But, you see, it _did_ work.  Ranma can do the Cat-Fist.  That's the plot
hole.

Um hate to tell you this, but it never said that it didn't work.  It just
said that only an idiot would use that training technique.  Obviously it
works but at the cost of the child's sanity.  That's why only an idiot
like Genma would do something like that.  I for one am surprised that
Ranma _survived_ all of Genma's training.  But I guess you don't become
the greatest martial artist in Ranma 1/2 without some hardships.
