Ok, I built up enough courage to post the very first fanfic I have
written.  Yes it is bad, bad enough
for me to add a forewarning.  I have not taken much time revising it
because I'd like to know if I
should spend the time to save it or just let it die.  I took ideas from
the fanfic "Lessons in Love" as well as a few others.  So now if you
have the courage to read it, tell me what you think, I expect lots of
criticism with little compliments so feel free to tell me what I should
do with it :)

Author's forewarning:

This is my first fanfic, I'm not an English major, and my knowlege of
the Ranma world is limited to videos released by Viz Video.  What does
this mean?  That's for you to decide.  The original story line by
Takahashi
may be altered in some way, but I hope I've covered it well.  Also, the
writing style at first is admittingly quite annoying, but gradually
changes as
the story progresses.  Don't mind all the clich�s either, I tried to
make it as believable as possible and some lines ju  st work.  If you
can
get through the first two parts, you can probably get through the rest.
So if you get discouraged by the first few scenes, keep this in mind.

Prenotes:  So why is it that Ranma is always paired with Akane and Ukyou

is always being left out, killed off, or just being shafted in general?
Being an adamant Ukyou fan, I really do not appreciate this.  Its time
Ukyou gets her chance with Ranma.  All the reasons are right there for
Ranma to choose her, so why not?

THE WEIGHT OF HONOR

PART 1<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<,

Furinkan High:  a normal sunny day in late spring, a little after the
final bell rings, Ranma comes
running out of the front door closely followed by Akane, obviously
furious at Ranma for something
he said earlier.

Akane     RANMA!! How dare you!!!!

Ranma     ha ha ha...

Besides this normal afterschool argument, another fight is beginning at
the school gate and is growing
more audible.

Shampoo    You can not have Ranma!  Ranma all mine!

Ukyou         All yours sugar?  Well I'd beg to differ.

Shampoo     Ranma no like girl who act like boy all time.

Ukyou         How...how dare you!!!

The argument expands into a full pledged fist fight with a few insults
thrown in for good measure.

Ranma         Now what's going on.  (He suddenly stops his full sprint,
forgetting who was after him
closely on his heels and begins to watch the fight before him in
curiosity.  Akane then proceeds to
plant her right fist in Ranma's face.)

Ranma     You didn't have to hit me that hard you know... (A large
bruise is beginning to form on
the  side of his face.)

Akane     Humph.....serves you right.

Just then, Shampoo and Ukyou both notice Ranma and stop their fighting
instantly and begin to run
at Ranma.

Shampoo     Ranma!  You come and see Shampoo!  (Shampoo jumps on Ranma,
throwing her
arms around him.)

Ukyou     How dare you...you hussy!

Akane     Well it looks like you have plenty of others to help you
recover.  Goodbye!  (Akane
leaves leaves out the gate toward home.)

Shampoo     Now only stupid spatula girl leave and Ranma all alone with
Shampoo.

Ukyou     I...I can't believe you!!

Shampoo     See, Ranma no like girl that act like boy.

Ukyou     (Blushing a deep red now, partly from the embarrassment,
partly from her anger, but both
because of what Shampoo just said.)  Why you... (Ukyou's battle aura is
beginning to  glow a faint
blue and becoming brighter by the second.)

Ranma     Whoa...  (Ranma puts Shampoo back on the ground and gets
between the two girls so no
more harm can be done.)  Alright you two, can't you just stop fighting
for a sec?

Ukyou     (Ignoring Ranma)  I'm not going to let away with saying
something like that!

Ranma     Now hold on Ukyou, not let her get away with saying what?

Ukyou     (angrily)  For saying I act like a boy like I actually enjoy
acting like one.

Ranma     (obliviously)  Well, don't you?  I mean why do you always
dress up like a boy?

Ukyou     (suddenly turning against Ranma)  Don't act like you don't
know.  How much more of this
am I supposed to take?

Ranma     (still opening his mouth when he shouldn't)  Well...hmmm....I
give up.  Why?

Ukyou     Its because of YOU!!!  (The echo from Ukyou's slap can be
heard throughout the
schoolyard.)  Because you ran off without me ten years ago, you
dishonored me and my  life as a
woman was over.  Now I can't return to my family and live like a woman
until...until..  (She
starts to cry.)  Until you marry me...  (Just then, she notices half
the  school body is watching this
scene.  Ukyou starts turning beet red.)  You jackass!  Now  you've
embarrassed me in front of  the
whole school you insensitive jerk!  (Ukyou starts  running off toward
her restaurant.)

