TekkaKnight Warhammer presents
A Disease Called Life
Written by Christian Clark
Time: Morning
Place: Furinken High School
While students were going in through the gates, saying hello,
meetings their friends and so on, they also knew what to get ready for.
Sure enough, Tatewaki Kuno stepped out from the front doors and stood in
the entryway of the school for one reason. To wait for Akane Tendou and
Ranma Saotome.
Many people wondering why Kuno would just give up and keep
on going with his life. What people didn't know was that when Kuno was
stuck with an idea, it was like a dog with an old shoe. He couldn't get
it out just like anyone else. Which also said something about his
mentality.
Yet, preceding the dynamic duo of Nerima, a new shadow
walked slowly toward her new school in the same uniform as all the other
girls. One would guess she was about 17, 18 at most. Her dark blue hair
waving about the back of her waist. Her gaze almost as cold as a stone
in winter. Of course, Kuno noticed the stranger and stepped into her
path.
"Greetings maiden that is fair. So, you wish to gain entry to
the school. I shall permit it, unless thou wish to tell me thy name."
The girl looked up at him. If only looks could kill, Kuno's
great-grandchildren would feel the ice in her gaze. "Aso Yuko.
Jyuhachi-sai desu." Her voice tinged with a bit of agitation. Kuno then
regained his composure and announced.
"Truly a beautiful name for a woman of your beauty. Now I
shall introduce myself and place honor upon thy name." As he droned on
his introduction, the girl side-stepped and walked past into the school
grounds. Kuno huffed at being ignored and hopped in front of her.
"Ah, so the maiden be feisty. Which drives me for your
attention even more s..."
"Get lost. I don't feel like talking."
"So, you wish to prove your feelings for me. I shall, but if
you wish to do so, then we shall go on a date. But I must warn you that
you must fight me to earn that right. Let it be known that I am prepared
to lose."
Yuko's eyes narrowed to the size of slits in more agitation
at the persistence of the sempai. She sighed in agitation. It was at
that time that Ranma and Akane had noticed the goings on.
"Hey, check it out. There's someone new!" Akane cried to
Ranma's back as the neared the school. Ranma looked at the newcomer and
saw her confronting Kuno. Looks like it was the usual time Ranma had to
stop Kuno, again. He started to slow when he heard the girl speak.
"You do not want to fight me sempai. You might regret it."
The girl named Yuko said, putting her book bag on the ground beside her.
In response, Kuno took an offensive kendou stance.
"Ah, so she has the blood of the fighter within her doesn't
she? Very well then fair one, should you beat me I shall allow you to
date with me." and charged. He slashed downward, but the bokken was
intercepted by her hand. The blade resting with her palm and her fingers
holding it steady despite all of Kuno's attempt to free it.
He looked forward to see Yuko's mouth moving slightly,
mumbling words he couldn't comprehend. Then, he couldn't help but feel
that the area around them was starting to rumble. Before he could look
either way, he felt the bones in his shoulders and upper arms crack and
break. It was a little more than audible, much to everyone's disgust. He
screamed a bit and fell to his knees, his arms now limp at his sides.
Smiling, Yuko picked up her bag and walked past him, looking
down, she said with contempt "Give your arms a week to rest, by then,
you'll be able to move them again. If you try and make them heal, it
will take longer. So, I wouldn't do anything." With that, she walked
past the near unconscious Kuno and a shocked flock of students.
Ranma and Akane were no less shocked than everyone else. Well,
if there was anything about her, it was a bunch of questions without
answers.
***************************************
The girl was introduced into another class as Aso Yuko. Soon
enough, news of her little tryst with Kuno was already all over school.
By lunch, Ranma had began to hunt for her. He heard Daisuke and Hiroshi
yell at his back, "Looking for Aso, Ranma? What are you trying to do?
Make her another one of your fiancees?" He ignored them and continued
his search.
***************************************
On the roof, the same girl of Ranma's search was looking into
the distance aimlessly. She took a look over the grounds and huffed.
<Why do I have to come here of all places? I don't want to hurt anyone
else!> Her eyes darted over to the door were the boy, whom she had heard
was called Ranma Saotome, was. She couldn't care less.
