This was my first story, and this has been a pretty discouraging return on

As some other people noted, don't panic. It takes *time* to read a story,
let alone do good C&C, and for that reason I do a lot less than I'd like;
right now I've got a backlog of close to 100 'fics that I want to read
and do at least a little comment on. I'm hoping to get a little done when
I do the volunteer bit at the local public radio pledge drive. :)

I don't read Tenchi, for the simple fact I know nothing about it. As to
C&C... it takes a while for people to C&C if they ever do. I've just
started C&Cing people. My first story never got any C&C, I got response
for my second story and it was generally good.

Also true; generally, it takes a story or two before people start
noticing you. And given that the story arrived in the middle of a literal
deluge of messages and stories when the FFML restarted, it's easy to get
lost in the shuffle. Give things a week to settle down, and give people a
chance to get caught up, and see how it comes out.

More people may be finding out about Tenchi now that Pioneer is
bringing out the new series. The story line is different and may be even
better. One thing. I got the dubbed vol 1 and the subbed vol 2, the
store says when it gets the subbed vol 1 I can trade back for it.
Tenchi's voice in the dubbed version is *terrible*. Straight out of
Mayberry.

Agreed on the dub voices; some of them just grate on me, particularly
Tenchi's voice and Aeka's. Tenchi is a series I like a lot, and would
like to see more 'fics for -- but it's fairly hard IMHO to get the tone
right. I liked Ryan Matthews' Mihoshi's Academy Days 'fic, and the Tenchi
bits Jimbo's put into Dance of Shiva. Probably one of the
funniest/silliest I've seen is one someone put across the Tenchi ML,
where Tenchi hires Bean Bandit to get him away from the harem...