Ranma     Ukyou....

Shampoo     Now no more violent women, now only Shampoo with Ranma.

Ranma     Oh come on Shampoo, go home, I don't have time for this.

The Tendo household.  Ranma is coming home and is greeted by Kasumi.

Kasumi     Why hello Ranma, oh my (looking at the bruise Akane gave to
him and the matching red
mark in the shape of Ukyou's hand.)  Something happen at school today?

Ranma      More or less.  (Ranma enters into the livingroom where he
meets Akane coming down
the  stairs.)

Akane     Well it appears Ukyou and Shampoo finally figured out how much
of a pervert you are...
Well whatever you did, you probably deserve it.

Nabiki enters the room after Ranma.

Nabiki     Poor Ranma.  Are you still sulking about being slapped by
Ukyou.  You are so pathetic
sometimes...But I hand it to you.  You really made her mad this time.

Akane     Ukyou did this to you huh?  That's not like her to be hitting
you.  What did you do to her?
Sounds like you really screwed up though.

Ranma     Whatever, I gotta go lay down, I'm having a bad day.

Once Ranma gets into his room, he collapses onto his stomach on the
futon and starts thinking about
the incident earlier at school.

Ranma     Now I'm really in trouble.  (A long pause and suddenly Ranma
rolls over.)  I was just a
kid then, how was I supposed to know?  (Another pause)  Its all pop's
fault, if he never put me in
that situation, none of this would have ever happened...

His thoughts come to an end when there is a knock at the door.  He gets
up and opens the door to
find Kasumi on the other side.

Kasumi     I'm going to get my check-up from Dr. Tofu.  I'll be back
just after supper.

Ranma suddenly has a backflash from this morning:

    Kasumi     I have an appointment with Dr. Tofu this afternoon so
dinner will be a little late tonight.

    Akane     Don't worry Kasumi, I'll make dinner tonight.  Besides, I
have a good idea for
a recipe I want to try...

Ranma     (gags)  Oh I forgot...its Akane's toxic suprise tonight...

Kasumi     Now don't worry, she's been working really hard at her
cooking and she seemed so
excited about her recipe.  Try not to hurt her feelings, ok?  (Kasumi
turns around and starts to
leave.)

Nabiki passes by and notices Ranma's door open so she decides to pay him
a visit.

Nabiki     You don't have to worry about Akane being mad at you for that
little thing that happened
today, I explained things to her.

Ranma     Thanks Nabiki.  (pause)  Errrr....how much is it this time?

Nabiki     2000 yen should cover for this one after a few private taxes
and so forth.

Ranma take the money out of his pocket and hands it over in disgust.

Nabiki     Well I'm off, I'm not staying around here to eat tonight.  If
you want to come along, I
wouldn't mind...

Ranma     You mean you're gonna let me get out of this meal tonight?
Thanks Nabiki

Nabiki     (clears her throat)  As I was saying, I wouldn't mind if you
planned to pay for my services
which includes the meal, plus say...1000 yen an hour...

Ranma     But Nabiki, I just gave you all my money...

Nabiki     Well then it appears I can't help you.  I hope you survive
through the night...ta ta!  (She
leaves)

Ranma     Thinking:  "Ok that leaves me with two options, a) go to
Ucchan's and see if she's really
over it and die because I won't eat Akane's food or b) die from eating
her cooking..."  Oh this is
REALLY a bad day...

A port on mainland China.  Ryoga is coming off a boat.

Ryoga     Thinking:  "Akane, soon I'll be worthy of you.  After my
training here in Okinowa, I will
finally be able to defeat Ranma and then we can be together.  I saved as
much as I could just for this
voyage so we can be happy together."

Crewman     Welcome to mainland China, enjoy your stay.

Ryoga     But I was headed east to Okinowa, not China...

Crewman     Then why did you get on this boat?  And besides you ignorant
fool Okinowa is
SOUTH of Japan, not east.

Ryoga     oh...well I guess I'll train here...I can't afford another
ticket...

The Tendo house, Genma, Soun, and Ranma are sitting around the table
quite apprehensive about
this meal.

