Hey, I remember watching this movie on Comedy Central before the channel
went down the tubes in programming. John Goodman was really good in
that...and you got to here him sing too :-)
Now onto your fanfic. It seems to me that you're only sticking the Ranma
characters in the parts of the movie and that somewhat makes it
uninteresting, especially for those who haven't seen the movie. The movie
itself was good because of the strange and eccentric characters and the way
David Byrne presented them. Having Ranma in his role is not only terribly
OOC (which on occasion I don't mind if it shows growth), but people would
expect him to be part of the action instead of viewing Nerima from an
outsider's POV. Even setting it in Texas is taking away from the story
because to me it seems you're trying to force the Ranma characters into the
movie (For instance, the way Ukyo is portrayed here feels like it isn't her
at all, despite the way she talks.)
If this story could be written, I would move it back to Japan and actually
have David Byrne back in his role as an outsider. It would give an
interesting view of Nerima through his eyes. Other than that, I don't know.
