INTERLUDE
Establishing Shot: The Starry Sky, Saggitarius is center screen. It
pans down until we see a house.
ADAM (Off Screen)
Geeze, where the hell am I? I hope
there's some one in this house that
can speak English.
A figure (ADAM LEIGH) walks on screen and heads for the house. He
reaches the door and slams his fist into the side of the doorway three
times.
ADAM
HEY! Is there anyone in there?
You can hear some rustling inside the house; the sound of feet rushing
down a staircase, then a young boy (TENCHI MASAKI) opens the door.
TENCHI
Uhh � Hello, is there �
ADAM
Yes! Someone I understand! <exausted>
Can you tell me where I am? I'm
awfully lost?
TENCHI
Well, I'm not too good with directions,
where are you headed?
ADAM
Umm, I wasn't really heading anywhere.
I was just walking home from the drug
store on Franklin. I know it sounds
funny getting lost in my own town�
TENCHI looks at ADAM like he's crazy.
ADAM
What? I'm not an imbecile, I was
walking and suddenly I got the feeling
that I was not where I thought I was.
And then there was all these trees,
and I ended up in some Japanese
person's back yard. Listen, just tell
me if I'm still anywhere near Oakland.
TENCHI starts and stops several times, then finally gets enough
courage to continue.
TENCHI
Are � I mean � do you know that �
What I'm trying to say is that there
isn't any Oakland near here � or at
all in this Country. At least � I think.
ADAM facefaults a few times, and then looks at TENCHI like he's crazy.
ADAM
What country are YOU living in? There
must be eight to twelve Oaklands in the
US. At least three in the east coast.
TENCHI
I'm living in Japan. At least, last I
checked, which is also where your
standing.
ADAM
<jokingly> JAPAN? Ha!
TENCHI looks at him seriously
ADAM
Your not kidding are you? Your NUTS!
I was in New York, maybe if I'm way lost
I've wandered into New Jersey, but NOT
Japan.
ADAM turns around and starts walking away.
ADAM
Thanks for you help, a lot of good it
did me. <to himself> Japan, really�
what a loon, must have escaped from
a mental institute.
TENCHI watches for a second and closes the door. ADAM continues
walking away.

Episode 1: No Need For Americans
ADAM
Now where do I go? Not like I have
much choice � perhaps if I can find
a road �
ADAM walks right into a giant blue MECHA that looks down at him.
We see the MECHA's POV has a greenish view of ADAM with smaller
displays showing information on ADAM's physiology. When ADAM
speaks, the words sound garbled but understandable.
ADAM (Not in sync with mouth)
Owww, my head. Who put this � Uhh �
Giant Robot � <panicked> verrrrry bad.
Must run �
ADAM dashes away from the MECHA back towards the house. The
MECHA powers up and jets off after ADAM. We see ADAM stopping at the
door of the house and pounding on it again.
ADAM
Oh boy, big robot. <yells> HEELLLPP!!
The MECHA races towards ADAM, it suddenly tries to slow down. We see
MECHA's POV showing warnings about hitting house.
ADAM
<whines> Oohhh, I shouldn't have gone
out.. should have stayed at ho �
The MECHA is almost slowed down, but it runs into ADAM, smashing him
through the paper thin door way into the foyer of the house. TENCHI
has just reached the bottom of the stairs when this happens.
TENCHI
What now?
TENCHI looks through the door way to see the MECHA standing there.
TENCHI
<softly; nervously> ahhh � <very loud>
RYOUKO ITS FOR YOU!
RYOUKO comes through a door on the Second floor and leans on the
railing that is over the foyer. ADAM gets up and just stares at the
MECHA, frozen with fear.
RYOUKO
Who could it be at this hour?
TENCHI
<loudly>IT'S THE SPACE PIRATE!
RYOUKO
Oh, right, Space Pirate.
TENCHI
<yelling>Yes the Space Pirate you
mean you forgot?!!!
The MECHA suddenly straightens itself and aim an arm cannon at ADAM.
TENCHI lets out a worried whine; grabs ADAM and runs up the staircase.
The MECHA fires at the space where ADAM was just lying. The MECHA
fires shots at TENCHI, ADAM, and RYOUKO as they run up the stairs
and down a hallway. It flies after them.
TENCHI
<panting; to Ryouko> Isn't there anything
you can do?
ADAM
You know, I can run if you put me
down, other than that �
TENCHI throws ADAM to the ground and they all continue running, shots
from the MECHA zing past.
RYOUKO
Isn't this fun?
ADAM and TENCHI shoot her mean looks. They get to a window as the
MECHA closes in on them, they all look in terror at the MECHA
approaching. TENCHI quickly grabs RYOUKO's hand and jumps through
the window, ADAM follows them falling not quite gracefully. They
look up at the window for a second, then continue running just as
the MECHA hits the ground where they were standing. They head away
from the house and along a path into the forest.
YOUSHO is sipping hot tea in the temple atop a mountain, when the
noise and rumbling of several shots being fired cause him to wonder.
YOUSHO
<casually> I wonder what is going on.
TENCHI, ADAM, and RYOUKO reach the top of a flight of stairs and
stop for a moment to catch their breaths. A shot streams past
TENCHI's head and they all scream and run away from the stairs
towards the Temple.
ADAM
<very out of breath> Aerobic isn't this?
A shot flies past and hits the ground in front of the gang. They
all stop and gape at the hole in the ground, then turn to see the
MECHA looking at them. YOUSHO appears at the entrance of the Temple.
YOUSHO
What's all the racket?
TENCHI
<yells> Grandpa!
YOUSHO
Well, well, well, who can even think
with all this noise going on?
YOUSHO adjusts his glases and the lenses flash in the moonlight.
YOUSHO is standing across from the MECHA and they look at each other.
YOUSHO draws his Boduken and charges the MECHA. In the middle, they
meet and YOUSHO slashes with his Bokken then leaps out of the way.
The MECHA flashes, buldges, and explodes.
TENCHI
Yeah! Grandpa!
ADAM
<Sarcastic> Very interesting, but can
you cut 3 meter thick Titanium with it?
TENCHI
Look!
The smoke around the MECHA begins to clear and we see the rather
shapely rear end of MIHOSHI. She wiggles around a bit then turns
her head to look at the gang.
ADAM
Is that �
MIHOSHI
Hold it right there Space Pirate! I'm
Detective First Class Mihoshi from
Galaxy Police, and your under arrest!
TENCHI
Space Pirate? <to RYOUKO> I thought
you said she was the space pirate.
RYOUKO
What? Are you joking, she's obviously
lying, she probably doesn't have any
proof. <pouting> Don't you believe me?
TENCHI
Well �
ADAM
<flat>No.
MIHOSHI
Oh I have proof all right, I have it
right here.
MIHOSHI rummages through some unseen pocket that seems unending.
MIHOSHI
Hmm� this is not it � no not this �
where is it, I know I had it � Oh, how
did this get here � and, oh I don't
know WHAT this is �
TENCHI and ADAM nervously sweat.
MIHOSHI
Ahhh! Here it is!
MIHOSHI jumps to her feet and hold out a rod that extends to create
a screen.
MIHOSHI
See? Here's my Galaxy Police ID. And
here is the Warrant for your arrest.
The picture changes to Mihoshi's picture with her information, then
switches to a warrant for the arrest of RYOUKO, the picture looks
just like her.
RYOUKO
<sinister chuckling> Well, you finally
figured it out. I was drunk when we
first met, but now I'll show you who
the real boss is.
TENCHI and ADAM scramble over to MIHOSHI
ADAM
Don't you have anything to protect us?
MIHOSHI draws her gun and points it at RYOUKO
MIHOSHI
Just hold it right there. If you move,
I'm going to have to shoot you �
and it'll really hurt.
RYOUKO
Go ahead.
MIHOSHI hesitates.
ADAM
What are you waiting for? Shoot her!
MIHOSHI fires repetitively, the shots hit an invisible barrier that is
surrounding RYOUKO.
RYOUKO
<chuckling> That's right, your hunting
big game now, too big for the likes of
you.
TENCHI, ADAM, and MIHOSHI nervously look watch RYOUKO. MIHOSHI is
still firing.
RYOUKO
Now it's time for retaliation, and plenty
of it, too!
RYOUKO flies at TENCHI, ADAM, and MIHOSHI, they all run screaming
as RYOUKO fires energy beams at them. The rush down the stairs
leaving YOUSHO alone by the temple.
YOUSHO
Hmmm, a busy night.
TENCHI, ADAM, and MIHOSHI barge back into the house though the broken
door way and run up the stairs, RYOUKO is close behind them.
ADAM
<panting>Isn't this a little familiar.
They come to the window again, they immediately jump out of it, this
time they don't land as well. MIHOSHI lands on her side and ADAM
lands on her. ADAM gets up and TENCHI pulls on her arm.
TENCHI
Come on!
MIHOSHI
No, wait. I can't move.
ADAM
Here she comes!
RYOUKO flies through the window, energy sparkles between her hands,
she slowly flies towards the three.
TENCHI
That's it!
TENCHI looks around, then picks up a hoe and points it at RYOUKO.
ADAM looks at the hoe, then at RYOUKO.
ADAM
We're gonna die �
RYOUKO flies down to the ground, the energy disappears from her hands
and she throws her arms around herself.
RYOUKO
Ahh, that was fun wasn't it?
TENCHI and ADAM facefault, MIHOSHI looks with amazement.
RYOUKO
You know I wasn't really serious, I
was just having a little fun you know.
MIHOSHI jumps to her feet.
MIHOSHI
You mean you're going to give up?
RYOUKO
I might just do that for you.
MIHOSHI
That'll make things so much more
easier. Let me just find those rights.
MIHOSHI looks through that unseen pocket, finally pulling out a pair
of rods that she separates to make a screen.
MIHOSHI
Okay, You have the right to remain
silent about all facts regarding the
cause of your arrest, you canno � HEY!
The screen burns in a brief moment of fire. RYOUKO is standing with
a grin on her face.
RYOUKO
Go on.
MIHOSHI
I think I know these by heart, Section
number 158 � or is it 178? Section
153? Oh, OH! I don't remember
MIHOSHI breaks down crying. ADAM raises an eyebrow and RYOUKO sighs.
RYOUKO
I could get to like it here.
It's the next day and inside the Masaki household, ADAM, RYOUKO,
MIHOSHI, TENCHI, YOUSHO, and TENCHI's father NOBOYUKI are sitting
around a table drinking Tea and eating cakes and various foods.
YOUSHO
Well, you are welcome to stay here
with us, such lovely ladies will
brighten our day.
NOBOYUKI
Yes, If you don't mind staying here
with us Bachelors, huh Tenchi?
MIHOSHI
Oh Thank you! Thank you so much!
RYOUKO
Oh great, more freeloaders.
TENCHI
You're the one who started all this
you know.
Everyone looks to ADAM now.
TENCHI
How about you Adam, what are you
going to do?
YOUSHO
You're welcome to stay as well.
ADAM
Well, I'm not a 'lovely lady' but I'm
sure I could find a way to brighten
your day.
YOUSHO
I'm sure you can help Tenchi repair
the roof after last night's firefight.
TENCHI and ADAM look at each other and grimace. Next shot, Tenchi is
sitting on the roof nailing boards trying to fill the holes. RYOUKO
appears next to TENCHI.
TENCHI
What do you want?
RYOUKO
This isn't any fun, why don't you come
and have fun with me Tenchi?
TENCHI
You know, you are the one who should
be doing this. If it weren't for you
there wouldn't be any holes in this roof.
RYOUKO
But wasn't it fun?
TENCHI
RYOUK�
RYOUKO puts her finger across TENCHI's mouth.
RYOUKO
No need for arguments.
TENCHI sighs and leans across the roof.
ADAM (Off Screen)
No Tenchi! Don't lean on that board!
The board under TENCHI's arm gives way and he falls into through the
roof. ADAM appears climbing up a ladder holding a couple handfuls
of support beams.
