I've a better idea. Just send the person a copy of the story instead if
you have a copy of it. If not, don't stick your nose into the thread.
There's absolutely no reason for anyone to jump through the kinds of hoops
you are suggesting just to get a copy of a fanfic. I know I wouldn't go
though the trouble of doing so....
I suppose this means that it's 'jumping through too many hoops' to go to,
say, ftp.std.com to the anime fanfiction archive to pick up older fiction,
instead of asking 'does anyone know where I can get a copy of
<such-and-so>?'.
I admit that the fanfic remailer can be a pain. But look at the sheer
volume of people who asked for 'Transitions' recently. The list could
have been cut down on traffic rather impressively if people had just
checked the remailer. Or the people who posted 'could someone send me all
the posts I missed since <x date>'... that's where the remailer really
comes in handy.
Yes, if I have a copy of a fanfic handy, I'll send it to those people. I
kept Transitions on hand, so I've sent it out to a fair number of people.
But in reply to your comment to 'keep your nose out of the thread'
otherwise... people requesting copies of fanfics should never HAVE to be a
thread in and of themselves...that's the point.
