This is irregular, I know. What can I say? I am always
doing stuff bass-ackwards. :)

Macho Caballo is a quiet, simple story about a lad named
Ramon (nicknamed `Macho').

In Macho Caballo, I am trying for `anime look-and-feel', as
opposed to doing something creative with the cast or story
of a real anime. This series is already being posted to
R.A.A.C. However, I have only recently discovered the FFML,
and I would really like to get some feedback from some of
the folks here. So I am posting the first chapters, more
to come.
Thank you in advance for your comments,

The introduction: -------------------------------------

Some time back, I read a message on the
alt.arts.anime.fandom newsgroup where one guy criticised
another for excessive use of the Spanish language in his
submission.

Though I am deficient in Spanish, this message ticked me off
- it seemed unmannerly, brusque, and small-minded. So, in a
fit of righteous indignation, I grabbed my high-school
Spanish textbook and committed an even greater breach of
manners. I set out to write:

             `LAS AVENTURAS DE MACHO CABALLO'

_______________

CABALLO - `horse'.

MACHO - Rhymes with `nacho'. Means `manly', `virile',
            `tough', or even `unruly'.

DE - `of'

AVENTURAS - `adventures'.

LAS - sort of like `the'.
            `Las' is a feminine article because `aventuras'
is a feminine noun. Not that it means it is a
            story about girls. (Well... maybe!)
 _______________

Macho Caballo... a story of crossdressing in the old
west!

Inspired by the work of Takahashi Rumiko, long may she
wave... any resemblance between these characters and her
people of Ranma 1/2 is purely intentional. There have been
many fan-fictions written about Ranma and his troubles, so I
thought I would do something slightly different about
someone from another continent.

In the first tale, Macho confronts the villian Sinestro, a
black-hearted scoundrel attempting to gain power and wealth
in old Mexico.

Unfortunately, Macho has a treacherous weakness, unknown to
any except his family and a few close friends... when doused
with hot (or warm) water, he turns into a cute girl. Cold
water turns him back to a normal boy. Heh. Try to find
cold water in the Mexican desert.

These are his adventures.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you...