"OI! Aso-san." She ignored him and hoped he would go away, no
such luck. He continued to say her name as he walked up to her, until
she couldn't take it anymore. She turned and nearly screamed.
"WHAT!"
The sudden burst of anger startled him, but soon regained his
composure to continue speaking. "Say, what you did to Kuno this morning.
What exactly was it? It doesn't look like anything I've ever seen
before."
She looked back at him momentarily before looking back into
the distance. "It'd be better for you if you didn't know." she said with
hardly any emotion thrown in.
He blinked at that, then replied, "Well, I want to know."
She snorted, "Tough. Get lost." It was at that time, that
Akane walked up to the roof to find her suspicions were correct. She
started to fume and summon her infamous hammer, just for Ranma's head.
"RANMA YOU PERVERT!" She screamed and charged. Ranma turned
to see his fiancee running at him in her usual blind rage. Yuko, on the
other hand, felt the danger and with a passing glance, looked at the
hammer. In a second, the hammer shattered. Leaving wood chips
everywhere.
Akane looked at the handle, which was the only thing left of
her weapon. No one had ever been able to do that before. She stared in
amazement at the new student who with a passing glance, had not only
rendered Kuno partially immobile, but had destroyed her hammer easily as
well.
"Gomen nasai Tendou-san. It's a reflex." she turned back to
the distance, almost as if no one ever bothered her in the first place.
Ranma then turned and screamed.
"Hey! You could have hurt her! What were you doing?" She
turned and asked if he never said a thing.
'You fight?"
Ranma blinked and then replied, "Yeah, I do. So what?"
Yuko smiled and stood up. "You and whomever else you know of
that fights, come meet me after school. I'll let you know first hand
Saotome." As she was about to pass him, she put her hand on his
shoulder, which crawled up to his neck. Ranma shivered at the icy cold
touch of her hand as she spoke, "I'll even go easy on you."
Ranma growled and turned to face Aso, but she was gone, Akane
was looking left and right for her as well, but with no better luck. He
was about to ask Akane if she saw Yuko, but she shook her before Ranma
even asked.
*************************************************
The school bell rang. Signaling the end of the school day. Yuko
gathered her things and walked out. What she didn't know was that a
piece of paper had fallen out of her bag. Nabiki, always looking for
dirt on new people, saw the paper and smelled an opportunity. She
quickly grabbed the paper and put it in her own pocket. It would be best
to wait until she got home to read it. In the meantime, there was a
fight to witness.
Several minutes later, Yuko stood on the football field, facing the
west, waiting. She heard the footsteps behind her and turned. Her eyes
widened to see that there was only one person whom had shown up. Also,
it wasn't even Saotome. It was a small redhead that apparently had a
fetish for Chinese clothes.
"Get lost kid. I'm waiting for Saotome."
"News flash sister! I am Ranma!"
Yuko nearly gasped, then took another look at the girl. The clothes she
wore was the same as Ranma's but this time there was more space in some
areas, which meant that somehow, he had changed genders. Also, she had
heard from people around that Ranma was cursed this way. At first she
didn't believe it, but seeing this changed her mind. This person acted
exactly like the wild horse.
"What with the body Saotome? Too scared that I might hurt your other
self?" She said smirking.
"Hey! Listen, I don't hit..." his words were interrupted when Yuko
vanished in a flurry of black lines. Before he could even look around,
she reappeared in front of him and elbowed him in the face. While he
staggered back, she resumed the casual stance she did before that
inhuman display of speed.
"I don't want to hurt you Saotome. I don't like fighting weaker
opponents." Her remark, which damaged his pride, caused him to grit his
teeth. That was it, no more holding back.
"Weak?! I'll show you weak! KACHAU TENSHIN AMAGURIKEN" He charged
forward and utilizing his female body's speed, sent as many fists as his
rage, combined with the adrenaline rush would let him. His eyes widen
with horror to see that she was still standing straight up, hands in her
pockets, and a frown on her face. That was when he noticed that a strong
wind had surrounded her, making a shield of sorts, which threw every one
of his punches away.
Yuko's eyes narrowed even more as she growled, "Get serious." And with
no warning, the small tornado about her exploded, sending Ranma to the
other side of the field. He handsprung up to his feet and clutched at
her side. She had somehow hit him while he couldn't see. Looking back at
Yuko, he growled to see that she still hadn't moved at all.