ADAM
<peers down the hole> Well, that's one
way to fly.
ADAM and RYOUKO look at each other and grin.
RYOUKO
I think I'm going to like you.
ADAM
<flat>Charmed.
Fade to black.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
INTERLUDE
Establishing Shot: Darkness, then Fade in. Earth, the big round globe
hogging the entire view with only a boarder of black emptiness around it.
The view pans backwards and suddenly a hand engulfs the Earth and
squeezes it until it shatters into huge asteroids.
Then Darkness again. A young girl's face (SASAMI) suddenly appears
and her eyes shoot open, showing the pinkish hues beneath her lids.
AZAKA (O.S.)
Princess Sasami.
SASAMI turns her head, then sits up at the waist. She is in a white
colored capsule with its transparent lid hanging a few feet above her
head. AZAKA, a columnar wooden servant is beside her.
SASAMI
What is it Azaka?
AZAKA
We are nearing a planet that Aeka
believes to be the one we are looking
for. She is already out of Cryo-stasis
and is on the bridge.
SASAMI puts a hand to her head and shakes away the stasismares.
SASAMI
Alright Azaka, I'll come to the bridge
in a moment.
On the Bridge, AEKA is standing in front of a large tree looking into a
big screen. KAMIDAKI is to her right performing scans on the planet.
KAMIDAKI
We are within full scanning range
Princess Aeka.
AEKA
Proceed with the scans, see if you
can find that scurvy wretch Ryouko
Various screens appear within the big one up in front, several things
are displayed on the smaller screens, such as Sine waves, spectral
analysis', and infrared scans. Of course, these things are useless
compared to the information displayed in the screens which we can't see.
KAMIDAKI
The planet is called Earth, its within our
district. There are high levels upper life
energy, as well as various unknown sources.
Ones of the screens lights up red.
KAMIDAKI
I have found the energy pattern you
specified Princess. Its in a highly
localized area of plant life, however,
I'm am also reading a strong Jurai
energy sequence.
AEKA
<softly; to self> Could it be � Yousho?
My fianc�?
KAMIDAKI
The energy sequence is being masked
by some other more powerful signal, we
cannot identify the individual causing
the signal.
SASAMI (O.S.)
Aeka �
SASAMI walks onto the bridge with AZAKA following close behind.
SASAMI comes over to AEKA and looks at the screen showing Earth.
SASAMI
Big Sister? Did I hear you talking
about Yousho?
AEKA
Well I � I was just saying how I hope
this is the place where that Pirate Ryouko
has gone after she trashed all of Jurai.
SASAMI
<annoyed> I wish you could think of
something else, we've been chasing
planets in this sector of space for the
last few hundred years.
AEKA
I know Sasami, but I feel we are close
to a conclusion. We will finally reap the
rewards for our long hard work.
SASAMI
<to herself> What reward is worth all this?
KAMIDAKI
I have pinpointed the source and laid
in a course.
AEKA
Very good, take us in.
We see the ship slowly heading towards Earth.

Episode 2: That which Speaks
TENCHI is sweeping up the area around the temple, ADAM is painting
the side of the temple. ADAM stops for a second and TENCHI looks
over to him.
ADAM
You know, this is exactly how I imagined
spending my spring season.
RYOUKO (O.S.)
That's because you don't have an active
imagination.
RYOUKO appears with her arms draped around TENCHI, he looks
obviously annoyed by this.
TENCHI
Hey! I � <sighs> Don't you feel bad not
doing any work?
RYOUKO
Oh, all you two ever talk about is work.
Tenchi, why don't you come play around
with me?
ADAM
Sounds like a threat �
A bolt of energy hits the ground in front of ADAM, the stone sizzles
a bit with the enormous energy it was just hit with. He looks over
to RYOUKO who has her normal grin on.
ADAM
Hey! I'm working with paint here, you
could set the whole place on fire. And
I doubt that Grandpa would like having
a charred temple.
MIHOSHI walks up the temple stairs with YOUSHO, she is playing
with some device that looks cubic in nature.
TENCHI
Oh, Hi! Mihoshi! Grandpa!
MIHOSHI
Good Afternoon!
RYOUKO
What cha' got there MIHOSHI?
MIHOSHI
This? Oh this is a utility tool given
to all Galaxy Police personnel, in
an emergency its supposed to be able
to do anything.
ADAM
What can you make it do now?
MIHOSHI gets a tear in her eye.
MIHOSHI
I can't remember! Waahhhhhh!
YOUSHO
There, there, Mihoshi. I'm sure you'll
figure out how to make it do something.
The cubic tool begins to glow a yellow light.
YOUSHO
<happy> There you go, you got it to
do something.
The light starts to get blinding.
TENCHI
Perhaps you can make it stop now
Mihoshi.
MIHOSHI
I didn't make it start. Oooh, I bet I
know what this means �
ADAM
What?
The temple and the area around it get dark, as they look into the
sky a large, plant looking ship appears.
MIHOSHI
<in awe> It's a proximity detector. <beat>
That's a Jurai royal family ship!
They all look up into the sky and see the ship settle over a nearby
lake. They all rush off to the lake to get a closer look. YOUSHO
stays back for a second, then follows. The ship settles above the
lake.
ADAM
I wonder if this is a good thing
RYOUKO
I don't think so �
Aeka is still on the bridge looking to the big screen. Suddenly a
smaller screen appears with a zoomed in picture of RYOUKO's face.
Aeka suddenly turns red.
AEKA
There's the pirate that took Yousho
away from me! KAMIDAKE! Target that
Pirate!
KAMIDAKE
Yes, Princess Aeka.
The ship suddenly lurches towards the shore, one of the cannons
emerges from the side and points at RYOUKO. Everyone starts to
shake nervously. AEKA's voice comes on over an amplified speaker.
AEKA
Ryouko, you will surrender yourself
at once to be tried for your crimes
against the Juraian Empire
ADAM turns to RYOUKO, who doesn't seem to be at all shocked by this.
ADAM
<sarcastic>That would be you, gorgeous.
RYOUKO throws her arms around TENCHI.
RYOUKO
Tenchi! You must protect me from this
vile creature!
TENCHI
Uhhhh � Protect you? How can I protect
you against THAT?!!
ADAM
Looks like an overgrown shrub. I bet
my Flo-bee could take it out.
AEKA turns to KAMIDAKI
AEKA
Is this thing on? Why aren't they
listening to me?
AZAKA
Princess Aeka, regarding Ryouko's crimes
against the Emipre �
AEKA
Later Azaka. I'm busy. <louder>
Kamidaki, fire a warning shot into the
lake.
KAMIDAKI
Are you sure that's wise? They haven't
fired at us.
AEKA
Just do it!
KAMIDAKI
Yes, your highness.
AEKA's ship fires off a shot into the lake, the wave that ensues
thoroughly drenches the gang.
RYOUKO
She is Evil, Tenchi! You must protect
us!
ADAM runs over to MIHOSHI, takes the cubic tool, and begins to mess
with it.
ADAM
This thing must be able to turn into
some sort of weapon.
MIHOSHI
Hey! Don't mess with that �
ADAM moves parts of the cube around until it starts to shake.
Shocked, he holds it up and looks at it.
ADAM
I hope this is normal �
MIHOSHI
Oh, that's normal.
ADAM
What a relief
MIHOSHI
For the self-destruct sequence.
Everyone facefaults and stares at MIHOSHI.
ALL
SELF DESTRUCT SEQUENCE?!!
ADAM looks around, then at the cubic tool in his hand.
ADAM
Uhh, here Ryouko, you take this.
RYOUKO
Oh thank you so � <alarmed>AAAAHH!
I don't want this!
RYOUKO throws the cubic tool at AEKA's ship. A screen on the
Bridge of AEKA's ship shows the small, cubic, tool landing on top
of the ship.
AEKA
What's that?
KAMIDAKI
<flat>It appears to be a Galaxy Police
Hyperdimensional cube. It seems to be
in the final stages of Self-Destruct.
AEKA
<nonchalant> Oh.
The cube explodes on the side of AEKA's ship, a large plume of
smoke is created that blocks out all view of what's left of the Ship.
RYOUKO
Oh well, the witch got what she
deserved.
TENCHI
<in awe> Wow �
ADAM
I wonder if that person is okay
RYOUKO
I'm sure she isn't, <cheerful> come on
Tenchi! Lets play!
AEKA's ship, Ryo-ouh, moves out of the cloud of smoke to settle right
above everyone. The ship has a black char mark, but is otherwise
unaffected. AEKA's laugh is heard over a loud speaker.
AEKA
Kamidaki! Azaka! Get them.
AZAKA & KAMIDAKI (sim)
Yes, Princess Aeka.
The guardians fly out of Ryo-ouh towards everyone. Floating logs
appear around RYOUKO, TENCHI, ADAM, and MIHOSHI and paralyze them.
AZAKA and KAMIDAKI, one by one, engulf them. On the bridge of
Ryo-ouh, AEKA is laughing at her handy work.
TENCHI's eyes flutter open, he is laying in a grassy circle with thick
vines hanging down around it.
TENCHI
Huh? Where am � I bet I know where
I am. <weakly> Oh, I just wanna go home.
I wonder how I can get out of here.
As TENCHI walks through a pair of vines, they quickly stiffen and
close around the opening TENCHI was trying to get though. TENCHI
tries to get through many times, and each time the vines close
around the opening. Finally he pulls out a small knife and attacks
one of the vines by whittling it slowly away.
TENCHI
Hah Ha! Take this!
SASAMI (O.S.)
What are you doing?
TENCHI
I'm trying to get out of here.
<pauses> Huh?
SASAMI is outside of the cage of vines, she walks closer to the cage
and to TENCHI. SASAMI giggles.
TENCHI
Who are you, little girl?
SASAMI
I'm Sasami.
TENCHI
Sasami � Are you a prisoner here too?
SASAMI
No, Silly. This is our ship.
TENCHI
Your ship, so that means � Are you
an alien from the planet Sasami?
SASAMI
No, we're from Jurai. What's your name?
TENCHI
Oh, how silly of me. I'm Tenchi.
SASAMI
Hello Tenchi! <giggles> Will you
play a game with me?
SASAMI raises up a control for the cage, as she points it to the
vines they move away like curtains. TENCHI wearily walks out of the
grassy cage, then looks around quickly.
TENCHI
Thanks Sasami, hey, do you know how
I might get out of here? I'm here by
accident, I really have nothing to do
with any of this.
SASAMI
I'll so something for you, if you do
something for me.
ADAM's eyes flutter open, he's lying in a grassy circle with thick
vines hanging down around it.
ADAM
Eh? Oh man, where am I now? This
is getting way annoying.
ADAM conducts the same experiments as TENCHI did in the last scene,
with the same amount of success.
ADAM
Now this IS an interesting predicament.
I wonder if someone will rescue me.
<pauses> I'm gonna die.
RYOUKO's eyes fly open, she's being held upside down by the two
guardians, KAMIDAKI and AZAKA. AEKA is standing in front of her.
RYOUKO
Well hello, Princess, you'll excuse me if
I don't bow before you.
AEKA
O ho ho ho ho! Ryouko, I finally have
you before me, now I can bring you back
to Jurai to pay for your crimes! O
Ho ho ho ho!
RYOUKO
<sarcastic> Oooh, I'm so scared.
The guardians send jolts of electricity through RYOUKO. She screams
in pain.
AEKA
You SHOULD be scared of the Jurai
judicial system, you'll pay dearly for
you actions against Jurai.
AZAKA
Princess Aeka, about those crimes �
AEKA
Oh, what is it now?
KAMIDAKI
During your cryogenic sleep, an amount
of 697 years occurred.
AEKA
So?
AZAKA
So by the Stature of Limitations, no
crime committed on Jurai shall be held
against a person in an excess of 700 years.
AEKA cringes.
KAMIDAKI
And as of this morning, the 700 year
mark passed and the Galaxy Police
destroyed the file of crimes concerning
Ryouko.
