able to fire off?

Sailor Mars: Alys Brangwin and Raja (PSIV) Shir the Thief (PSII) Needless to
say, she finds kindred spirits in Alys and Shir, and finds that Raja reminds
her a little too much of her grandfather... But anyway. She takes Raja's
guardian staff, Alys's suit of Laconia mail, and Shir's Nei Crown. She takes
to Alys's fire techniques like nobody's business, and finds a lot of
similarities between Raja's mysticism and her own. Specifically, she's going
to be using a lot of Saints' Fire and Holy Word.

Sailor Jupiter: Gryz and Wren (PSIV) Rudo the Hunter and Kain the Wrecker
(PSII) You can imagine her reaction to a blue-furred Motavian wielding an
eerily glowing axe. She takes Wren's equipment, lock, stock, and barrel.
Guardian armor, Laconia headgear, and a gun called the Photon Eraser which
puts the BFG to shame. She learns from Gryz how to focus her strength into
one explosive burst and picks up a few more interesting tricks with
lightning from Wren. Can you say "Jupiter Positron Blast"?

Sailor Venus: Rune Walsh and Rika (PSIV) Nei (PSII) Lutz (PSI) An odd mix...
biological constructs and Espers. But it seems to fit... a Guardian cape and
circlet mixing with the Silver Tusk and a Guardian claw. She learns a few
things about using such weapons swiftly and well... and picks up Rika's
skill at creating illusions of herself. And with the magic of the Espers...
one crescent beam can quickly blossom into a Legeon of blows.

Tuxedo Mask: Rolf the Agent (PSII) and Odin (PSI) The cane is gone, the
Elsydeon in its place. The tuxedo is replaced by Guardian mail, the top hat
by a Guardian helm. And he throws Tsu blasts now, instead of roses.

Da Cats: Myau (PSI) They're talking cats. She's a talking cat. What's not to
like? Well, maybe the wings. But the Algo solar system's feline observer has
more than a few hints to offer...

Okay, so I'm maybe taking the crossover thing a bit too far. But what do you
think? Is it workable? If so... anybody care to work it?
