I was really bored and the radio was playing
while I worked on my other fics then another
damned weird scene came into my head.
Since I had a ton of free time since it's
a Saturday afternoon I kicked the idea around
and came up with this.
It's kinda filled with song lyrics so it's a bit of a
songfic.
C&C and MSTs are begged for....please someone
pay attention to me ! ;-)
Disclaimer:
I don't own Sailormoon and other related properties.
If I did I would be rolling around in dough.
I'm currently rolling in dust.
So don't sue.

The lilting sounds of a piano playing filled the room as the
man sat down and started to let his fingers move over the
ivory keys.
His long tapered fingers resembled that of a woman's as
he started to play out a recognizable tune. It was slow and
melancholic, a slight sad smile was playing on the
musician's lips. His head moved with the music as he closed
his green eyes and opened his mouth to sing.
/What has life to offer me
When I grow old ?
What's there to look forward
to beyond the biting cold ?
They say it's difficult,
yes stereotypical./
The piano's notes masked the sound of the door opening and
the almost audible footsteps of a woman as she entered.
/What's there beyond
Sleep, eat,work
In this cruel life ?
Ain't there nothing
Else round here
But human strife ?
Cause they say it's difficult
Yes, stereotypical
Gonna be conventional
You can't be so radical/
The music started to become more and more alive. The room
was filled with the heightening pitch and tone. The man was
about to sing the next words when he heard the melodious
voice of the woman behind him.
/So we'll sing this song
To all of our age/
The man looked behind him and saw the familiar mane of
dark green hair and the burgundy eyes. He almost faltered
in his playing, but his fingers played on, bereft of his attention
and he joined in singing.
/For these are the questions
We got to face.
For in this cycle that we call life
We are the one's who are next in line
We are next in line.....
We are next in line...../
The music became more passionate, the man letting his
fingers move across the keys with the skill of a virtuoso.
Then they both sang, letting their voices mingle with each
other.
/What has life to offer me
When I grow old ?
What's there to look forward
to beyond the biting cold ?
They say it's difficult,
yes stereotypical./
The woman had moved to a position near the man standing by
him, looking into his emerald eyes and they continued their
singing.
/So we'll sing this song
To all of our age
For these are the questions
We got to face.
For in this cycle that we call life
We are the one's who are next in line
We are next in line.....
We are next in line...../
The two of them closed their eyes as they belted out the
next lines of the song. The woman let a single tear escape
through the closed eyes, streaking down her cheeks.
/ We got to work
We got to feel
Let's open our eyes
And do whatever it takes.
We got to work
We got to feel
Let's open our eyes/
As if on cue both of them opened their eyes and they both
locked them on each other, emrald eyes meeting burgundy
red ones in a gaze hinting of pain and remembrance. Their
voices rose as they finished the song.
/So we'll sing this song
To all of our age
For these are the questions
We got to face.
For in this cycle that we call life
We are the one's who are next in line
We are next in line.....
We are next in line...../
/ Sing this song with me
Sing this song
Sing it with me...
To touch the sun..../
The man let his hands crawl along the piano keys, a soft tune starting
to form as he looked at the woman.
' You remembered, Set-chan.'
' How could I forget.' responded the woman as she sat beside him
on his seat. The man favored her with a sad grin, as he returned to
look at his fingers playing on the piano keys.
' That's one of the perks being one of us. We tend to remember
things before they were made. We used to sing that song a lot
in the old days didn't we ?'
' Yes. Yes, we did.'
' And that was a waaaay, waaaay back. I still remember you
dressing up like a hippie, Set-chan.'
' And you smoking pot. That really messed up your temporal
senses, didn't it, Hiro-kun ? ' She said. They both laughed, recalling
the memories.
' Then we both grew up.' The man said dryly as they finished laughing.
' Set-chan, do you remember this ? ' the man said as the woman
finally recognized the tune he was playing as he sang.
