It's what I use all the time.

It is also a standard option with plain ol' basic Word 6.0

I just got a word file which I cannot read..as I do not have Word.
the Win3.1 notepad, Eccopad or MS Works 3.0 for dos. the convesion utils
for works are no help.
 Any suggestions???
Aside from getting Word I mean.

I've also noticed a good deal of the things I download go nuts if loaded
directly into windows or Word
 1. they are all crushed up into aout 7 or 8 lines of text that are
generally unformated with control codes (black and clear boxes etc)
 or
 2. similair to above with 1 difference... This is AFTER I've applied the
treatment below... there is still a large (anywhere from 2 to 70
character) text over-run.

...I find that simply putting them in dos edit (exe) (ver .9019) (as
opposed to edit.com) works to "straighten them out" and then I simply save
it.
Telemate's edit function also works like this and also has a reformat
option (of which you have to do it line by line but can simply hold down
the key (F9) to do it.) which gets rid of some strange form of text
over-run but I have no way (as far as I can tell) of setting the collum
length so it actually gets formatted in a narrower way (say 60 vrs 70 or
80)
Actually, most of the stuff which I end up posting (of any size) I've
done or at least checked out on this before uploading and sending.
any explanation why

anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it...

                            Any help would e wonderful.