AEKA
Whaaat?!!
RYOUKO
Ha Hahah! Well, your highness, it looks
like I have nothing to fear.
AEKA growls and the guardians send large amounts of electricity
through RYOUKO, she screams until the pain becomes unbearable and she
faints. The electricity stops.
AEKA
<soft; slowly>Wrong you still have much
to fear.
A small spherical DROID comes up to AEKA.
NURSE DROID
Aeka. Its time to sleep.
AEKA
Not now, I'm busy.
NURSE DROID
I promised the Queen that I'd keep

AEKA
<frustrated> Oh, alright. Put this
� thing, in a cell.
AZAKA & KAMIDAKI (sim)
Yes, Princess.
AEKA follows the DROID off, then she quickly turns around and yells out.
AEKA
And find that Juraian sequence!
TENCHI and SASAMI walk down a path with cages similar to the one
that TENCHI was in on all sides. They come to a ridge and look out
to see the closed structure that is AEKA's bedroom.
SASAMI
There she is.
TENCHI
And you want me to get the hilt to
her sword?
SASAMI
Yes.
TENCHI
But isn't it hers?
SASAMI
Awww, just get it.
TENCHI
Okay okay.
TENCHI walks off towards AEKA's bedroom. When TENCHI is gone, SASAMI
walks back the way they came. AEKA is lying on a giant bed, asleep,
and clutching, very tightly, to Yousho's sword the Tenchi-ken.
TENCHI pauses for a moment at the foot of her bed.
ADAM is sitting in his cage staring up at where the vines are
controlled.
ADAM
I need to get out of here. No one is
gonna rescue me, I must find a way
out myself.
ADAM stands up and moves closer to the vines. Just as he reaches
them, they tighten up and block his passage. As he walks backwards,
they slowly loosen and relax their grip.
ADAM
There must be a way to get out of here.
If only I had my FloBee �
VOICE (V.O.)
There is a way �
ADAM quickly spins around, looking for the source of the voice.
VOICE (V.O.)
The Vines of Jurai are sensitive to
movement, and do not all act of one mind.
ADAM
Who's there? Hello? <long pause>
Movement, huh?
ADAM reaches into his pocket and pulls out a paintbrush. He walks
closer to the vines but stops before they close up. He throws the
paintbrush at the vines then quickly dashes out of the cage just as
the vines tighten, narrowly missing him.
ADAM
Ha! Now lets see if I can find the
others. <pause> I wonder if grandpa
wants that paintbrush back.
TENCHI is still where we left him, standing at the foot of her bed.
He slowly walks to the side of the bed and tries to take the sword
gently. AEKA's grip is too tight for ADAM to get the sword. ADAM
walks to the other side of the bed and tries again, with no luck.
He finally crawls on top of her and uses all his strength to pull
the sword from her grasp.
TENCHI
Come on, Let go �
AEKA's eyes flutter open and see TENCHI right above her. TENCHI
quickly grabs her mouth when he sees she's about to scream.
TENCHI
No, don't scream. This is not what
it looks like!
AEKA's throws TENCHI off her bed and screams out. TENCHI lands
with a thud and looks in his hand to see he' s holding the Tenchi-ken.
AEKA
AZAKA! KAMIDAKE! Get that Earthling!
Kill him!
TENCHI runs out of the room and into the fields with super sonic
speed.
AEKA
My my, he runs awfully fast.
TENCHI runs through the field with the Guardians following him,
firing at him, barely missing.
ADAM is walking down a field of cages.
ADAM
How on earth am I suppose to find my
way out of here? This place looks more
like a Zoo than a ship.
Snoring is heard from a nearby cell. ADAM moves closer to get a
better look to find MIHOSHI sleeping in the cell. ADAM slaps
himself on the forehead.
ADAM
MIHOSHI! How can you sleep at a time
like this?!!
MIHOSHI stays asleep, ADAM gets a discouraged look in his eyes. He
looks around the cell until he finds a small device hanging near the
cell. He picks it up and when he does the vines around the cage open
up. ADAM quickly moves inside and shakes MIHOSHI until she wakes up.
MIHOSHI
What happened? Where are we?
ADAM
You don't remember?
MIHOSHI
Nope. Not at all. Did we find that
Space Pirate?
ADAM hits himself again in the forehead then proceeds to help
MIHOSHI to her feet.
ADAM
We are on an alien spaceship. We
were captured by these big logs and
placed in cells. I have just rescued
you, and now we need to find the
others. Understand?
MIHOSHI
Ummmm� <pause> Nope.
ADAM
How did you ever get to be a cop?
Never mind, just follow me.
ADAM walks out of the cage with MIHOSHI following. He walks down a
path for a while until they come to a tree with a hole near the roots
of the tree.
ADAM
I think I saw someone jump into this
hole. I think it would be prudent if
we follow. What do you think Mihoshi?
MIHOSHI is standing by a nearby cage, laughing at one of the animals
in it.
ADAM
Why me?
ADAM grabs MIHOSHI, still laughing, and jumps with her down the hole.
As they fall, blue lights appear around them and they disappear, only
to reappear on the bridge and land with a thump.
ADAM
Ouch!
MIHOSHI
Oww, that hurt.
ADAM
Well that certainly is not a trip I'd
like to repeat.
RYOUKO (O.S.)
Hey! Yoohoooo! Adam! I'm over here!
ADAM turns to see RYOUKO in another one of those cages. RYOUKO
is by the vines and waving at ADAM and MIHOSHI.
ADAM
Ryouko! I've been looking for you!
RYOUKO
Well � <cheerful> Now you've found me!
Let me out of this cage will ya?
ADAM
Now now, what's the magic word?
RYOUKO
Don't mess with me!
ADAM rushes over to the cage and uses the device on it. The vines
part and Ryouko hovers out of the grassy circle.
ADAM
Come on, lets get Tenchi and get
out of here.
TENCHI runs down a path in the field of cages with shots from the
Guardians nearly missing his feet.
TENCHI
Ohh, just want to go hooome!
TENCHI comes over a ridge to see SASAMI standing beside the path
looking at TENCHI. She waves to him and the guardians as he
approaches.
SASAMI
Hi Tenchi!
TENCHI runs past and picks up SASAMI, the shots from the Guardians
still missing him by mere inches.
TENCHI
Those monsters are trying to kill me!
SASAMI
<cheerful; playful>Their not monsters,
their my sister's.
TENCHI
Whatever they are, their gonna shoot
me!
TENCHI approaches a pond of water where the path he's following
forks. SASAMI points off to the left.
SASAMI
Go that way Tenchi.
TENCHI obliges and runs left.
SASAMI
Jump in there Tenchi, they can't
get you in there.
TENCHI
Are you sure?
TENCHI jumps down the hole and the sounds of the Guardians hitting
the side of the tree are heard. On the way down SASAMI is cheering.
The blue lights surround them, and they appear on the bridge.
TENCHI
Oouch!
ADAM (O.S.)
Tenchi!
RYOUKO (O.S.)
My Tenchi!!
RYOUKO flies over to TENCHI and wraps his arms around him. She
then moves back a bit and looks at SASAMI.
RYOUKO
<annoyed> Who's this, Tenchi?
TENCHI
Uhh, This is Sasami.
SASAMI
Pleased to meet you.
ADAM
Hi Sasami! I'm Adam.
SASAMI
Hi Adam!
RYOUKO
<flat> Enough with these introductions,
lets get out of here!
AEKA (O.S.)
I'm afraid that won't happen, Pirate!
AEKA walks onto the bridge with AZAKA and KAMIDAKI at her sides.
AEKA
Sasami! Are you the cause of these
prisoners escape? Azaka! Kamidaki!
Get them!
AZAKA & KAMIDAKI (sim)
Yes, Princess Aeka.
The Guardians move forward towards the group. ADAM suddenly jumps
in front of them all and points the device at them.
ADAM
Stay right there! I've got this � and
I don't know how to use it!
AEKA
O ho ho ho ho ho! That silly key won't
do anything against MY key.
ADAM points the key at various things which, on command, do nothing.
ADAM slowly shrinks back with the others.
RYOUKO
Quickly, Tenchi! Do something!
TENCHI
<scared>What can I do? I don't know
how to fight these things!
The Tenchi-ken begins to glow in TENCHI's hand; vines from above swing
down and entrap the Guardians.
AEKA (aside)
How is he doing that? <pause> The
master Key, its reacting to him. How
is that possible, its only supposed to
react to people of royal blood.
RYOUKO
<chants> Ryo-ohki! Come quickly!
A loud "myaah" is heard in the distance and suddenly a spike from a
large ship spears into the bridge and is sticking out of the ground.
RYOUKO
Quickly Tenchi! Lets go!
RYOUKO puts TENCHI in a head lock and drags him into the ship. ADAM
and MIHOSHI soon follow.
SASAMI
<waving> Bye bye, Tenchi, Adam.
Inside Ryo-ohki, RYOUKO walks to a pair of globes that are near a
chair and puts her hands on them.
RYOUKO
I'm going to bring her down to Earth.
As long as she's up here she can
still be a danger to us.
TENCHI
Are you sure that's necessary?
RYOUKO
Hey! Whose side are you on anyway?
If you care for Aeka so much, you can
go join her.
Ryo-ohki turns around in space, and, because it has currently speared
Ryo-ouh, both ships start heading towards Earth. As they get close
to the atmosphere, re-entry heat begins to scald both ships.
AEKA
Ryouko! What are you doing?!! You'll
kill us both! Quickly, Azaka! Release
the outer hull!
AZAKA
Yes your highness.
Most of Ryo-ouh detaches from the ship and flies away from the ship.
The parts slow down the decent of the ship as it crashes into the
lake, skidding along the shoreline for miles.
TENCHI, ADAM, RYOUKO, SASAMI, MIHOSHI, and NOBOYUKI are sitting at a
table eating and watching Television. On the news is reports of people
seeing the crash.
NOBOYUKI
Hmmm, last night was an interesting
night.
TENCHI
Don't remind me, Dad.
NOBOYUKI
And what are you so upset about?
Everyone got back safe and sound
RYOUKO
Thanks to my ship. You know, I risked
my life to save us all.
SASAMI
But it was our ship that took all the
damage, so it was Ryo-ouh that saved
us.
RYOUKO
<wondering>Oh, so that's why re-entry
was off course.
NOBOYUKI
Hey, weren't there four of you girls?
ADAM
Aeka is outside trying to pull her ship
out of the lake.
ALL (sim)
Ohh�
AEKA runs into the house and stares at SASAMI.
AEKA
Sasami! What are you doing in here,
eating with that � thing! You must
help get Ryo-ouh free from the lake!
SASAMI
But the ship is too big for the two
of us to pull out.
AEKA
But we must try! We can take it out
piece by piece!
AEKA runs back out to the lake.
ADAM
Geeze, all that time in space must
have gotten to her brain.
RYOUKO
It figures it would happen eventually
to a person like her.
AEKA is pulling on one of the pieces of the ship hanging over the
coastline. She pulls on the piece until it breaks off. She falls
backwards holding the piece.
AEKA
Where is that Sasami? We can't get
stuck here! We just CAN'T!
AEKA trips and the piece of ship flies out of her hand and his the
ship; the ship sinks even farther down into the lake.
Fade to Black.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
INTERLUDE
Establishing Shot: Blackness. In the background a pair of soft
drums can be heard. The blackness zooms out and we see the
iris of the eye, it holds a distinct magenta hue. The camera
continues to zoom out until we see the younger face of AEKA.
She is crying on the shoulder of her older half-brother YOUSHO,
who is petting her purplish hair.
AEKA
Why do they have to be so mean?
YOUSHO
<soft> They fear of what is to become
of the Empire if it becomes impure. The
public doesn't think very well of humans,
they were very upset when they found out
my mother was one.
AEKA
But why does it have to be this way?
What do we have to fear from humans?
YOUSHO
We have a lot to fear, or the consul does.
