Along with that, suddenly, fanworks based on other series--back
to Tenchi, or now El Hazard, and especially Evangelion--are receiving a
lot of attention. People are scrabbling for a breath of freshness, once
applicable to innovative Ranma fanfiction, now a near impossibility.
There has been talk of forming voting forums for non-Ranma fanfiction.

I don't mean to insult anyone who writes fanfics based on these
series, but I have to question whether it's a "flavor-of-the-month"
reaction or not. In EVA's case, I'd guess it probably isn't, since
EVA has gained almost the same kind of popularity as SM and Ranma.
But Tenchi's popularity seems to be cyclical, and it's too early to
tell for El Hazard.

I resent that comment :P Heh heh heh...

El Hazard will triumph in the end after Ifurita with her kickass
Power-Key-Staff renders all other universes into Black Voids... starting
with Hello Kitty and then progressing to pointless hentai realms...

Of course, El Hazard is a bit iffy right now... In the US, the TV show
has barely trickled in. The 2nd OAV series will be in god knows when...
And compare that to Evangelion, which is over 50% released in the US,
Ranma, which has like every movie, 3 tv seasons, 6 OAV volumes released in
America...

I guess we'll learn for sure in the next two years.... :P

Until then, I'll probably the only person chaining himself to the front of
Pioneer LDCA begging them to release El Hazard a lot quicker... j/k :P
