If you wanted to observe the
_usual_ spam content of the list, you'd have to take your sample from
about a week ago, before this thread started. And you can easily do
that by checking the archives, I'm pretty sure.

Okay, as a sort of scientific experiment, I went into the archive and
arbitrarily selected a recent sequence of 100 posts, archive numbers
35600-35699. (The Population Control thread started at 36128.)

The result?

6 fic posts (2 of which were duplicates of each other, and 2 of which
	were tagged as spamfics);
22 posts in C&C threads (some of which may have degenerated into spam,
	as they often do; I only looked at the subject headers);
72 spam posts.

But is this a representative sample, you ask? I looked at the next
hundred posts (35700-35799):

10 fic posts (2 were reposts)
8 posts in C&C threads
82 spam posts.

Is there anyone who'll deny that the ratio of C&C to Spam is way, WAY
too low here?

People, please take SOME of the time and energy you are using to
generate Spam and put it to work writing fics, or helping other people
by giving them C&C on their fics. Don't get me wrong, I have NOTHING
against Spam being on the list **as long as it is balanced by C&C and
discussion of fics.**

Think about it, won't you?
