The same theater as before. Brian, Erica, and Atsuko are seated.
<Carter>: Wow! Another chapter out already!
<Natsume>: He's fast, I'll give him that.
<Brian>: And here we go. Roll it!

A crossover between Neon Genesis Evangelion

Written by Christian Clark
In one of the meeting rooms, the four Children, the comm officers,
Commander Kituragi, Akegi, Fuyustuki, and Gendou all sat, discussing the
more than probable attack. Gendou stood up and grabbed the attention of
all in the room.
"First of all. We all know that it's more than likely that SEELE is
going to attack. Most possibly, they'll be able to get UN Forces to
assist them in the assault. What's worse is that they'll have all nine
production type EVAs with them."
<Brian>: I saw one of the synopsis pages, this happened in EOE.
Touji spoke in surprise, "You mean there's more of them out there? I
thought the latest one was Unit 04 that vanished in Nevada!"
<Brian>: Evas, the near equal to Aliens.
<Carter>: You see Ressurection yet?
<Brian>: No, but I'm planning to.
Gendou shook his head. "When I last checked, there was only nine of
them. What's more is that they are all equipped with S2 engines. Where
as our Units 01 and 02 only have a half of one from the angel they ate.
So they are capable of instant regeneration should a limb be cut off."
<Brian>: Glad they mentioned that now, instead of Auska finding
that out in the movie.
This time, Misato had a question, "But who is going to pilot them? I
mean, they couldn't just have nine Children ready just like that."
"They don't need them. Before they sent Kaworu to us, they copied his
brainwave patterns and integrated them into dummy plugs. They've been on
stand-by ever since."
<Carter>: Now I'M getting that sense of impending doom.
Fuyustuki turned to his friend, "So, they're going to try for a Third
Impact whether we like it or not." In response, Gendou only nodded.
"That's what we have to defend. We need to make sure they do not get
the giant on the cross in the Terminal Dogma, and Rei. With both, the
EVAs can create an impact, and with Kaworu's brainwaves there's no doubt
of what will happen."
<Brian>: Deep gumba.
After a little deliberation, Makoto spoke, "Why don't we just destroy
that thing in the Dogma? They can't make an impact without it, right?"
<Brian>: Smart idea, except for a little known Law of Anime
Physics.
<Carter>: Which is?
<Brian>: Anything that can be used to destroy the world will
be kept in reserve by the good guys until they can find a way to use
it.
"We have neither the time or resources to do so. Besides, if it can
survive an explosion that created the Second Impact, then there's not
much chance of us succeeding. The only thing we can do is fight."
An uneasy silence suddenly fell upon the room. Fighting against the
government would turn the world against them.
<All three>: <singing> "It's the end of the world as we know
it...."
<ZAP> A large energy beam hits the theater.
Taking off her glasses, Ristuko said, "Then it looks like we have to
destroy those EVAs completely. Otherwise we're all goners."
Gendou turned to her, "That is correct."
Once more, Misato spoke, "So, if there is a battle, we need to evacuate
the civilian populace. Because with thirteen EVAs jumping around the
city, I doubt there'll be much left of it."
<Brian>: Unless you're in a fighting game.
In the elevator, Touji leaned against the wall of it, arms akimbo, deep
in thought.
Asuka continued to stare at him, not even knowing why she was doing it.
After hearing what was to come, she began to get this uneasy feeling in
her stomach. And it was happening every time she looked at Touji. Then
something came to mind.
"Hey... Touji."
He looked back to her, "Yeah?"
"Are you worried about tomorrow?"
"Of course. Who wouldn't be?"
She paused for a minute before continuing. This time her tone became
harsher. "Ok Suzuara, I want to get one thing straight."
<Brian>: Touji, watch out!!
He frowned and looked back to her. "What?"
She stomped over to him, grabbed his collar, yanked his face near to
hers, and growled, "You'd better come out of that battle in one piece.
Both mind and body or else I'll NEVER forgive you! Am I making myself
clear?"
<Brian>: Which part do you want first....oh crap....
<Carter>: SOULBLADE STRIKE!!!
<Brian>: <ashes>
He sneered back, "Of course I'm gonna come back! But you tell me one
thing."
