My first reaction to the thearapist in this story was, "fresh meat!"
This is the kind of mental health "expert" that you want to have on the
inside, where all you want is someone to manipulate and tell them
everything they wanna hear so you can be released, and the sort you
DON'T want to have on the outside, where you actually want REAL help.

Then the guy started pounding on the egg shell, and I felt like picking
the man up and defenestrating him. We have psychosis and mental
instability for a reason, to protect the frail matter that holds our
psyche together. Getting to a patentient by attacking the protective
shell, the one he wove for himself, will get the same results smashing
ANY egg will. It's messy, hard to clean up and the smell lingers for
days.

Good psychology is all about boiling that egg, giving the mind
something to stand on, something solid to grasp so the mind can take
care of itself without that shell. THEN you go about with the cracking
of the false defences that had built up. THAT'S when I realized that
this was just a NERV facility. That those inside didn't care about the
patients, just there effect on the war. That's when this story became
dark.

Anyway, that's just the thoughts from the OTHER side of the spectrum.
You see, I like Crazy Jack also have a unique perspective on this, I was
a pateint. Good story by the way, why don't you have Gendo do the actual
dirty deed, real nice pathos here with Shinji smiling and reaching out
to his father and his father simply smiling and inserting the needle. Or
maybe you could take this the other route and have a curious Gendo
confronted with a clean slate so to speak. Maybe something to shatter
that egg shell he keeps HIS heart in.

	Keep up the good work!

(And the Moon was as blood, the Storms crashed and the Seas BOILED!)
