Part of C&C is considering overall impression, plot development,
appropriateness of story line and character behavior, and looking for
cognitive dissonance. Suposedly, that type of analysis is one of the
primary reasons for stories to be submitted to the FFML. The FFML is not
needed if correcting spelling and grammar mistakes are the sum total of
C&C. The original plot or storyline is not one of the ten commandments, an
eternal expression of divine will. Nor should it be. There are stories
that had the basic story line changed as a result of comments received, not
because the author felt "pressured", but because the critique enabled the
author to examine the story as a reader and not only as the author, a very
different perspective. Also, sometimes the readers' suggestions simply
struck the author as a better approach. Mike can write whatever he likes,
but whatever he or any author submits to the FFML is open to any reasonable
(and some unreasonable) C&C.
