How many times do I have to say it? The character development

There is, however, no such thing preventing fanfiction authors
from broaching these subjects. There's nothing forcing you to
like the story. However, that doesn't give you any right to
call it "flawed" or "wrong". If you don't like this story, fine.
Go write fanfics the way _you_ think they should be done until
the cows come home. Point out _legitimate_ weaknesses in other
people's stories. But don't try to make others write stories the
way you think they should be written. That kind of thinking _is_
flawed and wrong.

I just wanted to say, "Hear, hear." My whole problem with Redneck's
arguments is that he's proceeding from an assumption that the characters
can only be interpreted in one way, and that any other interpretation is
wrong. That, in my opinion, is not a good way to say that. Any other
interpretation is *different*. And equally valid, because there is no
*right* or *wrong* way to interpret the characters, especially as
inconsistently as RT portrays the characters in Ranma 1/2.

So I would prefer that Redneck, rather than saying Zen is wrong, just
say that his interpretation is different.

Me, I celebrate our differences. I don't agree with some of Zen's
characterizations, but I still enjoyed the story. I'd hate to live in a
world where we all thought the same, where there was only one "right"
and "wrong". We are all *different*, and that's what makes life special
and interesting.

Oh, dear. I'm ranting again.

Me, too. :) Anyway, well said, Sean.
