This isn't so bad. I mean, this is *true* revenge, a classic

It's also an example of poetic justice, which, now that I think of
it, gives me an idea for the revision (a little bit of dialogue).

And you didn't get dumped in the
Nyannichuan! For that alone you deserve praise. :)
Well, I happen to agree that a lot of the vengefics didn't
really seem that terrible. If you gain power/ability, then the cost
of gaining said ability should (by far) outweigh the gain, or should
render the power useless.
"What matter is a man gain the world, that he lose his soul in
the process?" <--(what is the exact quote? I'm bad about that)

Truly this was a decent job. Either ending was good, and the second
was more depressing than the first. If you *do* go with the second
ending, though, cut out the part about the self-regeneration, since it
becomes somewhat irrelevant in those circumstances.

I think the second ending was better. The first one leaves the reader with
a sense of... hope? Not quite hope, but at least the idea that there is
still a life. I just think the last sentence would have made for a great
ending.
I also liked the image of bashing the head against the wall, in a vain
attempt to undo the "wish", but I do agree that it does lose relevancy.
Ah well, it was just a quickie after all....