Azusa is a powerful Emperor, but it is
likely that I will be more powerful. The
Imperial Science Academy discovered
a while back that human blood, mixed
with that of a Juraian, was stronger than
that of a purebred Juraian.
AEKA
But isn't that good?
YOUSHO
It is in many ways, and in many ways
it is not. The people are very biased,
they were in outrage when Azusa told
them that Funaho was human, and that
their only crown heir was of mixed blood.
YOUSHO puts his hands on AEKA's shoulders, she looks up
into his eyes, he is staring far off into the distance.
YOUSHO
But they are wrong. <beat> A strong
Emperor can only make the Empire
stronger, but that is out of sight for them.
They only see my mother, they look
at me and see only a human, not a
Prince or a Juraian, but a human.
AEKA
<determined>I know what we can do.
YOUSHO looks down at AEKA.
AEKA
You can marry me. That way they'd
have to make you Emperor.
YOUSHO smiles a bit at his half-sisters offer.
YOUSHO
Azusa would find a way around that,
he fears what the public would do if
he didn't do what they thought was
right. <frowns> And what would
you be? Just one of the Imperial
Wives? Wouldn't you like to rule
someday?
AEKA is silent. YOUSHO digs in his pocket and pulls out the
Tenchi-Ken, it has no gems in it. He holds it in his hand and
looks to the sky with hate.
YOUSHO
I don't know what I can do anymore.
Either I'll be forced to be Emperor
for a public that hates me, or I'll be
forced to leave by a father who loves
me. <grits his teeth> There must be
some other choice.
The sight of YOUSHO is drowned out by flames that soon
part to show a much older AEKA (the one we know) running
through ruins.
AEKA
<yelling> YOUSHO! YOUSHO!!
Ooh, my love where are you?!!
A large, flaming beam falls in front of AEKA, the flames flare
up and when they die down we see YOUSHO with the
Tenchi-Ken fighting a green eyed RYOUKO. They fight
with the fury and skill of the greatest swordsmen. In the end,
YOUSHO stabs RYOUKO in the neck and extracts a small
third gem that lands in his hand. RYOUKO suddenly kicks the
sword away and flies away in RYO-OHKI.
Cut to AEKA trying to navigate through the broken and flaming
wreckage. She suddenly looks up to see RYO-OHKI flying into
space with YOUSHO following close behind.
AEKA
YOUSHO!! Don't leave me! Yousho
� how could you �
AEKA pulls through the wreckage, tearing a few of her robes,
and dashes over to where the ships just took off from. A single
tear falls from her eye and lands on the Tenchi-Ken, which is
lying on the ground in front of her. It has two gems in it. AEKA
looks down and sees the Tenchi-Ken.
AEKA
Your sword � <looks to space> your,
not coming back, are you?
AEKA clutches the sword tight against herself.
AEKA
<cries> YOUSHOOOO!!!!
Camera pans outward into space, we see the planet Jurai
Silently spinning, RYO-OHKI flies past the camera, covering
it in darkness.

Episode 3: What Dreams Are Made Of
Establishing Shot: Daylight, the sun beating down on the Masaki
household. RYOUKO is lying on the 'Newly Repaired' roof enjoying
the sun.
RYOUKO
Ahhh, <sigh> this is the life. The warm
sun, a cool breeze �
RYOUKO stiffens and sits up. A "Myaaa" is heard in the distance.
RYOUKO
A child to start the day.
RYOUKO jumps off the roof, slowly floating down, then starts
casually walking towards the lake. AEKA is looking out the
window, sees RYOUKO, then quickly shuts the blinds. SASAMI
slides open the door and walks in. AEKA is gripping the Tenchi-ken
tightly against her chest.
SASAMI
Aeka, you have to come out. It's a beautiful
day.
AEKA
I � I don't want to.
SASAMI
You can't stay here. For the last
three days all you've done is stay
in here, Tenchi is going to get a
bad impression about us Juraians
if we don't ever leave one room.
AEKA
Tenchi � Well, I suppose I could
come down for a while.
Cut to RYOUKO walking on top of the lake as if it was solid
ground.
RYOUKO
Well, lets see. This looks like
the spot.
RYOUKO sinks down into the water. Beneath the tides we
see the wreckage from the two ships lying in twisted formations.
RYOUKO paws through the wreck until she comes across
a small purple egg, which she picks up and nuzzles against
her cheek. She rises back up to the surface and carries the
egg into the house.
ADAM yawns and walks out of his room, his hair is sticking
up all over the place almost looking like RYOUKO. He walks
into the kitchen and finds MIHOSHI standing by the stove with
an apron on.
ADAM
Good Morning Mihoshi. <perk>
What 'cha cooking?
MIHOSHI
Oh, hello Adam. I'm cooking
up a nice breakfast for everyone!
ADAM
Oh, that's nice. <frowns> Wait
a minute � what ARE you
cooking?
MIHOSHI looks around at the mess of cooking ingredients
she has gathered.
MIHOSHI
<worried> Umm, well, I don't
know. <looks up> Well, I saw
this recipe once on a show and
I figured I could do it, but I don't
quite remember what was in it
so�
ADAM
Sooo, you're just putting things
in a pot and hoping they come
out like you saw on TV, right?
MIHOSHI
<thinking>Ummm � Uhhh �
oohhh.. Yup, that's it exactly!
ADAM quickly looks into the bubbling pot and takes a smell,
which he instantly regrets as the fumes can only be described
as harmful.
ADAM
What on Earth did you put in
this?
MIHOSHI
Oh, you know, a bit of this, a
dash of that. Just like they
say in the show!
ADAM places a hand to his forehead and sighs.
ADAM
Okay, lets see if we can save
this before Tenchi wakes up.
<rolls up sleeve> Hand me
that spoon.
AEKA and SASAMI walk down a staircase into the living
room of the Masaki house. SASAMI gets to the floor and
immediately looks around.
SASAMI
Where is everyone?
RYOUKO raises her head up from the sofa facing away from
the staircase. AEKA turns her head away from RYOUKO after
seeing her.
RYOUKO
I dunno, Tenchi's dad left to
do work, and I don't know
where Tenchi is.
SASAMI
<sad> ooh, after I went though
all that to get Aeka to come
down.
SASAMI looks down at RYOUKO and sees the egg she had
from before.
SASAMI
What's that Ryouko?
AEKA
No! Sasami, don't touch that
thing.
RYOUKO
Isn't it wonderful, it was just
born today.
SASAMI
Wow! Did you lay that egg
Ryouko?
RYOUKO
Yup
SASAMI
Wow! So, you married Ryoko?
Who's the father?
A door slides open and Tenchi is standing in the
doorway.
TENCHI
<yawns> Oh, Aeka. Good
Morning.
AEKA
Tenchi, <faint> I just wanted
to say � to thank you � for
letting us stay, I � I thank
you for caring for � uh � the
Imperial family. So � Umm..
Thankyouverymuch.
TENCHI
Ohh, you didn't have to thank
me, it's the least I could do.
SASAMI gasps a big breath of air, that catches AEKA's
attention.
SASAMI
Huh?! Tenchi is the father?!?
AEKA looks startled then looks on Tenchi with scorn.
TENCHI
Huh? Aeka, you look mad, is
Something wrong?
AEKA
Oooh! Nothing! You just go and
have fun with your Monster
woman!
TENCHI
Wha ---
RYOUKO appears next to TENCHI with her arms Draped
around him.
RYOUKO
Oh, Tenchi! I'm so happy to
have given birth to the child
of the man I love.
TENCHI
Huh!?!
TENCHI gets this far off look that's cross between sheer
terror and confusion. RYOUKO puts the egg in TENCHI's
hands.
RYOUKO
Here Tenchi! Why don't you
hold it, it won't be long now.
The egg begins to shake in TENCHI's hands. It rattles back
And forth before spontaneously cracking open and reveling
the hind leg of a furry animal (RYO-OHKI). TENCHI drops
the egg in fear and the rest of the egg splits open to show
all of RYO-OHKI.
RYO-OHKI
<weak> Myaaa!
SASAMI
<deep breath> Wow! Ha ha!
RYOUKO picks up RYO-OHKI and holds it against her face.
RYOUKO
There, there, that's a good little
Ryo-Ohki.
TENCHI
Ryo-Ohki, your space ship? Does
that mean �
RYOUKO
A hahahah, of course, this is the
child of my spaceship.
SASAMI
Can a spaceship have a child?
RYOUKO
My spaceship was completely
destroyed, so it reproduced itself.
TENCHI
Oh that's a relief, isn't it Aeka?
AEKA
Oooh, I � I mean � I �
AEKA runs out of the living room into a hallway. There
she runs into YOUSHO who is on his way into the house.
YOUSHO
Woah. What's all the hurry?
AEKA
I'm � I'm sorry.
YOUSHO looks into AEKA's eyes, she looks back at him,
she suddenly gasps.
YOUSHO
Is there something wrong?
AEKA
I � no, I'm sorry.
AEKA runs off out the door. YOUSHO looks back at her
with a strange look in his eye.
A plume of smoke bursts out of the kitchen and into the
Living room, followed by many coughs. RYO-OHKI
jumps out of RYOUKO's hands and onto SASAMI's
head.
ADAM (O.S.)
<chronic cough> That's what
happens when you dump a jar
of pepper into an open flame.
Now lets learn from this.
Two figures come through the smoke out of the kitchen.
TENCHI runs over to them.
TENCHI
What happened?
ADAM
Oh, not much, just having a
little cooking lesson with
Mihoshi. I think its safe to
say that I've learned not to
let Mihoshi cook anything.
<coughs> You better let the
fumes clear before going in
there.
SASAMI
Are you alright?
RYO-OHKI
Myaa?
ADAM
Whats that little thing?
<pets RYO-OHKI> It's a
cute little thing.
SASAMI
Its name is Ryo-Ohki.
ADAM
Ryo-Ohki, like the spaceship
right?
SASAMI
Uh-huh.
ADAM
Fascinating.
MIHOSHI
Wow, you must really like the
name Ryo-ohki, Ryouko.
RYOUKO
You idiot, that IS Ryo-ohki. Its
the child of my spaceship.
MIHOSHI
Oh.
RYOUKO
Come on, Tenchi. I'm bored, lets
go play! Come on, come on, come
on!
RYOUKO backs up into YOUSHO coming in through the
doorway. YOUSHO wraps his arms around RYOUKO and
grabs her breasts.
YOUSHO
My my, the second time today a
beautiful girl has run into me. I
guess I'm just lucky.
TENCHI
Grandpa! I'm shocked!
RYOUKO
Grrrr, how dare you!
RYOUKO swings around to punch YOUSHO, he blocks her
punch easily with his fist.
YOUSHO
My, my, such spirit.
RYOUKO looks at YOUSHO, then at her fist, then at YOUSHO
again. YOUSHO walks over to SASAMI.
YOUSHO
So, this is your child Tenchi?
SASAMI
No grandpa, this is Ryo-ohki
the child of Ryouko's ship.
YOUSHO
Uh-huh, that's nice. <turns>
Tenchi, now that you have a
child �
TENCHI
Grandpa! That isn't my child!
YOUSHO
I think its time you have some
responsibility. You have to be
a good role model for your
child, Tenchi.
TENCHI
<louder> That's not my child!
<normal> You all are crazy!
TENCHI storms out of the room down the hallway towards
the door.
YOUSHO
Don't forget about your
training! <pause> Don't
mind him, he's the serious
type, like his mother.
RYO-OHKI jumps off SASAMI's head towards the glass sliding
door that looks out onto the lake.
SASAMI
What is it?
RYO-OHKI
Myaa. Myaaaa!
RYO-OHKI jumps towards the door until she hits it head on and
bounces back. SASAMI moves next to RYO-OHKI
SASAMI
Whats wrong? <looks up>
Oh, Aeka �
RYO-OHKI moves through the glass door and jumps off towards
AEKA.
SASAMI
Hey, where you- <hits head
against door> owwww. That
hurt. Ryo-ohki!
