I recently read a Ranma 1/2 -- X-files crossover. I wasn't too impressed,
but the author wrote one and unless I can write one better I shouldn't
complain. Well here's part one.

Ranma 1/2 belongs to Rumiko Takahashi
X-Files belongs to Chris Carter

FBI Headquarters : 0900 : One Month Before Pilot

[Mulder walks into Skinner's office]

Skinner: Sit down Agent Mulder.

Mulder: What did you call me here for sir?

Skinner: I noticed your interest in the X-Files, Agent Mulder...

Mulder: And...

Skinner: I thought you might be interested in these.

[Skinner pulls out a box of from behind his desk and puts it on top of his
desk]

Mulder: What's this sir?

Skinner: Consider these an off duty project Agent Mulder. This box
contains the files for several unexplained phenomina that were too bizzare
to place in the X-Files. They seem to be perfect for your area of
expertise.

Mulder: Why me, sir?

Skinner: No one else would take them. Do you accept the assignment,
Agent Mulder?

Mulder: Yes, sir?

Skinner: You're dismissed.

[Mulder takes the box and leaves the room. As he leaves the camera does a
close-up on the box. The label on the box reads: The X/2 Files.]

The X (Half) Files
a Ranma -- X-Files crossover fanfic
Part 1
Version 1.0

FBI Headquarters : 1000 : (I'm not sure where this would fit into the
X-Files time line)

[Scully walkes into Mulders office. Mulder is shuffeling through a small
pile of boxes. He looks up and sees Scully.]

Mulder: Hi Scully.

Scully: Hi Mulder. What do we have for today?

[Mulder grabs a box and puts it on his desk]

Mulder: We don't have anything. So I decided to work on a pet project of
mine. You can come along if you're interested.

Scully: (indicating the box) What's this?

Mulder: It's part of that pet project I was talking about.

[Scully looks at it for a moment, then looks back at Mulder, one eyebrow
raised]

Scully: The X-Half-Files, Mulder?

Mulder: I take it you've heard of them?

Scully: These are the case files of those unexplained incidents too
bizzare, even for the X-Files right?

Mulder: Right.

Scully: (shaking her head) and you're investigating them. Why am I not
surprised.

Mulder: You don't have to come along for this one if you don't want to.
Frankly this one _I_ was skeptical about and I wrote it off as a hoax.
Except that it kept being reported. Now it's at the point where I need to
close this file before it takes over the room!

Scully: Takes over the room? I thought they were all in this box?

Mulder: Nope. Most of the boxes in this room are devoted to the
X-Half-Files. After awhile I put most of them in storage and only kept
the ones I was working on in here. But this one takes up _a lot_ of
space. The only one that takes up more is about a group of girls in
sailor outfits fighting monsters out of nowhere!

Scully: (shaking her head and sighing) So let's see what you've got. If
_you're_ skeptic about it...

[Mulder smirks at her, turns out the light, and turns on the slide
projector]

[First Slide: Ranma's school photo]

Mulder: This is Ranma Saotome, male, age 16. He's a Junior attending
Furnikan High School in the Nerima District of Tokyo and lives at the home
of one Soun Tendo.

[Second Slide: Ranma-chan in Rythmic Gymnastics Tournament with Kodachi]

Mulder: This is also Ranma Saotome, female, apparently age 16, apparently
a Junior attending Furnikan High School, and apparently living in the home
of Soun Tendo.

Scully: Why do you say "apparently"? If this is the mystery it's obvious
that the two of them are twins.

Mulder: I say apparently, because there are no records of a female Ranma
Saotome. There's a birth record for the male Ranma, but there isn't one
for the female Ranma. It's as if she doesn't exist.

Scully: That could be a filing error...

Mulder: I could understand that for one record, but she has no birth
certificate, no school record, nothing. And the first time she was _ever_
seen was in the Nerima district. The male Ranma has a birth certificate,
and school records, the schools are all over Japan, but the records are
there. He disapears for a time at around the age of 13 and reappears in
the Nerima District about a year ago. This is the same time that the
female Ranma makes her appearance.

[Third Slide: Japanese newspaper article; picture of Ranma-chan fighting
Genma-panda (Volume 1 of the manga)]

Mulder: This is the first documented appearance of the female Ranma. The
article is about a panda escaping from the zoo. Apparently the female
Ranma fought with the panda, and was winning, until the panda hit her on
the head with a street sign and walked off with her and her belongings.

Scully: Why would she be fighting a _panda_! Why would it hit her on the
head with a street sign! And why, in the world, would it walk away with
her _and_ her belongings! That doesn't make any sense.

[Mulder turns the lights back on]

Mulder: It makes even less sense when you realize that the panda in
question did _not_ escape from the zoo. I checked, there haven't been any
animal escapes from that zoo for several years.

Scully: So you're telling me that a panda appears out of nowhere. Fights
with a girl who, for all legal purposes doesn't exist. And walks away
with her and her belongings.

Mulder: As I said. It's bizzare even for me. And that's just the tip of
the iceberg. There are reports of people turning into animal, people
pulling large objects out of nowhere, the appearance of monsters, and
more! What's worse is that most of these reports come from multiple
sources complete with photographs that have been verified as authentic.
Strange as it may seem everything in this file seems to be true.

Scully: What do the two Ranma Saotome's have to do with anything?

Mulder: They're _always_ there. Without fail, one or the other is at the
scene of these bizzare occurances, most of the time actively
participating.

Scully: So what's the connection?

Mulder: I don't know. In fact I have no idea, but I did notice another
thing.

Scully: What?

Mulder: The two Ranma's are _never_ seen together. When one appears, the
other disapears, almost as if they were the same person...

OK this is the end of part one. Part 2 will take Mulder and Scully to
Nerima District, Tokyo to investigate the strange occurances there. I
don't remember who wrote other Ranma/X-files Crossover but Mulder and
Scully seemed a little too wacky for my taste (what can I say, I'm a
purist!) But I coudn't come up with anything better so I kept my mouth
shut. I've noticed that recent X-File episodes have had Scully being more
and more accepting of the bizzare. The X-Half-Files are an attempt to
explain why. (You watch the Jusenkyo curses in action and see if your
tolerance of the bizzare doesn't go up.)