He then analyzed his situation. She was faster and had some pretty good
control over a lot of chi. Well, then, if he wanted to beat this one, he
needed to draw on her weakness. The question was, if she was faster, how
could he beat her with strength? He looked up to see that she was
gathering her own chi. Well, it looked like was going to end with a test
of spiritual power.
He brought his fists forward and screamed, "MUOKO TAKABIASHA!" and a
giant stream of energy flew forth. The size of it was enough to take out
an entire house. Yuko, on the other hand, simply stood and extended a
hand forward. The very second the blast hit her fingertip, it was
diverted into two ways.
Ranma couldn't believe it. She had simply extended her hand had split
his attack in half. What else could he do? A ring answered his question.
Shampoo had of course come to school searching for him. Then looked at
the situation and had charged Yuko.
"You hurt Airen! Shampoo kill!" With that, the amazon jumped from her
bike, pulled out her bonbori and swung, aiming for her enemy's head. To
the amazon's surprise. Yuko caught the mace, moved it out of the way,
and in the same motion, spin kicked the amazon to the side.
"Get lost bimbo, I'm not fighting you." At that time, another shadow
had advance on her behind. Yuko had reached backward to catch the pole
just above the head of a rather large spatula. She looked to see a boy
with a bandoleer of smaller sharp spatulas over his body.
"Nice catch sister. But if you want to get at Ranchan, then you're
gonna have to get through me." The boy said with a rather feminine
voice. He landed, knowing that Yuko still had a grip on her weapon and
was more than ready to use other attacks should she lose it. To her
surprise, Yuko snorted and said,
"Is that so?" and with no warning, threw the pole, which had the boy
still holding onto it, in Ranma's direction. Causing Ukyou to crash into
a confused Ranma.
On the sidelines, Nabiki and Akane looked on with evident worry. No one
was ever this strong, save for a few like Tarou or someone like that,
but she didn't look like a fighter.
A voice said out of nowhere, "That is your first mistake." The Tendou
sisters looked beside them to see another new face. She looked like Yuko
in many respects, save for the lighter hair color, slightly smaller
size, and her hair bundled onto the back of her head.
"What?" Akane asked.
"She doesn't look like a fighter. That is often the first and last
mistake made by people who don't live long." Her smirk at Yuko's display
of power meant something, but what? Sitting down, Nabiki asked,
"I'm sorry. I didn't catch your name. And what do you know about Yuko,
she just transferred here today." The girl's smirk didn't fade as she
turned and answered.
"I never threw my name and to answer your other question. She and I are
rather close, but she doesn't even know it." With that, she stood up and
began to walk away, but stopped for a second to turn and tell Nabiki,
"I'd pay a lot of attention to that note if I were you. It leads to the
truth of the coward's sin." Nabiki looked on with utter confusion. Who
was the coward? And what did they do? Also, the girl knew about the
note. Something was definitely up.
Back at the field, Ranma, Ukyou, and Shampoo were panting. Bruises and
smudges all over their bodies as breath was hard to come by. Yuko on the
other hand, was frowning at her near victory, it was too easy. These
three kept on insisting to think they would win. That is, until a hand
reached from behind and tapped her shoulder. She couldn't tell that
someone was behind her because the person didn't have any malignancy to
her, but it was growing.
She turned to see a boy with a black and yellow bandanna, a backpack,
and a large bamboo umbrella on the top of his backpack.
"Excuse me. If there's going to be someone who's going to beat Ranma
into submission, it's me." Yuko was starting to get annoyed at all these
rude people interrupting her fight. She growled and replied, her
patience running very thin.
"And what if I say, 'Piss off'? Are you going to hit me? Just because
you can't fight this wimp?"
Ryouga was shocked, he, being who he was and all, would never hit a
girl first. In fact, he wouldn't even hit a girl if they were beating on
him. He regained his composure and replied, "Well...No, but I am
supposed to be the one that beats him to a pulp."
Yuko sighed, <These people are morons! > and while the lost boy was
distracted, she vanished like before and re-appeared in a flurry of
attacks to his weaker points. Until at last, she got hold of his right
arm, turned around, put his arm facing upward and pulled him over her.
