You may want to check out "The Least One Can Do" by Jeffrey Wong, which has
pretty much the plot you've described.  Several chapters are in the RAAC
archive, with more at Jeff's web site.  Shori, the co-star of the fic, is one
of the best new characters created for Ranma fanfic.