An explosion off screen turns everyones attention to the staircase
that RYOUKO has just punched into pieces with her fist. She is
staring at her fist and the wreckage with confusion.
RYOUKO
<blinks> What?
ADAM
Come on, Mihoshi. Lets see
if you can handle cleaning up.
MIHOSHI
Oh, I can do that.
ADAM
That's what you said about
cooking.
AEKA is looking out into the lake, some of the wreckage of her
ship is still visible. She is obviously crying.
AEKA
Ohh, I wish I could go home,
go home to Jurai. <looks
down> But my ship is destroyed
so I don't have a way to get home
or communicate with Jurai.
AEKA starts crying again. RYO-OHKI jumps up beside her and
nuzzles herself against AEKA's leg.
AEKA
Wha-- <startled> What are
you doing? Shoo shoo! Go
away.
RYO-OHKI gets closer to AEKA.
AEKA
Go away. <pauses> Alright
you just stay here and I'll
move away. <pause> Now
don't you think about following
me!
AEKA walks off screen, RYO-OHKI follows her. We see a
Bunch of scenes showing AEKA walking and RYO-OHKI
close behind. The last scene is AEKA walking up the stairs
that go to the Shrine. She turns around and looks back at
RYO-OHKI.
AEKA
I told you not to follow me!
RYO-OHKI runs off the stairs into the nearby brush. AEKA
moves closer to RYO-OHKI then stops as she sees a flower that
has a purplish color, very much like the color of her eyes.
AEKA
<picks flower> Royal Tear
Drop, but how is it -- could
it be?
A young AEKA is sitting in a field of flowers making a wreath out of
the various plants. A young YOUSHO walks up to her.
YOUSHO
What are you doing out here.
AEKA
You left me behind. <raises
wreath> For you.
YOUSHO
Thank you.
YOUSHO bows his head and AEKA puts it on his head. He picks
her up and rests her on his lap. She picks up another flower and
shows it to him.
AEKA
It's the color of your eyes.
AEKA puts it in his wreath, he abruptly puts AEKA down and takes
off the wreath.
AEKA
What's wrong?
YOUSHO pulls out the flower and holds it up to AEKA.
YOUSHO
This is Royal Tear Drop. It
should not be used for happy
occasions.
Cut to the firey view of older AEKA holding the Tenchi-Ken to her chest.
She looks down and beside where the sword was just lying is a tiny grove
of Royal Tear Drop. A tear falls though the air, sparkling as it falls,
and lands
on the petal of the flower.
AEKA is holding the flower in her hand and crying over it. RYO-OHKI
appears with a beautiful flower in his mouth and holds it up to AEKA.
AEKA
For me?
RYO-OHKI
<affirmative> Myaa!
AEKA slowly takes the flower and holds it close. RYO-OHKI clumsily
climbs up onto AEKA's lap. She softly pets RYO-OHKI.
AEKA
<soft; kind> You silly thing.
Don't you know that I hate
you? <soft giggle>
RYO-OHKI raises an ear up high, then jumps to the ground and towards
the forest. It stops half way and turns to AEKA.
AEKA
Where are you going? You'll
get lost!
RYO-OHKI
Myaaa! Myaaaaaa!
RYO-OHKI continues off into the forest, AEKA follows behind trying to
catch up.
Cut to a view of leaves, the camera slowly moves upwards until it is just
above the leaves. We see TENCHI with a Boduken, repetitively hitting a
log attached to a rope; at his feet are small wooden pedistals which he is
jumping from one to another while hitting the log. YOUSHO is behind him
looking ever so excited.
YOUSHO
Watch your footing, Tenchi �
TENCHI hits the log a few more times, letting out a short "Yaa" each time,
until his foot slips on one of the small pedestals and he falls down.
YOUSHO
<sighs> You must concentrate
more, Tenchi. <gets up> Now,
lets start with the standard
patterns.
TENCHI nods and they place their Boduken's on each other's shoulder.
The view changes so we see that it is AEKA who is peering through the
bushes, she suddenly gasps. TENCHI and YOUSHO begin a set of
complex fighting maneuvers.
AEKA (V.O.)
That swordplay. It's the
fighting style of the Royal
House of Jurai. Could it be,
could they know something
about my brother Yousho?
AEKA moves to get closer when she loses her footing and falls backwards
into the brush. TENCHI stops to look and YOUSHO hits him on the head
with an under the leg attack.
YOUSHO
Tenchi, whats wrong, your
a sitting duck.
TENCHI
Geeze! Is that part of the
routine?
YOUSHO
<flat> No.
TENCHI moves to the bush and looks down to see AEKA lying almost
upside down. He turns red and looks away.
AEKA
Oh, why? WHY!? Why
must I suffer this humiliation?
<looks to TENCHI> Gaak!
AEKA quickly straightens her robe down as respectable as it can be.
TENCHI climbs down to AEKA.
TENCHI
Miss Aeka, are you alright?
AEKA
I'm fine --
AEKA tries to get up, but her leg gives way beneath her. She lets out a
cry in pain. A close up of her leg shows that its bleeding heavily.
YOUSHO
walks down a path leading up to them, he is holding a bandage in his hand.
YOUSHO
Well, let me see what we
have here. <wraps leg>
Looks like you have a nasty
cut here.
AEKA
Thank you. Umm, Grandpa,
that fighting style you were
jus--
YOUSHO
Tenchi, you make sure she
doesn't walk on this. You
better carry her to the house.
YOUSHO walks as quick as he can away from AEKA and back to
his shrine. AEKA looks at the man questionably. TENCHI and AEKA
both turn to each other in confusion.
Cut to RYOUKO searching through AEKA and SASAMI's room. She is opening
up all of the storage units that are in the room.
RYOUKO
Where can it be? Where is
that damned sword that she
has? <sigh> Okay, if I was
the master key, where would
I be?
RYOUKO turns to the door and we hear the sound of SASAMI coming up the
stairs.
RYOUKO
Oh, boy. This isn't gonna to
look good.
RYOUKO jumps backwards and dissapears just as SASAMI opens the door
to the room.
SASAMI
Aeka! Aeka, are you here?
SASAMI jumps as she hears the sound of thunder outside.
Cut to darkness; a door opens and floods the room with light. TENCHI
walks into the room with AEKA on his back. Outside its pouring rain,
both TENCHI and AEKA are soaking wet. TENCHI sits AEKA down on log,
she shivers from the cold.
TENCHI
We'll have to wait here until the
rain stops.
TENCHI walks over to a pile of boxes and tools. He picks up a box full
of wood and sets it down between himself and AEKA. He picks up a ball
of newsprint, lights it with a match, and puts it into the box which
burns brightly.
TENCHI
There we go.
TENCHI takes off his shirt and wrings out a towel he had around his
neck. He holds the towel out to AEKA, who is still shivering quietly.
TENCHI
Here, you can dry yourself
off with this. <pauses> Oh,
I guess I'll, go outside for a
while.
TENCHI walks out the door and closes it behind himself. AEKA begins
to take off her wet clothes, after each robe she takes off, she hangs
it over the edge of the log she is sitting on. She leaves on her
undermost robe, and uses the towel to dry herself.
In the shadows of the room, a furry figure is leaping around between
baskets of vegitables. It leaps behind basket to basket before
jumping over and landing on AEKA. In the light, we see that it was
RYO-OHKI, AEKA doesn't see this. She screams.
TENCHI hears AEKA's scream and opens the door and runs in. AEKA
rushes over and hold onto him, placing her head against his chest.
AEKA
Oh Tenchi! There's something
in here!
TENCHI looks back and forth until he sees RYO-OHKI poking her head
out from behind a basket of carrots.
RYO-OHKI
<sad> Myaa?
TENCHI
Oh, its only Ryo-Ohki.
AEKA
Silly thing, scared me half to
death.
AEKA slowly raises her head and sees that TENCHI is looking right
back at her. The both stare into each other for an uncomfortable
moment.
TENCHI
<turns head> Oh � <long pause>
I guess I should go back outside.
TENCHI heads for the door. He stops just before he's completely
outside.
AEKA
Must be cold outside.
TENCHI pauses and looks back at AEKA.
Cut to the same room, an indeterminate amount of time later, TENCHI
is sitting looking into the fire. AEKA is a bit farther off to the
side, seeming to be staring off into nowhere.
AEKA
I guess I must have
misunderstood When I saw you
with Ryouko I thought that you
were her friend.
TENCHI
Well, I'm not. But I get the feeling
she wants something from me, or
from grandpa. She never did tell
me anything about herself, can
you, perhaps, tell me what you know?
You two seem to go back a long way.
AEKA
Yes, I suppose we do. You see,
about 700 years ago, she attacked
my home planet of Jurai �
The screen blurs until we see the day RYOUKO attacked Jurai.
AEKA (V.O.)
I wasn't much younger than I am
now. She was on a rampage across
our planet. From the patrolling ships
orbiting our planet, she started her
attack. Every ship that crossed her
path was destroyed, and soon she
was on the planet surface. To our
surprise, she had broken the defense
field put up by our originating tree,
Tsunami. She caused massive
damage to all of the Royal Family
Trees, before someone was able
to stop her.
The scene blurs again, and we see that same fight scene between
RYOUKO and young YOUSHO again.
AEKA (V.O.)
My Brother Yousho was that person.
Using the Master Key, or Tenchi-Ken,
he fought her with all his might, finally
driving her off the planet.
Cut to the shot of the planet with RYO-OHKI flying past the camera,
finally blurring away and cutting back to the room with AEKA and
Tenchi. AEKA has the Tenchi-Ken in her hand.
AEKA
But he wasn't finished. He took his ship,
the Funaho, and chased after Ryouko,
never to return again. The only thing I
have of his, is this sword, which he left
behind for some reason, and these
unusual gems that have been embedded
into the sword.
There is an uncomfortable silence.
TENCHI
My grandpa used to tell me a story
about my ancestors. How they
came to this land and the fights they
used to have. He was always proud
of one story about a fight with a
Demon from another world. He said
that one of my Ancestors fought a
powerful Demon that came to Earth
one day. He said that he beat the
Demon and sealed it into the Masaki
cave, and by doing so, he gained
the Demon's power, which was sealed
in the Demon's gems that it wore, giving
him long life.
AEKA
The Demon's gems?
TENCHI
He said that the Demon would be
sealed as long as the gem he took
continued to power a magic seal
placed upon the cave. Grandpa
said the man's name was
Yousho.
AEKA jerks her head towards TENCHI and gasps. She looks at the
Tenchi-Ken and wonders. There is another uncomfortable pause.
TENCHI
Can I ask you a question? What
are you going to do now?
AEKA
I'll search. You see, I have no way
to return to my planet now, so I'll
continue the search for my brother.
But it'll be difficult, because I have
no relatives on this alien planet.
TENCHI
<yells> Its all my fault! I caused
all this. You can stay here as long
as you like. <quieter> Besides,
I guess we're related too.
AEKA
Yousho was my half-brother. Here
you might find it strange to marry
your brother, but on Jurai it is not.
Even though my parents arranged
it, I was happy with the decision.
But the thought of not being able
to share these feelings with him,
it's � it--
AEKA starts crying.
TENCHI
His ship must have crashed here
just like yours did. And he was
forced to �
TENCHI stops, afraid to say something that would make AEKA more
sad.
TENCHI
So, � cheer up. <stands>
Cheer Up, Aeka.
AEKA stops crying and nods.
RYO-OHKI comes over to TENCHI pulling a basket of carrots.
RYO-OHKI
Myaa.
TENCHI
What is it? <looks at basket>
What, you want this Carrot?
TENCHI pulls out a carrot and holds it up for RYO-OHKI. She jumps
up trying to get the carrot. He shakes the carrot above RYO-OHKI,
then throws the carrot over her head.
TENCHI
Hop!
RYO-OHKI jumps over to the carrot and picks it up in her mouth. Her
eyes glisten with joy. AEKA giggles.