"What?"
"Why are you doing this? I mean, if don't even care a thing about me
why go to all this..." that was when the wheels turned and something
went click.
<Carter>: <grins> We have COMPRENSION!
Asuka let go of his shirt, stepped back a bit, and softened her
demeanor. He looked at her straight in the eye as he asked,
"Do... do you really..."
Leaning against the wall adjacent to the one he was leaning on, she
nodded. She responded, "I don't know if it's because you've been there
for me or you've just tolerated me for being a jerk, or something else
but..." she turned to him, "I just don't want you to get killed out
there."
He was silent. Seeing her like this reminded him of helping her after
the angel that mind-raped her was beaten. He couldn't tell if it was
just some guy thing or if actual feelings were developing for her. Not
the girl that had given him a hard time, but this young woman who was
opening herself up, to him of all people.
He shuffled his feet, looked down and replied, "Well... it's..." he
racked his brain over and over again for the right words. He turned
around and pressed his hands against the wall. He wanted to say the
right thing before his usual impulsive behavior would mess things up.
<Natsume>: It's not just you, Touji...
<B&C>: And how would you know?
He looked to the left to see her looking up at him. She started to
smile and whispered, "Do... do you feel the same for me? For who I am?"
He looked back at her, after a short hesitation, he nodded his head a
few times.
He leaned against the wall with one arm and looked back to her, "Yes. I
mean, sure, when I first met you practically slapped my face off. But
seeing you like this, when you're gentle, calm, and open. That's the
Asuka Soryu-Langley I like... a lot."
She smiled and leaned against the wall beside him, "And when I first
met you, I took you for some typical boy. But, when you..." she started
to giggle, "...when you play the knight in shining armor for me or when
you thought of others before yourself, and when you're calm too. That's
the Touji Suzuhara that I like."
His face turned a little red of embarrassment and he looked down. Then,
he felt an arm wrap around his waist and Asuka leaning into him. At
first, he had no clue what to make of it. Then, he slowly put his right
arm around her and his hand gently clasped her shoulder. He could feel
her giving his waist a small affectionate squeeze of approval and leaned
against his shoulder like a pillow.
He heard her whisper, "You're cute when you blush you know."
<Brian>: Finally.
<Carter>: He's been building up to this for what..the last three
chapters or so?
<Natsume>: Indeed. About time.

Within the holding areas of the EVAs, one of the four souls suddenly
sparked to life.
<Asuka... I can sense her! > Ninohi said to herself.
<Brian>: When did she wake up?
<Hm? > Sanshi asked, waking up.
<Sanshi... I can feel mind her again! We can synchronize again! > She
said with evident joy.
<That's wonderful! Are you feeling better too? I mean, it was bad
enough that I was fighting you when Kaworu used you the day before. >
<Thank you... Oh, I would take a peek into Touji's mind recently. You'd
be surprised. >
Not exactly knowing what she meant, Sanshi connected with his pilot
briefly and saw the scene of the Second and the Fouth Child admitting
their feelings for each other. He found himself speechless.
<Now I know you two are alike! [snicker] >
<Well, at least they aren't fighting anymore... >
<...And? >
<And... what? >
<Doesn't that make you feel better? >
Sanshi paused, not really that experienced with matters of the heart.
But he could tell that this was something that was not of the usual for
him.
<Actually, yes it does. >
<Now I can show those jerks what Asuka and I are made of. > She
announced with a fiery fist clenched. Sanshi sweated nervously at her
newfound confidence.

Gendou was walking down to one of the deeper areas of the Dogma, he had
a single mission right now. Another mistake he was going to remedy. He
heard a pair of footsteps behind him, he suddenly pulled out a derringer
and aimed it at the intruder. Which only turned out to be Misato.
Without faltering, he put the gun back in his pocket and resumed to the
deeper areas of the complex.
"Don't say sorry or anything." Misato grumbled and ran behind him. At
another heavily armored door, he took out his card key and ran it
through the slider.
"It doesn't really matter what you'll see here Katsuragi. It may not be
here tomorrow." He said simply as the door opened. Within, a single tube
was hung underneath a large array of gray tubes. From Misato's point of
view, she could barely make out a human-like figure in the liquid. In
fact, it was a human. As she got closer, she could see that it was a
girl that looked exactly like Rei.
