I don't know about everyone else out there but I'm sick of getting
responses to my fanfics which are essencially the exact document I sent

DRIVES ME CRAZY!!!!! These are also those clever people who put i
instead of I and so on so that the beginnings of their entries look like
they were written by a two year old. Don't get me wrong. I like getting
opinions on my fics. But it's the OPINIONS I care about not the little
junk.
It is times like this that I wonder if my past actions concerning the
voting are a mistake.
Stephen, we must be more than our egos. Yes, the recognition and
accomplishment are good feelings. However, they can be addictive if you
are not careful. If you write only to sate your ego, then I recommend
you leave. If you do not write with heart and show what you feel
inside, people will know, and will not be impressed by your work.
I once wrote because I had to - there were emotions inside of me that I
didn't understand and didn't know how to release save in my writing. I
still have to write, but because the ideas sing to me inside, not
because of my internal problems.
Stephen, people do not C&C your work because they wish to bug you. They
do it because they wish to see the best possible fanfic product out
there. They don't have to do it; they certainly don't get paid for it,
and they have no obligation to respond. Indeed, that line-by-line C&C
is the most difficult to find around here, and the most effective at
solving problems within your works. In other words, they just offered
you a fine gift, and you threw it back in their faces.
This ML was created for a reason: to give writers a chance to refine
their works with the help of their peers. This includes the very C&C
you whine about. If you do not wish to get such responses, do not post
your works here.
As for the "i" whining... don't look a gift horse in the mouth. They
are trying to help, and they are only human, after all. Some of the
most effective C&C on grammar that I have received came from someone who
was notorious for doing exactly that. Personally, I look forward to his
"i"s.
Finally, spellcheckers are only as good as the people who use them. A
spellchecker, used correctly, helps get rid of such unsightly errors;
however, if used incorrectly, the wrong word could be inserted into the
work.