TENCHI
Carrots, huh? Eat a lot of those
and you'll grow up to be a Space
Ship. <laughs>
RYO-OHKI
Myaa, myaaa!
Cut to ADAM standing by the sliding glass door looking out over the
lake. SASAMI and RYOUKO are sitting in the living room behind him.
ADAM
Looks like the rain has stopped.
Maybe we should go out and see
where Aeka and Tenchi are.
SASAMI
Good Idea!
RYOUKO (V.O.)
Maybe Aeka has that sword with
her. Yeah, that's it!
A loud crash is heard off screen.
MIHOSHI (O.S.)
Ooops.
ADAM
<sigh> I cleaned up after her last
time. It's someone else's turn.
ADAM opens the glass door and walks out, SASAMI and RYOUKO follow
close behind.
Cut to TENCHI walking down a path with AEKA on his back, RYO-OHKI
is also close behind with a bundle of carrots strapped to her back.
TENCHI
Would you like to see the Masaki
cave? Maybe we can find some
clues about Yousho.
AEKA looks off to the side of the path. Cut to a large grove of
trees with one giant tree in the center.
AEKA
What's that?
TENCHI
Oh, that's the holy tree of the
Masaki shrine. Wonder stories
hang from it. One of the stories
say if you make a wish under a
full moon it'll come true. Another
story says that if you pray to it
you can make rain come. Would
you like to see it?
AEKA
<nods> Yes.
AEKA and TENCHI are standing by the giant tree, which is growing in
the middle of a pond with stepping stones all around it.
AEKA
There is no doubt. This is Funaho.
TENCHI
Funaho?
AEKA
My brother's space ship. Remember
there was a tree like this inside of my
space ship. It is the heart of the
space ship.
TENCHI
Wow, this turns into one of those
giant space ships?
AEKA
No, this one has taken root, it can't
become a space ship anymore.
AEKA pulls the Tenchi-Ken out from under her robe and hits it against
the tree a few times. The end of the Tenchi-Ken sparks for a second and
the leaves of the tree begin to emit rays of multicolored light into
the pond.
TENCHI
Wha -- What's happening?
AEKA
This is the memory of the tree.
TENCHI
The memory �
Everything become inverted for a second, then it fades away and we
see YOUSHO's ship flying into orbit of Earth with RYO-OHKI. Funaho
fires off a bunch of shot at RYO-OHKI that hit the hull and cause big
explosions and the ship begins to crash. Funaho follows the ship down.
AEKA (V.O.)
That's my brother ship!
TENCHI (V.O.)
And that's Ryo-Ohki!
Ryo-Ohki crashes in a giant supernova into the ground. Several
scenes flash by of Young YOUSHO and RYOUKO fighting.
TENCHI (V.O.)
That must be Yousho. And look
at Ryouko, she looks scary.
YOUSHO has one of RYOUKO's gems in his hand, and its fighting with
a normal sword. RYOUKO keeps making grabs at the gem YOUSHO
has in his hand. They are fighting in a deep crater.
TENCHI (V.O.)
This must be how the lake was made.
RYOUKO makes a sweeping grab for the gem, we see YOUSHO raise his
sword up high and cut down off screen. Cut to YOUSHO standing next to
a large stone within the Masaki cave, he holds the gem out, then
sticks it into the stone where it becomes slightly embedded.
TENCHI (V.O.)
This must be the imprisonment that
Grandpa talks about.
Cut to the outside of the cave, much later, a young TENCHI walks up
to the entrance of the cave.
TENCHI (V.O.)
That's me, I couldn't have been more
than five years old.
Young TENCHI walks deep into the cave and comes up to the stone
that YOUSHO was at before. He looks at the gem and touches it. The
gem flares up and glows, separating itself from the stone, and
landing in TENCHI's hand. The stone then breaks apart, several
pieces of the rock landing on TENCHI, burying him. RYOUKO appears
in place of the stone and flys away.
TENCHI (V.O.)
Oh, my. I released Ryouko from
her imprisonment. I am responsible.
The scene changes one last time to show older YOUSHO and NOBUYUKI
pulling TENCHI from the wreckage. YOUSHO takes the gem from TENCHI's
hand and secretly puts it in his robes. The images fade away into
nothing, the lights coming from the tree completely stop. AEKA and
TENCHI are standing by the tree still.
AEKA
He is alive. I'm sure of it. If
Funaho is alive, then Yousho
must be alive as well. <turns>
I've been mean to you, I've been
harsh and I apologize.
AEKA holds out the Tenchi-Ken to TENCHI.
AEKA
This is yours.
TENCHI
I don't understand.
AEKA
You are related to my brother
Yousho, the crown prince of
Jurai, by blood and I am asking
you if you would protect us
until he can be found.
TENCHI looks at the sword solemnly.
SASAMI (O.S.)
Aeka!
SASAMI walks across the pond using the stepping stones, RYO-OHKI
is on her shoulder.
AEKA
Sasami.
SASAMI
I was so worried about you.
AEKA
I'm sorry to have troubled you,
did you come all this way by
yourself?
SASAMI
Oh, no. Ryouko and Adam was
with us, and Ryo-Ohki led us
half the way.
AEKA
<laughs> Oh you are such a
silly thing aren't you?
RYOUKO (O.S.)
Now, isn't this a friendly scene.
RYOUKO appears with ADAM holding onto her legs. He slips off and
lands in the pond. When he resurfaces, RYOUKO stands on his head.
ADAM
That's the last time I travel with
YOU Ryouko.
ADAM stops and looks up at RYOUKO, who is on his head.
ADAM
<screams> GET OFF!
RYOUKO gives her evil grin and dissapears, then reappears next
to TENCHI.
RYOUKO
Tell me Tenchi, why were you
with this unworthy girl this whole
time, huh?
TENCHI
Because I had to, Okay? Lady
Aeka hurt herself.
RYOUKO
Hey, Tenchi! Looks like you
have yourself an interesting
sword there, mind letting me
see it?
TENCHI
I don't think so Ryouko. I know
what your up to.
RYOUKO
Up to? I'm not up to anything.
TENCHI
Yeah, right.
ADAM walks up to them, soaking wet.
ADAM
Did I miss a conversation? What
are you all talking about?
AEKA
Lord Tenchi is related to me
by blood.
RYOUKO
Uh-huh. Isn't that fascinating.
Well, if you won't even let me
see your sword, I'm outta here.
Sheesh, this is what you get for
trying to help someone.
RYOUKO flies off and disappears.
ADAM
Petty isn't she?
AEKA
I think its time we headed home
home now, come Lord Tenchi.
AEKA drags TENCHI across the stepping stones.
ADAM
Its never boring here, I'd have
to say that.
SASAMI
No, not at all.
RYO-OHKI
Myaa!
SASAMI follows after AEKA and TENCHI. ADAM turns around and takes
another look at the tree.
VOICE (V.O.)
She is a very interesting one.
ADAM spins around and searches for the source of the voice.
VOICE (V.O.)
Her power will one day be great.
ADAM continues to look around for the voice.
ADAM
What power? Sasami has power?
VOICE (V.O.)
Yes. Her power is that of all Jurai,
it is merely being masked by her
youth.
ADAM
<louder> What power?
VOICE (V.O.)
You will see her power soon. But
you wont recognize her. But her
power wont be enough, that is why
I've sent you here.
ADAM
<angry> Sent me?! Who is this?
Who are you? How are you
responsible for my being here?
VOICE (V.O.)
You made a deal with me. I would
call on you when needed. You
probably don't remember.
ADAM
I don't remember anything like that.
Who are you?
VOICE (V.O.)
I am the one who is controlling your
fate now. You promised me you
would help me in places I couldn't
get to myself. It is very important
that you be here, now. I can't
tell you what to do, but you will know.
ADAM
Why me? What did I do to deserve
this?
VOICE (V.O.)
When you have completed everything
that needs to be done, I'll return for
you. I can give you only a warning,
you are amidst beings of enormous
power, don't forget that you have none.
ADAM
Wait! Who are you? What does all
that mean! <screams> WAIT!
The camera pans backwards until ADAM is just a speck. Cut to space,
a large ship flies past, blanketing a planet in darkness. It changes
its course and points itself towards Earth.
Fade to Black.

INTERLUDE
Establishing Shot: Darkness. As V.O. proceeds, fade into starry expanse
panning across the various constellations and systems before finally
settling
on the eastern hemisphere of earth.
ADAM (V.O.)
When I was young, I used to look
out into space and wonder what
life was out there. My greatest
dream would be to one day grow
up to help work on launching an
interstellar ship and meet who or
whatever was out there. <beat>
When I finally realized that the
possibility of such an occurrence
was so slim, I began to concentrate
my efforts in making those creatures
come to earth. Not in ships or in sub-
space portals, but in the imagery
of the human mind. My dreams were
now filled with making the New York
Times bestseller list, an event that
I'm sad to say never happened.
It was funny, or maybe ironic, that
I was thinking about those times,
when I was young, at the time I
stumbled across Tenchi Masaki's
house only four days ago. <beat>
Excerpt from the fourth Chapter

Quickly zoom into Japan and to the Masaki household where AZAKA
and KAMIDAKE are standing at the gates to the property. The newspaper
boy rolls up on a bike and leans over to push a paper through the
slot on one side of AZAKA.
AZAKA
Thank you good sir.
The boy quickly stumbles backwards and AZAKA turns to face the boy.
He, of course, screams and runs away, tugging his bike behind him.
KAMIDAKE
What do you think was the problem?
AZAKA
I don't know.
Cut to the inside of the Masaki household. ADAM slowly walks down
the staircase in one of Tenchi's work outfits. He's buttoning up the
shirt as he walks.
ADAM
<mumbles to himself> I gotta get
myself a wardrobe, I can hardly
stand these outfits anymore.
Pan backwards to show TENCHI facing away from
the staircase in a couch.
ADAM
Hey, Tenchi. You know, these
pants are kinda small, maybe
you father has something I can
use.
Cut to TENCHI's face, he starting off out of the house towards the lake
that the couch faces. ADAM stops in his tracks when he doesn't get a
response from TENCHI.
ADAM
<louder> YO!
TENCHI jerks up and looks at ADAM.
TENCHI
Sorry, <beat> I don't think
my father has anything you
could fit in, he isn't that much
bigger than me. You could
wear one of the robes that
Grandpa has though.
ADAM raises his hands in defeat.
ADAM
Oh, no. I definitely won't
wear one of those. I should
be fine with the clothes I
came in. I'll just wash them
up and wear 'em again. <beat>
So what were you thinking
about that you didn't notice
me?
TENCHI
Oh, just about what I saw in
Funaho's mind yesterday. I
was wondering about something
I saw, about the cave by my
Grandpa's shrine. <beat>
Hey, would you mind checking
it out with me?
ADAM
<wearily> Uhhh�

Episode 4: Yousho Revealed
Establishing Shot: The Masaki cave. TENCHI and ADAM are standing
outside of the cave staring in.
ADAM
Do we knock?
TENCHI
<sarcastic> Very funny.
ADAM
Honestly, what are we doing
here? I promised I'd come with
you, but we're just standing out
here. What are you expecting?
TENCHI
Nothing <pause> nothing. Lets
go in.
ADAM shrugs and starts walking into the cave, TENCHI follows shortly
behind him. Half way into the cave they find a gate that looks
surprisingly new.
ADAM
Natch.
TENCHI
I'm sorry?
ADAM
Nothing. This doesn't look
too old, can't be more than
10 years old. Assuming no
one has been in here polishing
it every day.
TENCHI
<quietly> 13 years would fit
better.
ADAM
Did you say something?
TENCHI
No.
ADAM
Are we looking for anything in
particular?
TENCHI
I'll know it when I see it.
ADAM
I hate people who say that,
I never know what to expect.
TENCHI does a sweeping kick against the gate and its flies back
on its hinges. ADAM looks impressed.
ADAM
I suppose there is always more
than one way to skin a cat.
TENCHI
Come on.