<Brian>: Both the second and third clones out at the same
time?
<Carter>: This could get ugly.
"What's the deal here Ikari?" Misato said with evident displeasure.
From a console several feet in front of the tube, he punched in a
sequence of commands. Underneath the console, he took out what appeared
to be a set of clothing. As he walked to the tube, the liquid drained
from the tube and it lifted up from around the conscious girl within.
"Reina, wake up." He said to the girl within the tube.
<Brian>: "Reina"?
<Carter>: Better not be named after a certain pink haired
spore I know.
"Ikari-san! What are..." the girl that looked like Rei asked as Gendou
handed her what looked like a pair of hospital pants and shirt. He
turned around to speak to Misato as the other Rei began to dress.
"At first, it was just a contingency or a backup for the Third Impact.
It's still that way now, only this time, what it's for is different.
It's to make sure that another Impact doesn't happen."
<Brian>: All those who are confused? <three hands go up>
Misato wasn't sure whether to believe him or not. But recent events had
shown that he was beginning to be trustworthy. She smirked and said,
"And here I thought you were some lying, self-centered prick. Guess I
was wrong."
<Brian>: <grins> You should see the thread on the Eva ML
on this topic now.
He appeared to not take any offense from her as he turned to see the
second Rei standing in the hospital clothes. "Let's go." He said to her.
She nodded and followed him out of the chamber. Misato walked up beside
Gendou and got a single look at his face.
He seemed more focused, surer about what he was doing. More so than
when he had the glasses. That still didn't mean she liked him, but he
was worthy of her respect. She took a brief glance at the second Rei
behind them and then back to Gendou and asked, "What are you going to
do?"
After a minute of deliberation, he turned to her and said, "To take her
anywhere but here."
<Brian>: Now, how can she affect the battle that way?
<Carter>: Seems his fatherly insticts just surfaced again.
<Natsume>: That's been happening since the story began.
"I see." With that, she walked ahead and back to the Central Dogma
where the other officers would be waiting for her.
*************************************************
Within the apartment of Seraphina Brown, she and Nodoka Saotome had
overheard some of the defense plans they got from a few members of NERV
personnel.
"So, if it is true, we have no choice but to change. Whether the
Seraphim comes or not." Nodoka said to her companion.
<Brian>: The Teknos are going into combat?
<Carter>: This I gotta see.
"But how can we do that without giving ourselves away?" Sera asked as
she handed Nodoka a cup of warm tea.
"You can use a sniper position from one of the buildings to keep out of
sight. Don't worry about me. I can take care of myself. But if worse
comes to worse, get out by any means possible."
<Brian>: Just to clarify matters, her Tek name is Arrow.
<Carter>: Ok, that made sense.
"Understood."
Nodoka took a minute to star at the stars outside. Sera joined her as
the contemplated what might be their final night alive.
*************************************************
On the outside of the city, two figures sat on the grass and stared at
the stars. The First and Third Child were in their school uniforms,
letting the gentle breeze move around and through them. They both were
arranged so that Shinji's head lay on Rei's shoulder and her head on
his.
<All three>: Awwwww....
Rei's arm pointed up at a particular set of stars. "Orion." She smiled
a bit and turned to Shinji, "I win." He huffed a bit and then figured
another to look for.
<Brian>: Did she see a galaxy on the belt?
<Carter>: <groan>
"Ursa Major." He said. Then, they both returned to looking for it. This
time, he won. After several more times of alternating wins, Shinji
turned to her, "Rei... about tomorrow... are you scared?"
She turned back to him, her gentle red eyes looking at him, "At first,
I would not have been. But now... because you're going to be there
too... yes, I am scared."
<All three>: 0_0!!!!
Shinji suddenly found the words he wanted to use not there anymore.
Also, he felt the same way for her, yet he had a little more confidence
in her ability as a pilot. He wanted to console her, the way she did to
him when Kaworu died. Yet, he was not as good as she.
<Brian>: So...both have cold feet?
<Carter>: Appearantly.
"Well, what if I promise you and you promise the that we'll come back
from this. Would that make you feel better?" He said.