He didn't get enough time to react as he felt the bones in his arm
beginning to crack and break into two pieces. His screams were muffled
as he felt his face being pushed into the ground.
Yuko sighed again and turned her back to the rest of her attackers,
deciding to go home. There was nothing more to do here. She was wrong,
she heard Ranma yell at her back, "Hey! Where do you think you're going?
This ain't finished yet!" That was the last straw. She whirled around
and all that power that she had built up before that had deflected
Ranma's ki attack returned.
"On the contrary, Ranma. It is!" she gathered the power into a sphere
that grew at a frightening rate. She extended it forward and screamed,
"DEATH FLASH!" The sphere sped towards the fighting four of Nerima and
swallowed them all up. Just it had engulfed them, the sphere vanished,
leaving everyone shocked at what happened.
Yuko just walked away from the site of the fight and out of the school
grounds. While everyone was searching for where ever the four people
were, they didn't notice where they reappeared. The four fighters landed
on a heap, all of them steaming with heat off of their bodies. Along
with cuts, bruises, gashes, and broken bones littered around their
bodies. They all needed medical attention and now.
Later that day, the Tendou sisters had explained to Dr. Tofu the day's
events and found himself at a loss. He never knew anyone nor thought it
possible to reproduce the same techniques as the new girl did. The four
would have to stay there for the night for recuperation, and the good
doctor made it clear that Shampoo and Ukyou would be fast asleep.
Later that night in her room, Nabiki took the note out of her uniform's
pocket and read the writings on it.
All my life. You lie silently there.
In a world so unfair.
And only I'll know why.
And it will live inside of me. I will never be free.
Trapped in your memory. Till the day you open your eyes.
Please. Open your eyes Rei-kun.
All my life. I'll be haunted by... ...just one moment in time.
Until the day I die.
And it will live inside of me. I will never be free.
Trapped in her memory. Till the day that you open your eyes.
Please. Open your eyes Rei-kun.
Nabiki blinked. Who was Rei-kun? Trapped in the memory of a dead man?
Haunted by a single moment? A murder! Maybe Yuko was involved or a
witness to a murder! Evidently this Rei-kun's murder no doubt. Well,
maybe finding dirt on this Aso girl wasn't going to be as lucrative, but
it would be nice to know what was going on.
*************************************************
The next day, being a Saturday, Nabiki had asked Akane to come with her
to where Yuko lived. The house was standard enough, and hopefully, the
woman in question would not be in. Knocking at the door, a woman that
appeared to be Yuko's mother answered.
"Hai?" she asked.
Nabiki blinked and asked if this was Yuko's home. The woman nodded and
invited them in.
"It's nice to see Yuko making new friends. Especially after what
happened."
"Nani? What happened?" The elder sister asked interested.
The woman sighed and then walked up to a picture inside a nightstand.
She handed them both a picture of a dark blue haired girl, about fifteen
or so. Beside her, another girl about the same age, with shoulder length
red hair. They were both wearing kimono, had fans, and were flashing
peace signs to the camera. The girl with dark blue hair was evidently a
younger Yuko.
"The other girl in there is Reiko Kirishima."
The Tendou sisters looked up and gasped in surprise. Akane cried, "As
in the Chairman's daughter? The one who was killed a few months back?"
The woman nodded and continued, "Ever since they both met in
kindergarten, they've been best friends. And... they also went by pet
names. Yu-kun and Rei-kun to each other."
<Hmm, so this is Rei-kun. At least that answers something. > Nabiki
mused.
"But when the murder occurred, she locked herself in her room for
almost a week. Every time I saw her, she kept on mumbling Reiko's name
over and over. Tears streaming from her face. I couldn't tell if she was
asleep or awake at times.
"Once she got out of it, her attitude simply went from quiet to bad to
worse. She got into fights, misbehaved, and heaven knows what. I can't
help but worry about her."
Sadly, that was the farthest they ever got as to finding out what
exactly plagued the new girl. They thanked her for her hospitality and
left. All the while wondering what exactly was going on. Neither one
noticed the shadow that watched them leave the house. The shadow started
to growl. It was not happy in the least.
The fighting four were released and went back to their daily routines.
The only difference being that they keep an eye out for the one who beat
them so severely and easily. Of course, the only one who didn't change
was Ranma. Who was now more determined than ever to beat Yuko in combat.