TENCHI leads them now. As they continue farther into the cave they
see signs of more and more disrepair, until they come across a part
of the cave that almost completely caved in.
ADAM
Lemme guess, we're getting
closer?
TENCHI
Yup, this is looking familiar.
ADAM
<inaudible> Familiar?
They climb over the fallen debris and continue down the cave until
they come to part where it looks like a giant boulder had been split
open.
TENCHI
This is it. This is what I'm
looking for.
ADAM
Okay, now will you tell me
why we're looking for the Flintstones?
TENCHI
Flintstones?
ADAM
Forget it, I'm playing to the wrong
audience. Just tell me what we
found.
TENCHI
This is the rock that Ryouko was
imprisoned in. I accidentally let
her loose when I was only five
years old. And if what I saw in
the memory of Funaho was right �
TENCHI begins moving through rocks, picking them up and throwing
them places. ADAM is afraid to help, in case he moves what TENCHI
is looking for, so he just watches. TENCHI stops when he comes to
one unmarked stone.
ADAM
Found something?
TENCHI holds up the stone, on the side it has several Japanese
characters that pretty much outline the specifics of the seal that
was placed on RYOUKO. There is a small hole in the rock.
TENCHI
This seal was made by Yousho,
Aeka's brother, it operated off
a special gem that Ryouko uses
for power. I just bet, that if I use
my gem on this, I could find Yousho.
ADAM
Is this a personal theory, or do
you have any information to back
this up?
TENCHI
If I can get the seal to work, I
can follow the energy of one
of the gems to find the others.
ADAM
I guess it doesn't hurt to try,
just as long as you don't seal
ME in that rock for an eon.
ADAM helps TENCHI move the rock over to a section of the cave that
is flatter. TENCHI takes out the Tenchi-Ken and holds it next to the
rock.
TENCHI
Now, how did I do this before?
TENCHI places a finger on the gem. The gem glows for a minute then
dislodges itself from the sword and lands in TENCHI's hand. He sticks
the gem slowly into the rock. They both wait for the light show,
which never comes.
ADAM
What happened? Is our credit
bad?
The stone lifts itself off the ground and begins to shake. The rest
of the cave also begins to shutter.
ADAM
I don't think this cave can take
this sort of action.
TENCHI
I think your right, lets get out of
here.
TENCHI moves to get the gem from the rock when it emits a beam
of white light straight up and out of the cave, into space. After a
second of the light, it abruptly stops and the stone comes crashing
into the ground. The cave continues to shake, parts of the ceiling
are now falling around TENCHI and ADAM.
ADAM
Hurry, Tenchi!
TENCHI
I'm going as fast as I can, I
just have to --
TENCHI pulls the gem out of the rock and drops it. It rolls around
on the ground, under a piece of rock.
TENCHI
I dropped the gem!
A large rock slams into the ground between TENCHI and ADAM.
ADAM
What do you mean dropped?!
TENCHI and ADAM frantically look for the gem, while dodging falling
pieces of rock. During the shaking, the gem rolls out and stops by
ADAM's foot.
TENCHI
There it is! <points> Get it!
ADAM
<looks at gem> Right! Get
out of here.
TENCHI moves to get out, ADAM reaches down and picks up the gem
then runs after TENCHI. Just as he leaves the one section of cave, it
collapses. Both TENCHI and ADAM start running as fast as they can
out of the cave.
ADAM
Faster, Tenchi, Faster!
ADAM's hand begins to smoke, he lets out a scream. As the come to
the entrance of the cave they both dive out as the section above them
collapses, pushing out plumes of smoke. They both breathe deeply
as they watch the cave continue to collapse.
ADAM
<between breaths> Well,
that was a sterling success.
TENCHI
I had no idea �
ADAM
<yells out> Ooww! <normal>
Damn you, this thing is burning
me.
TENCHI
Here, I'll put it back in the
sword.
ADAM goes to give the gem to TENCHI, just as he opens his hand he
freezes. They both look into his palm.
TENCHI
What happened?
ADAM
It -- its embedded into my hand!
Cut to space, pan across a few stars before it's all blocked off by a giant
ship that flies in orbit of earth. Fade into the ship, across a great
hall, a
beautiful looking organ, and finally the back of a man dressed in greens
with whitish hair looking down into a globe. Pan over his shoulder to
look into the globe which is showing a playback of the beam from Tenchi's
gem. The globe goes black and we see the reflection of the man who we
can clearly see is KATAGO.
KATAGO
Now Ryouko, we will finish what
we had started 700 years ago.
The image of KATAGO shimmers and disappears in a cloud of green
energy. Fade to black.
A part of the blackness is pealed away and we see RYOUKO'S face.
ADAM (V.O.)
Ryouko! Stop that!
Cut to the inside of the Masaki house, ADAM is replacing the bandage
over his hand that RYOUKO had just pulled off. AEKA is sitting in a
nearby sofa with SASAMI.
RYOUKO
Awww, come on. Lemme see it!
ADAM
Absolutely not! What's wrong
with you, this is serious.
TENCHI walks in from the kitchen with a piece of plant and a glass of
water.
TENCHI
Ryouko, stop bugging him.
<beat> Here Adam, this is
Grandpa's secret pain relief
herb.
ADAM looks at the plant in disgust.
ADAM
And I gotta eat this?
TENCHI nods.
ADAM
<sighs, grabs the herb> When
did I end up in an episode of
Dr. Quinn? Gimme that glass.
ADAM takes the herb, and quickly after, the water. RYOUKO goes
back to clinging to TENCHI.
RYOUKO
You know, Tenchi, if you had
given me the gems like I had
asked before, you wouldn't have
these problems.
AEKA
If we had given you those gems,
we'd have a whole different set
of problems to worry about.
RYOUKO
Yes, but you wouldn't have
*these* problems, princess.
ADAM
If you're so good with these gems
why don't YOU try to take them out?
RYOUKO teleports away from Tenchi and behind ADAM, then proceeds
to drape her arms around him.
RYOUKO
Oooh! I though you'd never ask!
Now, <beat> hold still.
ADAM mentions something inaudible under his breath as RYOUKO
grabs his hand takes off the bandages. To her surprise, it's glowing.
ADAM
Wow! What are you doing?
RYOKO
<nervous> Umm � Nothing. I
don't know what's going on.
RYO-OHKI bursts into the room and runs screaming into RYOUKO's
hands.
RYOKO
<angry> Not now, Ryo-ohki.
RYO-OHKI
Myaa! MYAAA MYAA! Myaa!
RYOUKO looks up, looking angrier than before then runs out of the
house.
TENCHI
Ryouko! Wait, what's going
on?
The rest of the group runs out of the house. When they are all gone
MIHOSHI walks in from the kitchen with a handful of pastries.
MIHOSHI
Where is everybody?
Cut to the edge of the Lake, RYOUKO, TENCHI, AEKA, ADAM, and SASAMI are
standing around. RYO-OHKI is in SASAMI's arms, and everyone is looking at
RYOUKO.
TENCHI
What's going on, Ryouko?
RYOUKO looks around, darting her head in every direction before
looking straight up.
RYOUKO
<Scornfully> Katago.
A green ball of energy appears above RYOUKO and cracks open as KATAGO
floats out of it, the ball of energy sealing itself behind him and
dissapearing.
KATAGO
Well, Ryouko, good to know you
haven't forgotten about me. I, of
course, haven't forgotten <beat>
you.
RYOUKO
<loud; enraged> DIE!
RYOUKO flies up at KATAGO at full speed and runs into a green tinted
force field that knocks her off to the side. KATAGO slowly floats
towards RYOUKO.
KATAGO
<calm; calculating> You are quite
an imperfection. You should know
by now you can't attack me like that.
Now, come quietly and I won't be
forced to harm you further.
As KATAGO approaches, TENCHI jumps in with the Tenchi-ken extended
and its blue blade pointed at KATAGO. ADAM rushes in behind and grabs
RYOUKO.
TENCHI
You'll not come any farther!
KATAGO
Ahh, so you are the one with the
Master Key. But I wouldn't go
waving that around boy, it's the
Kings property.
TENCHI
What king?
KATAGO
Foolish boy, you would attack me
with a sword without fully knowing
its properties. Give that to me!
KATAGO points his hand at TENCHI as a pulse of wind strikes him,
knocking him backwards. KATAGO reaches for the sword again with
a pulse of wind that TENCHI fights, allowing KATAGO to get within
inches of the sword before ADAM jumps in and knocks TENCHI and
the Tenchi-ken out of the way.
ADAM
<panting> I get the feeling that
this guy is bad.
KATAGO
You are even more foolish than
this boy. You're life means little
more to me than dust.
KATAGO shoots a green bolt of energy towards ADAM who holds up his
hands in defense. The green bolt smashes into his hands, knocking him a
few meters backwards onto the ground. His hand jumps with electricity as
the Gem in his palm glows serenely. KATAGO hovers closer to ADAM,
who is unconscious, and looks down at his hand.
KATAGO
Even more intriguing. You may
be of use to me yet. <beat> But
as to the Master Key --
As KATAGO turns around, TENCHI leaps up at him with the sword and
takes a long swing at him. KATAGO quickly hovers off to the side as
the blue streak of the sword flies past his face. As TENCHI lands, a
drop of green blood trickles down from KATAGO's cheek.
KATAGO
<growls> If you want to fight
me, boy, a fight is what you
will get!
KATAGO generates a sword, much like RYOUKO's, only green and
larger. He takes a swing at TENCHI that knocks him back, then
continues to swing at TENCHI, knocking him back farther towards the
lake. In a sweeping gesture, KATAGO knocks TENCHI into the lake,
knocking the Tenchi-ken away from him.
As KATAGO reaches for the sword, it flies away, over the tops of
everyone's head and into YOUSHO's hand, who is suddenly standing
behind the girls.
YOUSHO
Playing with toys that aren't
yours, eh?
KATAGO looks at YOUSHO with scorn, he then grins and looks to
RYOUKO. She holds her head for a moment then her eyes turn green.
KATAGO
<whispers> You remember what
it's like under my control, don't you?
<to Yousho; loud> Well, if it isn't
Yousho, the first crown prince of
Jurai! I finally have the pleasure
of meeting you for the first, and
by far, the last time.
Cut to AEKA's face, she gasps then looks at YOUSHO. Cut to a
younger looking YOUSHO, which fades into the present day YOUSHO.
YOUSHO
Big words from someone who is
such a coward.
KATAGO grits his teeth evilly then shoots off a green bolt of energy
at YOUSHO which slams against a translucent shield and dissapates.
Cut to a close-up of YOUSHO's face, he closes his eyes, then activates
the Tenchi-ken and opens his eyes. Panning backwards, YOUSHO
unleashes a series of skillful moves against KATAGO, who dodges them
masterfully. YOUSHO manages to get up close and is pointing his sword
at KATAGO's throat when RYOUKO begins firing at the two of them from
above. She plummets to the ground, continuing to fire at YOUSHO until
she actually hits the ground. She levitates upwards like a puppet and
activates her sword.
KATAGO is laughing maniacally.
YOUSHO
<yelling> Using a woman as
your shield, COWARD!
KATAGO
We'll see who the coward is,
<louder> attack!
RYOUKO rushes into YOUSHO with her sword extended. The sword hits
YOUSHO's shield and the two energies spark as they fight against each
other. YOUSHO leaps into the air as KATAGO tries to shoot him while he
is distracted.
YOUSHO
Ryouko! Wake up, don't let
him control you like this!
KATAGO
Nonsense, she can't wake from
the control I have on her.
KATAGO fires at YOUSHO again, who dodges and uses the movement
to make an upward slash at RYOUKO's arm. The force knocks her away
from him and she lands in the lake. KATAGO swings at YOUSHO again,
who dodges it and throws the sword into a nearby tree.
KATAGO
<calm> Giving up so quickly?
KATAGO goes to the sword and grabs it, as he does it pulsates with
electricity that flows though him with a vengeance. He is forced to let
go when the pain is unbearable. Katago floats beside it, panting.