She paused in deliberation, then smiled to him and said, "Yes, that
would make me feel better."
So, using a child-like pinky promise, Shinji promised that he would
come back alive from tomorrow's battle. Rei made the same promise to
him.
<All three pass out from the sudden sugar shock>
"Shinji... there's something I wanted to tell you." Rei said...
remembering a certain missed occasion.
"What is it?" Shinji asked, blinking. Rei took a deep breath in and
out, then she reached over, pulled his face to hers, and gently kissed
him. Despite the only experience he had with kissing was with a curious
Asuka, he kept enough of his composure to accept it. It was a kiss so
innocent, so pure, and so true, even if it only lasted a few seconds.
<Brian>: 9.9
<Carter>: 9.9
<Natsume>: 9.99
The difference between this kiss and the one with Asuka, was that this
one was more gentle, more affectionate too. He couldn't truly explain
it, but he couldn't help but feel wonderful going through that with
someone he cared about.
<Brian>: A-HA!! So he finally admits it!
As it ended, Shinji found that he wasn't the only one who had developed
a blush. Rei was also a little red as well. So, she moved her body
around so that they were side by side. She wrapped her arms around his
waist and he did the same to her shoulders. Shinji continued to stare at
the stars, but found it was her that had his attention more.
<All three>: No comment.
Rei felt like her soul was flying. Being here with Shinji and seeing
how they felt for each other gave her a feeling of indescribable joy.
She recalled that seeds, like feelings like these, if nurtured correctly
would grow strong and live for as long as it lived. She made a secret
wish that this would be the same way.
If she had told herself that she would end up this way now a few months
back before Shinji came, that Rei would never have believed it. Now,
here she was. In the arms of someone who cared for who she was.
If there was anything Rei was at that moment, she was happy.
<All three are sobbing uncontrollably now>
End of Chapter 10
[Warhammer comes out again.]
WH: Well, I guess I would call this one the 'shojo' chapter of the fic,
but I'm not totally sure about that. Actually, it's more like the calm
before the storm. But anyway, expect TONS of fighting next chapter.
<Brian>: This could get ugly.
First of all, there's Gendou. Most people despise him others merely
loath him. I just hope that this is a way to at least turn away a little
of that hatred at him. But he can still be a jerk, which he is in the
anime. I've made Gendou a hero in this fic, and I'm proud of it dag
nabit!
<Brian>: That's alright. I'm planning something a little like
that. Only it'll appease fans on both sides of the spectrum. :-)
At first I was hoping to put this into ten chapters, but looks like
it's gotten to 11. So, the more the merrier, that's what I say.
Next, the relationships I created. I certainly hoped that I paced their
affections right. I need to know if I did them right. I'd never forgive
myself if I did it wrong.
<Brian>: Pacing them throughout the story?
<Carter>: I'd say you did them right.
I decided to rename the second Rei clone, Reina. It still holds true to
the original and it's different. So it works out... I think. Also,
expect her to play a rather significant role in the next chapter.
<Carter>: Can't wait.
Finally; this may be the first time that actual Teknomen will engage in
battle in this fic. I was hoping for a scene like this to come about and
here it is! Woo!
<Brian>; Let's see....You have humans enhanced with alien
technology against the meanest biomechanical machines SEELE has to
throw at us. Plus, the Teknos are fighting alongside NERV'S Evas and
they may have an Archangel on their side as well.
<Natsume>: Wasshu is talking odds on the battle in the lobby.
Now, tomorrow will decide the fate of the human race. Should anyone of
the enemy EVAs or UN forces get through and capture both Rei and
Lillith, mankind is doomed. Can our heroes stop them despite the odds?
Find out in the final chapter of Seraphim's Judgment.
[Warhammer runs back to finish the last chapter.]
<Brian>: And it had better be soon.
<Carter>: Well, this has been fun.
<Brian>: I know. I've been taking lots of note to use for Rei in
Destiny's Path, but since I'm dealing with the third clone....<looks
around> Hey, where's Nuku?
<Carter>: I think she gone off to "talk" to Warhammer.
<Brian>: Oh. <The two run out of the theater> Warhammer, same
thing as before, RUN!
<The theater lights go down>