It was that reason that the Tendou sisters decided not to disclose the
location of Yuko's home.
Despite Ranma was constantly training until his fingers were bleeding
after punching objects of all kinds for the rest of the weekend. He
would not stop. For some odd reason, Akane couldn't help but feel
worried, wondering if he was to go through the same ordeal again.
Well, the next Monday. Kuno was no where to be found as he was at home
healing his wounds. Yet, in his place, was Ranma. Waiting for the person
who beat him. Surely enough, Yuko came and while Ranma charged, she
simply waved her hand and Ranma was thrown several blocks away. What
shocked everyone was that she never even touched him.
After the initial shock, everyone went out of their way to avoid her.
Not wanting to share the same fate as Ranma did. So, school went on as
usual.
After gym, Nabiki was just putting her shoes on when she realized
something. There was no one else in the locker room besides her. What
was worse was, it was far too silent. Now she knew someone else was
there. She grabbed her stuff and made for the exit but was cut off as
she was kicked into the wall.
Nabiki clenched her teeth and held the part that hurt. She looked to
see a frowning Yuko, very much like an executioner before a condemned
man.
"I believe you have something of mine Tendou. I want it back." She
grabbed Nabiki's arm and started to squeeze the bone with an inhuman
strength. "Where is it?" Yuko growled. Nabiki felt the bone starting to
crack when she pointed to her book bag. After releasing the hold on
Nabiki, she picked up the bag and retrieved her notes.
"I'll get you for this Aso. I know people. They'll make you sorry."
Nabiki countered as Yuko started to walk away. What made Nabiki cringe
was seeing Yuko's smile. It looked like one who didn't even care for
life. Not even her own. Yuko walked back and grabbed Nabiki's throat and
whispered,
"Well... a dead boss can't give orders can she, Tendou? I am only
saying this once. You'll save yourself a lot of trouble and pain if you
just leave me alone. It's easier that way." With that, Yuko placed the
paper in her pocket and left Nabiki alone.
Nabiki decided to leave well enough alone. Yet, the worry that was
etched on her face caught the attention of her sister during lunch.
"Onee-san. Doshita?" Akane asked, after taking a sip of soda.
"Oh, nothing. Nothing to worry about." Nabiki lied. She had just faced
death twice and still lived to tell about it. Akane wasn't convinced.
She also noticed Nabiki's bruised arm and that led only to one
conclusion.
"It was Aso wasn't it?"
Nabiki suddenly paled. She was quick to deny it, which in turn only
answered Akane's question. Without another word, Akane stepped up and
left.
"Where are you going?" Nabiki said getting up.
"What does it look like? I'm going to see Yuko."
If there was one thing that Nabiki knew, it was how stubborn her sister
could be. Even about something as trivial as this. The elder of the two
tried to sway the younger but her words were ignored. At the top of the
building, Yuko sat, staring into the distance as always.
"OI! ASO!!" Akane screamed. Yuko turned to see a rather angry Akane.
"What's the deal with you? First you come here, beat up Kuno, then Ranma
and the others, and now my sister? I won't forgive that!"
Yuko also noticed Nabiki coming through the door, realizing that her
younger sister might meet a worse fate then she did. All Akane hit was
an invisible shield, pushing her back to her sister. Yuko stood up.
"Look. I know that you guys went to my home a few days ago and found
out about me. But it doesn't answer any of your questions. If I answer
them, will you leave me alone?"
Akane was more than happy to agree, even though her current demeanor
would have said otherwise.
"Very well." Yuko said, while extending her hand into the air. She
started to speak in that same unknown tounge that no one knew. Just as
Ranma, in his female form, was about to ambush the new student, both
Tendou sisters and she vanished. Taking Ranma along as well.
When they all reappeared, they saw all their surroundings to be quite
similar only everything looked a bit distorted. "This should be fine."
Yuko said, then sat back down. Ranma was just as confused as the Tendou
sisters as they looked at their abductor.
"Do you both recall the earthquake that occurred about the same time
Reiko Kirishima died? Well, whether or not you know, they were
connected. The quake was just a decoy, used by the people of another
world for an invasion. They were the people of the World of Nightmares,
but if you actually went there, it would say other wise."
