Casale-san...with all due respect...it seems to me that your idea for
splitting the FFML is, to put it bluntly, selfish and self-serving.

You want to split the list up because *you* don't like sifting
through a lot of spam mail, and *you* feel like there's not enough
chance to form close friendships here.

Well, I like to think, especially since my presense was remembered by a
coupla people from when I was subbed way back when, that friendships can
be formed.

It seems to me that you are either not thinking of, or ignoring, some
important details.

Namely...

1) A split FFML would not benefit everyone; in fact, it would make
things a LOT more chaotic than they already are.

If it was split, most people here would be subbed to all the lists, so
would be generally pointless.

2) The split FFML would limit the number of fanfics people would
actually get a chance to read, not to mention limit the number of
readers every writer would get for the fanfics they post.

3) Consider this: White Wolf just upgraded his machine so it could
handle the load of the FFML. Do you honestly think he'd be willing to
try to set up FIVE mailing lists on the fanfic.com server? I know I
wouldn't.

Shoot, I am just glad that WW is allowing us this medium to exchange
stories and ideas.  I would hate to lose it.

Bottom Line: As I believe someone else suggested, if you don't like
the high volume of FFML, start your own fanfiction mailing list.

The FFML is just fine like it is. Please stop pressing this issue.