/ You're all I've got
And all I've wanted
In this land of Time/
He looked at her sideways as he continued to sing.
/I've left the things
I've treasured most
'Cause all I want is you
You're worth more
Than gold or any silver
You're just beyond compare
Leaving all the things
I have is something
I could dare/
The man's voice crescendoed as he started to let the music flow.
/ You're all I have in this Land of Time
There's nothin' I want more
You're all I have in this Land of Time
Then why should I ask more
You're all I have in this Land of Time
I'll soar up high and sing !/
He noticed the unshed tears in the woman's eyes as the music went
down into a low tone and he half whispered.
/ You're all I have
In this passing world..../
He stopped when the woman broke into sobs. He put her hands around
her shoulders and started to comfort her.
' Th-that was the s-song you sang be-before you pr-proposed.' She said
as she cried onto his shoulder.
' Sorry, Set-chan. I thought you wouldn't mind.' he apologized.
' It's just that it brings so many memories back.....'
' Hush, Set-chan. Where's the lady of ice the Senshi know and love ?'
he said half teasing in his tone.
' You were watching us ?' Anger creeping into her tone
' Not everyday. I just looked around to see if you were safe and all that.'
He said defensively, hoping she wouldn't punch him in the gut like the
last time. His Set-chan could pack quite a wallop.
' Y-you were worried about me ?' she asked in a surprised tone.
' Weeelll, not exactly. But you _were_ my wife and it seems I can't get
over that.' he said with sheepish smile.
' That was a long time ago, Hiro-kun. Another place, another time. Before
the War....' she trailed off as she saw him stand up and go to the nearby
liquor closet.
' Yes. Another time, another place. Where both of us had a daughter and
we loved each other. Brandy ?' he asked as he showed her a bottle.
' Yes, thank you.'
He poured two glasses and walked over to her, bringing both glasses.
'What really pisses me off about the War' as the woman started up again
'is the fact with all our power over Time we couldn't just simply pull our
daughter out.'
' Remember what Sensei said. About timestream integrity and all that.
We both know if we pulled her out a lot more beings would have died.'
The man sighed as he stopped in front of her, locking eyes with her
once again.
'We both lost a lot during the War. We both lost a daughter we'd have
given our lives for. I lost a wife I'd willingly go through hell to get back.
You lost a husband who'd willingly go through hell to get you back.'
He smiled a sad smile as he gave the glass to her.' I wouldn't mind
going through hell right about now.'
' It's still too soon, Hiro-kun. I'm just not sure if..if I could....' she said
nervously as she looked away from his gaze.
' I understand.' He said as seated himself again beside her.
He put his glass on the piano and let his hands move over
the keys once again, picking out a tune.
The woman remembered the tune, as it brought back memories
of a child's singing, a beautiful home, a loving husband's smile......
Her reverie was broken when her companion began the song.
/ Dancing with you
Across the floor
Through Time and Tide
Singing with you
On the roof
Looking up the Stars/
The man went silent as he let the woman continue.
/ My life was empty
Till you came
A dawn to
My endless night/
Their voices mingled once again as they sang the refrain
together.
/ There is no doubt
Of the love you have for me
I'll sing it now
And sing it through Eternity
In you I move
In you I have all that I am
In you I have it all
There's nothing that I ask for more/
The piano played on through the night , the man and woman seated before
it singing and remembering.

' Writers are the torchbearers of civilization. We're set in a corner only we
can illuminate. Some of us are searchlights, able to cast a beam into the
far reaches of the human soul. Some of us are candles , barely able to
sustain a glow against the darkness. Nevertheless the words I write
are important, because light is additive. Another's light doesn't diminish
my own. Our lights together make us stronger.'

' There is no such thing as fiction. There is no such thing as imagination.
Everthing's friggin' real.Everything's also one hell of an illusion. What that

the chair I'm sitting on, are participants in one of the biggest fucking lies
in the history of Time: Reality'