"The only forces that came through was a recon force, sent to test and
prepare the Earth for an invasion and resettlement. I was caught in the
middle. Apparently, the people of the world of nightmares weren't
without enemies.
Their enemies, the people of the World of Dreams were also fighting
against the World of Nightmares. Their leader Valia, had lost the upper
hand and lost a jewel that contained great power. The leader of the
World of Nightmares, Rogles, shattered the jewel and gave the shards to
his subordinates. Making them all more powerful. It appeared the World
of Dreams and Earth were to die in this war.
That is, until I was thrust into the middle of this. By mere
coincidence, I received a weapon that was capable of turning the tide.
What was worse was that I defeated one of their greatest warriors by
mere luck."
The scenery changed into what looked like the Himalayan Mountains.
The three looked about, not at all feeling as cold as it should have
been. In agitation, Ranma yelled, "What does this place have anything to
do with it?"
"After defeating one of their best, I received a piece of the gem that
Valia lost. I was transported here. Not at all knowing what was going
on. That is, until Valia had appeared before me and 'requested' my
assistance." Her frown grew deeper,
"The only thing she did was blackmail me! If I get her stupid Phantasm
gems back, she'd bring me back home! I didn't have a choice. I went
along. And discovered that the one I killed back on Earth had a friend
which wanted my head. So, I killed her, got her gem and continued. And
so it continued until I got all of her gems back."
"So?" Ranma retorted. "What does that have to do with" Seeing Yuko, he
found words to be lost.
>From what it looked like, her eyes were starting to water. The scenery
changed again, to something more like a ruined city. "The last piece of
the gem was given to Rogles' greatest. Which, to my horror, turned out
to be my best friend Reiko. I tried to reason with her about it, but her
duty to Rogles was burned far to deep into her head, just like mine was
with Valia. Two people that came with me of their own choice were killed
by her." Soon the tears came stronger.
"I... I killed her and Rogles as well. With these hands. Every time I
look at them I see her face again." She clenched her hands and started
to growl as she continued. "Rei-kun wasn't the only one Asha, Shirix,
and Adam." With that, a small elvin boy with long hair, a gray robe and
a staff twice his size appeared.
"When Asha died, he died the way he wanted to. In the arms of his
master. I never wanted to be that, and he could have chosen not to go
with me. But he did!"
The boy vanished, to be replaced with a taller woman with a white cloak,
pants, and upper body plate armor took his place. The black streaks in
her white hair were darker than her dark brown skin. Also, her eyes were
colored completely black. No sources of white or any other colors, only
darker than the dankest patch of midnight.
"The same thing went with Shirix. She was the last of her race. She
could have stayed at home and lived. But when she left with me, she
stepped into her own grave. You see, the sunlight was poison to her
kind. When she left with me, the poison began to increase." The woman's
image vanished again and Yuko's tears came stronger. Finally, a gray
colored human shaped mass replaced the woman.
"And Adam. It followed me out of it's own choice. Just to find out why
it was created. I never knew what became of it.
When Rogles was killed, Valia told me of the chaos I created. AND
COMPLIMENTED ME! Countless innocent people were dying because of the
death of Rogles and I couldn't even pay for my crimes."
With no warning, she exploded. The ground shook, and fire erupted
everywhere. The three guests covered themselves as best they could. Soon
enough, the blasts subsided and in Yuko's place
It appeared her body mass had increased by half. She was hunched over
and growling like a animal that been provoked one too many times. Spikes
had grown out from her elbows, shoulders, and ankles. Black markings
appeared over the right part of her face, and her left eye was
completely black. Almost similar to the eyes of Shirix. She turned to
the three and growled, her voice sounding more demonic than human.
"And you wonder why I am the way I am. You idiots can't even see it! I
killed my best friend, threw an entire world into anarchy, and led
several people to their deaths. While _I_ got off scott-free, people are
dying! And it's ALL my fault!"
In pure rage, she punched through the ground, created another quake
similar to the first one. While still staring at the ground, she
continued, "I even tried to kill myself on several occasions. But I
wasn't allowed to because of Valia"
She turned to the sky and screamed, "VALIA YOU BITCH!! LEAVE ME
ALONE!!!" Then she collapsed and continued to cry, all the while
mumbling,
