I thought Ranma's Neko-ken training was much earlier than that.

Memorial Book, page 33 shows the fish sausages wrapped around Ranma at
the Six years previous mark.

Actually, Nabiki shows the most interest in Ranma-san, BEFORE he
arrives.  She is quickly disappointed afterwards.  But don't worry, it's
all part of a clever plan on her part.  (I.e.: I still haven't decided
if it's Ukyou//Nabiki at the end or Ukyou//Ryouga.)
