Hi!

This is part two of my Ranma/X-Factor crossover. This part isn't very
exciting but bear with me, it'll get better. C&C is always welcome.

ThanX!

1/2 Factor part 2
by Sariah DeGidio
A S.P.A.M. production

Jamie came out of the bath room and looked around. Not seeing any
one, he started down the hall and turned a corner almost bumping into a
girl with short brown hair. She looked older than Akane but younger
than Kasumi.
"You must be Jamie," she said while eyeing him appraisingly.
"Kasumi sent me to tell you that dinner is almost ready. And, she had
Akane wash your clothes and hang them up to dry."
     "Okay. Um...uh...who are you?"
"I'm Nabiki, Akane's older sister." Then, as she walked off,
"Don't be late for dinner."
Jamie stood there for a moment and then followed Nabiki. He ended
up in a living room where Nabiki sat watching T.V. and a middle aged
man and a _panda_ sat playing Go. No one looked up at him.
"Hello," he said. They continued to ignore him. Just as Jamie
was about to talk again, Ranma-chan walked in. Jamie looked at her and
asked the obvious question, "What happened?"
Ranma looked down at herself and said, "Oh this...Akane got me
with the wash water."
     "Got you with the water?"
"She got mad so she threw it at me. Don't worry, your clothes
were out when she did it," answered Ranma. "That fabric felt real
weird, and it zapped Akane."
"Yeah, it feels weird at first. It's unstable molecules fabric.
It shouldn't have zapped Akane though. I wear it because when I
duplicate, the clothes duplicated too." Then smiling," if they didn't,
it could be quite embarrassing."
Ranma smiled back saying, "I can imagine. Make sure you don't get
hit tonight, you're not wearing the right clothes for it."
"But they're the right clothes for you to get hit in, huh?"
Ranma looked at Jamie for a minute and then laughed. "I guess
they are. Come on, I need to get some hot water and Kasumi is about to
call dinner."
Just as he said that, the call to dinner came from a voice almost
too sweet to be true, at least to Jamie's ears. He got a goofy,
schoolboy grin on his face and began to follow Ranma to
the table. Ranma pointed to where he should sit and ran off for the
hot water. When he came back Jamie sat on one side of him with Akane
on the other. The middle aged man sat at the head. Kasumi sat across
form Jamie dishing up rice with Nabiki seated beside her. And, the
_panda!_ yes, the panda, sat at the end opposite the head.
     "Um, Ranma?"
     "Yeah?"
"Why is there a panda at the table?"
     "Huh? Oh...that's my dad."
     "Your dad?"
"Yeah. Remember I told you about worse curses?" Jamie nodded.
"Well my dad turns into a panda. He actually prefers to be that way
most of the time."
"Uh huh..." Jamie responded absently. About halfway through
Ranma's explanation, he had been distracted by the bowl of rice Kasumi
was giving him. More accurately, by Kasumi herself. "Thank you."
"You're welcome Jamie," responded the angel across from him.
"Please help yourself to the rest to the dishes."
"O...okay." Jamie was not particularly articulate around
beautiful women.
Jamie served himself and began to eat. He was glad Guido liked
Oriental food and had made him learn to eat with chopsticks. The food
was very delicious, though it did not seem fancy. As he ate, he
watched the others. Ranma and his father seemed to be having a
competition for who could eat the most food in the least time. Akane,
Nabiki, and Kasumi ate at a calmer rate, with Kasumi stopping
occasionally to refill a bowl of rice. The middle aged man, who Jamie
guessed was the girls father, ate slowly, as if savoring every bite.
After everyone was settled into the meal, he began speaking.
"So Akane, Ranma, who is your friend?"
"His name is Jamie, Dad. I found him in the road today. He has
the same curse and Ranma."
"Is this true young man?" asked Akane's father.
"Yeah...I guess so Mr. " Gah! What's their surname? Ten...
Tendo? "Tendo."
"Will you be staying with us long?" was the next question.
"Um... I hadn't really thought about it...well, as soon as I can
contact some friend back home, I can get transport back. Maybe a day
or two, if that's all right with you."
"That will be fine. Akane, Ranma, don't you have homework to
finish after dinner?"
"Yeah, Dad. We'll get it done," answered Akane. Ranma just
grunted.
Slowly, everyone finished eating and drifted away from the table.
Akane and Ranma went upstairs to finish homework, Nabiki started
watching T.V. and Mr. Saotome and Mr. Tendo began playing Go again.
Jamie sat there wondering what he should do when Kasumi
began clearing the table.
     "May I help you, Kasumi?"
"Oh! I couldn't have a guest help with the dishes."
"But I have to help you, it would be rude not to. I was raised to
help a host clean up."
"If you put it that way, okay. Please collect the dishes and
follow me to the kitchen."
Jamie followed her 'orders' happily, simply enjoying the extended
time in her presence.
"Just set them by the sink while I store the left-overs."
"Okay," Jamie said as he set the dishes down. "Do you think it
will be okay if I make a telephone call soon? It'll be collect."
"There shouldn't be a problem. Where will you be calling?"
     "Washington D.C."
     "Is that where you live?"
"Yeah. I work for the government there."
"What do you do? The clothes you were wearing seemed to be a
uniform of some sort."
"Did Ranma tell you that I'm a mutant?" Kasumi nodded. "I am
part of a special team called X-Factor. Basically, we fight bad guys
in the name of the U.S. government."
"That's better than in the name of the moon," said Kasumi smiling
prettily. Jamie gave her a confused look but she just smiled bigger.
About that time she finished with the left overs and started
running the dish water. While it was running, she put a dish towel on
the counter next to the sink.
"You don't have to help anymore. I can finish the rest."
"Yes I do have to help. The clean up is not done."
"Alright. You wash. I'll dry and put away."
     "Okay."
As Jamie began to wash the dishes, he thought, 'Wow. This is
probably the first time I've done housework with only one of me. I
like Kasumi. I wish I didn't have to leave so soon. I'd like to get
to know her better.'
They finished the dishes in silence. When they were done, Kasumi
broke the quiet and announced, "You will be staying in Ranma and his
father's room while you are here. I had Ranma set up an extra futon
for you. It is the first room on the right after you go up the
stairs."
Jamie nodded and said, "Thank you Kasumi for being so kind to me
even though I'm a stranger. You and your family have made me feel at
home after this awkward situation."
"Your welcome. Thank you, Jamie, for being the first person to
help me do the dishes since my mother died," answered Kasumi, turning
back to her drying.