Akane     (coming out of the kitchen with a platter)  Well it didn't
quite turn out like I expected it to,
but I hope its alright anyways... (she places the platter at the center
of the table and a greyish blue
form can be seen on the dish)

Genma sees this and pours a glass of water over his head.  In panda
form, he holds up a sign:
"We're out of hot water, I guess I'll have to eat bamboo tonight"

Soun     Oh no, look at the time, I...I...I have a town council meeting
tonight, I'm late...ya, that's
right.  (He gets up and runs out the door, forgetting to put on his
shoes once he is out the door.)

Akane     I KNOW you don't have anything to do tonight Ranma, so you're
gonna eat it or else!

Ranma sits there for a while staring at his plate, trying to gain enough
courage to ingest the foul
smelling dish.

Akane     Well?  Are you gonna eat it or not?

Ranma     But Akane, your food is toxic, I might die...

Akane     You're gonna die if you don't at least try it!  (She stands
over him with a large hammer
ready to make him apart of the floor. Ranma sees there is no escape and
picks up his fork and puts
some in his mouth, shaking the whole time.  After swallowing the
concoction, Ranma's head starts to
spin and he starts to gag.)

Ranma     Oh man!  If flies and cockroaches ate this, they'd die for
sure!

Akane     (As she lowers a hammer on Ranma's head)  RANMA!  REST IN
PEACE!!!!!

Ranma gathers what strength he can after that bite of Akane's cooking
and her blow and stumbles
out the door and into the street.

Ucchan's Okinomiaki:  Ranma is staggering in front of the door,
obviously not in good shape.

Ukyou     Ranma!  (Seeing Ranma outside, she runs outside to get him.)
Oh, what happened to
you?  (Ranma is green by now from the effects of Akane's cooking and has
a very large bump on his
head for insulting her cooking.)

Ranma     Tomboy...<gasp>...made me eat her cooking...<hack>...almost
killed me...<cough>...

Ukyou Come inside, you need to rest.  (She takes him upstairs to her
bedroom and lies him on her
bed.  She leaves and comes back with a wet towel and puts it on Ranma's
head.)  Ranma, you
know what Akane's food does to you.  (In a more cheery voice)  Just rest
here a little, come down
when you're feeling better.

Ranma     Thinking:  "Why is she being so nice to me?  After this
afternoon...I guess she's not mad
anymore..."

An hour later, Ranma comes down with a more natural facial color and a
little more composure.
The restaurant is just about to close so the last couple of customers
exit after paying their tab.
Tonight is the night Ukyou always closes early to catch up on tasks that
have been put off due to her
busy schedule.

Ukyou     Ranma, feeling better?

Ranma     Uh...ya.  Sorry about that.  (Thinking about his entrance an
hour earlier.)

Ukyou     You must be starving, here.  (She quickly whips up some
okinomiaki and lays the plate in
front of the grill.)

Ranma     Thinking:  This is strange, I was certain she was mad at me...

Ukyou     Well?  Don't worry, its on me, you know I couldn't charge
you.  And besides, I'm sure
you didn't eat all of Akane's cooking...

Ranma     Oh...ya...thanks.  Thinking:  "This is wierd."  Out loud:
About what happened after
school...

Ukyou     (Blushing slightly)  I didn't hurt you, did I?  I guess I was
sort of out of control then...

Ranma     Thinking:  "I'm glad she dosen't hold a grudge like another
fianc�e I know..."

Ranma     (Sitting at the grill)  Thanks, I though I was going to starve
tonight.  About what you said
this afternoon, were you serious about your honor and all that?

Ukyou     (A little more red and annoyed)  Of course I was serious, what
do you take me for?

Ranma     Its all pop's fault.  I always have to pay for the mistakes he
makes, with all my fianc�es
and all.

Ukyou     When were you first engaged to Akane anyways?

Ranma     As far as I knew, since we first came here to Nerima, but I
don't know exactly when they
decided.

Ukyou     That means I might actually be your first fianc�e then?

Ranma     I doubt it.  (Thinking about that whole Anything-goes ramen
take out race ordeal.)  But
thinking about it, you just might be of the three that are here...

Ukyou     Thinking:  "Then that actually means I do have a chance..."

Ranma     Thinking:  "Now only if Akane was this understanding...oh
man...I'm probably gonna have
to explain this visit to her..."