KATAGO
So <beat> this boy is your� <beat>
successor?
KATAGO floats back into the air, levitating RYOUKO and ADAM with
him. The green ball of energy opens up behind him.
KATAGO
We're finished for this time, but if you
ever want to get these two back
you'll come to me on my ship, the
Souja. I'll be waiting for you, ahaaha!
The green ball of energy closes behind KATAGO and dissapears.
AEKA immediately runs at YOUSHO and knocks him down.
AEKA
You're YOSHO! You're my brother
Yousho, aren't you? Why didn't you
tell me? What did you have to hide?
YOUSHO
Calm down, calm down, don't scold
me for trying to protect you. <beat>
Aeka, if I had stayed on Jurai, there
would have been a conflict on who
would have the throne. You must
have known that I wasn't intending
on coming back, there was too much
prejudice on Jurai for me to bear.
I'm sorry Aeka, I didn't know you had
you heart so very set on me.
<falsetto> I've got an Idea, we can
get married now, what do ya think?
AEKA
<blushes; annoyed> Brother, please!
AEKA bumps into YOUSHO with her hip. He reels back in pain then
pulls her over to TENCHI, who has since returned from the lake.
YOUSHO
<normal voice> But Tenchi here is
at the right age, and he's a good
grandson.
Both TENCHI and AEKA blush this time. TENCHI turns away from AEKA
and YOUSHO and look into the lake. There is silence for a moment.
TENCHI
I have to go after them.
AEKA
You certanly do NOT have to go after
her. She is the cause of all our problems.
TENCHI
Just the same, I must go after both of
them. I can't play favors.
YOUSHO
Tenchi, take that sword over there. It is
your sword now, and you must use it to
protect these women. Do you accept
this responsibility?
TENCHI nods then runs over to the tree and starts to pull the
Tenchi-ken out off the tree. As he does, a field of energy surrounds
him and the sword and bonds with him.
YOUSHO
The sword has acknowledged Tenchi
as its new owner.
TENCHI returns with the sword and is surrounded by everyone,
even MIHOSHI who has found he way out of the house.
YOUSHO
So, will go to save those you care
for with a sword you cannot handle?
Even though, will you still go?
TENCHI nods.
TENCHI
Hai!
YOUSHO reaches into his robe and pulls out the missing third gem
and hands it to TENCHI.
YOUSHO
Take this gem, and give it to Ryouko.
She has been searching for it for a long
time.
TENCHI takes the gem and turns around to look at everyone else.
TENCHI
Lets go.
MIHOSHI
So, how do we get there without
a ship?
TENCHI looks puzzled for only a moment before RYO-OHKI starts
meowing and hops towards the lake.
TENCHI
Ryo-ohki, what is it?
MIHOSHI
Maybe she knows something.
TENCHI
Lets go!
TENCHI and MIHOSHI walk off. SASAMI starts to walk then turns back
to AEKA.
SASAMI
Aeka? <beat; cheerful> AEKA!
AEKA smiles and nods.
Cut to the gang standing at the very edge of the water, RYO-OHKI
is in the middle and growling at the lake.
SASAMI
What's going on?
Part's of AEKA's ship raise up from the water as RYO-OHKI leaps into
the air towards the ship. As she flies, she begins to bludge as her
fur turns a dark gray and expands erratically until it look like the
ship she was in the beginning.
SASAMI
<crying>Oh, NO! My little Ryo-ohki!
TENCHI
<nervous> Uh, I guess we could use
that as a ship.
Fade out to black, then fade in to the interior of the Souja. KATAGO
is looking into a globe that shows RYO-OHKI approaching the Souja.
KATAGO
Well, it looks like they decided to
come after you, Ryouko. Such
a waste of time a pitiful effort
for someone so obviously
defective.
Pan backwards to show two capsules to the left and right of KATAGO.
One of the capsules is shaped like an hourglass and is filled with a blue
sand and has RYOUKO in it keeping her from moving her lower body.
The other capsule is shaped normally and has an unconscious ADAM
lying inside of it.
RYOUKO
I am NOT your machine anymore,
I am a human being!
KATAGO
Yes, and in the scheme of things
human emotions are worth a little
more than dust. <beat> You know,
your current form was chosen only
because it was convenient. The
initial form could have been anything
I chose. I could have made you a
rock, <beat> would you like to be a
rock?
RYOUKO gasps, KATAGO laughs maniacally.
KATAGO
Now, lets give our guests the
welcoming they deserve!
RYOUKO
You harm a hair on Tenchi and
you will pay. <pan back> Do you
hear me? YOU WILL PAY!!
Cut to interior of RYO-OHKI, on the viewscreen, Souja is powering
up her weapons.
AEKA (V.O.)
The Souja is ready to fire,
Pan backwards to show AEKA, MIHOSHI, and TENCHI standing around
each other. MIHOSHI is at the controls and AEKA and TENCHI are standing
beside her.
AEKA
<stressful> Please, try to
avoid it.
MIHOSHI
Well, I would, really. But I don't
really know what I am doing.
Cut to exterior of ship, the Souja fires off its first rounds that impact
on the hull of RYO-OHKI. She screams in pain but remains still. Cut
to interior of the ship; MIHOSHI, AEKA and TENCHI fall to the deck
and slide across the ship. AEKA stumbles back up to the controls.
AEKA
Ryo-ohki! I order you to fire!
Another round of shots strike RYO-OHKI.
AEKA
Oh.. I can't control this ship.
Cut to interior of the Souja; KATAGO is looking down into the globe
showing the damage that RYO-OHKI is taking. Pan over KATAGO's
left shoulder to show ADAM waking up inside the capsule and looking
around.
ADAM
<soft; in pain> Oh, wow, did
that hurt like nothing else�
<beat> Hey, what happened.
KATAGO
Well now, if it isn't the gem
wielding boy, I trust you've
enjoyed your rest, I know I
have.
ADAM
What's going on here? Why am I
being held captive? Where is everyone
else?
KATAGO
You are a guest on my space ship
the Souja, it really is a modest ship
when you look at it.
ADAM
Cut the crap, why are you doing
this?
KATAGO
I merely came here to retrieve my
possessions. It was truly unfortunate
that you happened to be in the way
of my obtaining the gems. But of
course, I'm always intrigued by a
mystery, for instance, could you
tell me how you managed to get
that gem in your hand like that.
All my research says that is its
impossible to meld the gems with
normal humans <beat> unless you
aren't a normal human.
ADAM
<softer> No one here could be considered
normal, this place is worse than the
Twilight Zone. <lounder> Anyway, I'm
as real and as human as you'll ever
find!
KATAGO
We shall see how normal you are,
specimen.
Cut to interior of RYO-OHKI, AEKA is sitting at the controls and
TENCHI is standing behind her.
TENCHI
Aeka, can we attack from your ship?
AEKA
<uneasy> I'm not sure how much of
my ship has been reformed. It may
be possible <beat> I will go.
TENCHI puts a hand on AEKA and keeps her in her chair.
TENCHI
No Aeka, you can't. I will go.
TENCHI pulls out the third gem from his pocket, he holds
it out to AEKA.
TENCHI
Keep this, and give it to Ryouko if
you get to see her before me.
AEKA
<soft> Tenchi.. <beat, worried>
Lord Tenchi!!
TENCHI has already left the screen. Cut to the bridge of RYO-OH;
TENCHI appears in a sparkle of electricity. He steps forward
and looks up at the screen.
TENCHI
Okay, Aeka. I'm ready.
AEKA's picture appears on the screen.
AEKA
First you must activate the Wings
of the Light Hawk.
TENCHI
Wings of the Light Hawk?
AEKA
The Light Hawk Wings are the primary
defense of the ship. It can be used
to attack but <beat> It wasn't
designed to do so, please be careful.
TENCHI
<nods> I will.
An explosion wracks the ship and the image on the screen disturbs
a little.
TENCHI
<yelling> Just tell me how to
use them!
Cut to exterior of RYO-OHKI; the Light Hawk Wings appear and shield
the RYO-OHKI from incoming fire. Cut to the interior of the Souja,
RYOUKO is shaking her head violently as ADAM slams his body against
the glass of the capsule.
KATAGO
Ahhh, the Light Hawk Wings,
well, I have a suitable response
to that.
Cut to the Exterior of the Souja as it charges all its energy into one
shot. Pan across to RYO-OHKI as the Light Hawk Wings merge into
a big disc then funnel towards the ship.
Cut to interior of RYO-OH, TENCHI has his hands around a floating
TENCHIKEN. He struggles as he moves them closer and across the
TENCHIKEN. In the distance, the energy buildup can be heard.
TENCHI
<straining> Yaaaaaa!
Cut to exterior of RYO-OHKI, a white ball of energy shoots out from the
center of the funnel and flies towards the Souja. Cut across to the Souja,
it fires its shot and we follow it as it impacts with TENCHI's shot and
explodes with a big burst of light.
Cut across everyone's face then to TENCHI's as he looses his concentration
and yells. Cut to the explosion, it suddenly disappears and the green
ball of energy from the Souja continues on its course, striking RYO-OH
and destroying it.
Cut to interior of RYO-OHKI; on the view screen, a bunch of images
from the wreckage is being displayed.
AEKA
Tenchi? <beat; worried> Tenchi?
<beat> Tenchi?! TENCHI?!
TENCHI?!! <beat> AAAHHHHH!
Cut to interior of the Souja, KATAGO is closest, over his left is the
capsule with ADAM in it, who has suddenly stopped moving, over
his right is the capsule with RYOUKO, who is agast.
RYOUKO
<very loud> YAAAHHHH!
The bluish sand funnels to the top of the hourglass and the glass
shatters as RYOUKO teleports away. KATAGO looks surprised,
then smiles evilly.
Cut to the exterior of the Souja, RYOUKO appears and flies towards
the wreckage of RYO-OH. She moves about the wreckage quickly
while searching.
RYOUKO
Tenchi? Tenchi where are you?
Tenchi--
Cut to the bandana TENCHI was wearing, which is soaked with red
blood. We see RYOUKO's shaking hand grab it then pull it close to
her. She cries, loud and openly, into the bandana. When she
manages to get a hold of herself she turns to the Souja.
RYOUKO
Katago, <swallows; deepens voice>
Katago, you have taken from me all
that was dear. You will not escape
this act; by my soul I will make you
pay. <beat> YOU WILL PAAAAYYYY!!!!
Fade to black.
Authors Notes:
Okay, first of all, this package deal is part of a celebration of the new
season of fanfics by me. It's been a year now since I first published 'The
Adventures of Darien' and I've loved every moment since. I can also safely
say that my writing skills have vastly improved since this event. The
short, not so elegant style of AoD has been replaced with the detail rich
novella format of The Heroes We Love, or the powerful dialog of Full
Circle. Just thought you'd like to know.
Anyway, there are a few differences between the Adam Leigh portrayed here
and the actual me. First of all, the actual me only DREAMS of getting
whisked away by Pluto and sent to Japan, it doesn't actually happen. Also,
I still live in New Jersey while my counterpart lives in NYC. I USED to
live in NYC, I hope to return someday, but right now I can't. This Adam is
also several years older than me.
As I just said, the voice that takes Adam away is indeed Sailor Pluto.
The Pluto/Adam relationship will be developed next episode, as well as the
Tsunami/Tenchi relationship that actually DOES occur in the OAV'S. If you
noticed what happened up to this point, the usage of the TV first episode
was so I could remove the totally ridiculous OAV ep 4 which deals with the
hot springs and how stupid Mihoshi is.
It is important to realize something here. While I have always used
YOUSHO for the name of Tenchi's Grandfather, only you and I know it is his
name. Tenchi and the rest of the cast did not know until episode 4 when he
tells them. I find that this is easily overlooked and I'm sorry if it's
confusing.
Expect more TV merging into the OAV's� as soon as I get around to buying
more of the TV Tenchi tapes. Anyway, expect Episode or part 5 soon. I'm
working on it now!