Meanwhile, back at X-Factor's Georgetown townhouse, shortly before
the team arrived home, a mouse was scurrying along the roof. It paused
when it came to a rather interesting (to it) looking wire. It followed
its first impulse and began to knaw. It got through the plastic and
bit deeply into the metal. This caused the mouse to be shocked.
Fortunately (for the mouse) it did not die. Unfortunately, the wire
was now disconnected.

Jamie entered the living room of the Tendo home to see (guess
what?) Mr. Saotome and Mr. Tendo playing Go. 'Have they even moved?'
he thought. Them he said, "Mr. Tendo, is it all right if I make a
telephone call. It will be collect."
"Hmmm...that's fine young man...hmmm...just fine," he answered,
his eyes never leaving the board.
Jamie walked to the hall, where he had seen the phone earlier. He
dialed the operator and asked for a collect call to be placed to the
townhouse in Georgetown. They receive a 'phone not in service signal.'
So, they tried Guido's line. No luck. One after another Alex's,
Lorna's, Rhane's, and even Val's lines were tried. All gave
out-of-service messages. Disappointed, Jamie hung up the phone.
'Wonder what happened to the phone lines. Maybe they'll be up
tomorrow.'
Shrugging, Jamie went upstairs and followed Kasumi's directions to
the Ranma's room. It turned out to be the room he woke up in. He slid
open the door to find Ranma sitting on a futon glaring daggers at an
open tex
tbook while he held an open notebook in his lap.
     "What'cha studying?" Jamie asked.
     "Grrr...chemistry," said Ranma grumpily.
"Why are you so angry? Chemistry's not that bad."
"It is when you have a test tomorrow, you don't understand the
chapter, and you're hovering on failing."
"Well, do you and Akane have the same course?"
"Yeah, we're in the same class," answered Ranma.
"Why don't you ask her for help?" Jamie suggested. Ranma looked
at Jamie as if he had suggested cutting off an arm. "What?! What'd I
say?"
"She wouldn't help me. She'd just call me a jerk and kick me out
the window."
"Oh come on. Akane seems like a nice girl. If you just go and
ask her nicely, I'm sure she'll help." Ranma gave Jamie another look.
"Okay...which is worse? Asking Akane for help or failing?"
Ranma scowled for a few moments, glared at Jamie, picked up his
book and notebook, and walked out of the room. Jamie heard Ranma walk
down the hall and knock on a door. He heard muffled voices and a door
open and close.
Jamie tried to smile but it was interrupted by a yawn. So, Jamie
lay down fully clothed in the extra futon and fell asleep.

In Washington D.C., Georgetown to be exact, the members of
X-Factor had just arrived home. Guido, Rhane, and Peitro went to their
respective quarters to change into normal clothes. Val, Alex, and
Lorna went to a control room where Val began typing madly on a
keyboard. As she typed, she explained what she was doing.
"I'm having a satellite track the signal on his communicator.
Like I said before, as long as it has power, we can find him."
"How ling should it take?" asked Lorna.
"Hmmm...it should be telling us now. I'll try a different search
parameter..." A minute passes. "Nothing."
"That's not a good thing, is it?" asked Alex.
"Ummm...no. Either the power in the unit is out or the signal is
shielded."
"How are we going to find him then?" queried Lorna.
"Other ways. Just a sec..." Val pulled out a cellular phone and
quickly dialed a number. "Baldrick! Where in the heck are you!?! ...
I don't care, you should be here! ... Never mind ...
Just stay where you are. You can do what I want just as well there ...
Yeah, yeah ... Okay, listen. I need you to put a search out on Jamie
Madrox ... Just any sign of him ... Okay, good. Bye."
"You're having Baldrick look for him," said Alex doubtfully.
"No. He's just alerting agents to do it. Right now, there's not
much else we can do."
