Sailor Moon Alpha
Part 1: “We meet again”
by Mike Ray
A beautiful fall day, no tests, which was great for Usagi until she met
Rei by the gates in the front of the school. The arguments, like some
perfectly tuned watch, started the same time and place every day since
Chibi-Usa had left to go back home in the future. Most of the time it
was stupid things, but Rei always seemed to provoke them as though she
got some thrill out of aggravating Usagi. Today was no different when
she started with a comment about Usagis’ eating habits after she had
picked up a bag of strawberry biscuits on the way home.
“I am sick of these arguments,” Usagi started after she had put in her
two cant about her eating. “Can’t we just walk home without having to
be at each others’ throat. Quite frankly, I’m getting tired of it.”
“OK, I’ll stop,” said Rei. This answer took Usagi by surprise and her
jaw dropped, but being Usagi, she could not let this opportunity to rub
it in pass.
“I knew you would see it my way sooner or....” Usagi was interrupted by
Rei.
“Don’t get the wrong idea. I don’t feel like arguing today. Even
though I love the look on your face when you get mad.” Rei said while
picking up the pace and running in front of her friend.
“Why you little...” Usagi said as she started running and dropped the
biscuits on the ground. “Stop Rei. Come back here and I’ll show you
how mad I can be. I can’t imagine why you could be so mean.”
“Well someone has to keep you on your toes now that Chibi-Usa is gone.”
Rei yelled as she ran away.
As Usagi ran to try and catch up with Rei, she passed Makoto jogging the
other way. She looked forward to see Rei was too far for her to catch
so she turned around and ran to catch up with Mako.
“Stop!” Usagi yelled, puffing while she stopped and fell to her knees.
“Mako-chan!”
Makoto turned around and met the exhausted Usagi. “You need to get more
exercise,” She started as she starred down at her friend.
“Hey, what is that supposed to mean,” Usagi popped up into Makos’ face.
“Not you too. Are you calling me fat?”
“So what was the argument about this time? You haven’t ran after Rei
like that in a while.” Makoto asked as if ignoring Usagis’ anger.
Usagi started her line of gripes, as usual, and Mako stood there and
looked like she was actually listening, as usual. After a couple of
minutes something caught the corner of her eye in the alley beside
them. She looked into the darkness, but shrugged it off as nothing.
Before she could put her attention on Usagi again, a whack on the back
of the head reminded her.
“Hey, why did you do that for?” Makoto asked while massaging the back of
her head which was a little sore.
“You were not even listening to me. You were just staring into space
like you don’t even care about me.” Usagi whined.
“You couldn’t be closer to the truth,” Makoto said to herself and then
she saw usagi start to cry. “I was listening to you...... really, I
was.”
Just then, someone jumped from the shadows of the alley and grabbed
Makoto from behind. She managed to squirm away, grabbed Usagi and run
with her still having no clue with what was going on.
“Time to get serious Usagi,” Mako said as she let go of her arm while at
the same time thinking that serious and Usagi in the same sentence was a
bad word choice. “I think we got trouble.”
“OK,” Usagi said as she wiped the tears from her eyes and seeing a
stranger running toward them. The person was adorned in a long, hooded
black cape that hid his face. “I think this guy should be taught some
manners. Let’s do it.”
With that, they ran more until they were at a safe distance from their
follower and transformed to Sailor Moon and Sailor Jupiter.
They both turned around to find the person standing right in front of
them with his hood blown off from the chase. He had blond,
shoulder-length, hair that hung over most of his face. His attire was a
vaguely familiar gray uniform with red trim and gold buttons. The only
thing out of the ordinary was an unfamiliar medallion hanging from his
neck. The man seemed to be hovering above the ground as if flying, but
only a couple of inches. Without and movement on his part, he drifted
toward the two with his arms crossed. Both scouts ran a bit more to put
some air between them and made sure to keep a safe distance away.
“Hey, look who came from the Dark Kingdom yard sale,” Jupiter commented
to Sailor Moon. “I never knew those uniforms were so easy to get. All
the bad guys must shop at the same store.”
“Hey buddy,” Sailor Moon yelled to the hovering stranger. “I don’t mean
to burst your bubble, but that style died a long time
ago......Literally,”
“Oh, yes,” the man said as he drifted slowly toward the two, but Sailor
Moon and Jupiter kept their distance. “I remember you destroyed the
Dark Kingdom. Humph....” he looked toward the sky for a moment then
directed more attention to the two as his voice got more a sense of
urgency. “You didn’t think I knew about that, did you? And for the
uniform, I find it quite comfortable.” After saying that, the man,
without notice, raised his hand to point directly toward Sailor Moon and
a bolt of electricity originated from it and toward her. Before it
reached the scouts, the bolt veered away and melted a nearby lightpost.
“That was just a warning. Next time I will not miss,” the man said as
he lowered his hand. “If you give me what I came for, I might let you
live. I’ve come for the head piece of the Staff of Alnilam. Now give
it to me!”
“This guy is cracked,” Sailor Moon said silently to Jupiter. “Doesn’t
he know who we are?”
“In the matter of fact, I do,” The man answered as Sailor Moons face
grew long with embarrassment for the fact he actually heard her. “I
know exactly who you are and unless I counted wrong, I only see two of
you and one of me. Excuse me if I am not scared out of my wits, but I
doubt you will be any challenge for me. Now if you do not mind, I would
like the head now,” The man said gritting his teeth and obvious anger in
his voice. “I am running out of patience.”
“Arrogant and impatient. Not a good combination if you ask me,” Moon
said to Jupiter in a lower voice than the statement earlier, but then
she directed her attention to the stranger and sounded like she was
getting a little flustered. “I do not know what you are talking about,
but we don’t have a staff or a head of Alnilam. If I did, I would not
give it to you anyway because you do not seem the kind to keep
promises.”
“Do you get our drift blondie,” Jupiter added. “Get lost!”
“What a pity. Now I will have to go though the undue stress of killing
you and getting what I want by force. I hoped you would of at least
helped an old friend in need. Or did you forget about me already.”
With a flick of his wrist, his hands began to glow with an eerie green
aura and an unsteady wind picked up around him as if was originating
from his hands. The winds were strong enough to lift the strangers’
hair from his face and blow back.
Both Sailor Moon and Jupiter saw the strangers full face from the first
time. Even though this was an insignificant addition to the knowledge
of a nemesis to Jupiter whom was taking a battle stance, Moon froze in
place and her jaw dropped. Sailor Moon could not believe her eyes when
she rubbed them and saw the same man in front of her whose identity now
has been made much too clear.
“Jadeite!?!”
“Who?” Jupiter looked at Sailor Moon. “You know this freak?”
“Uhmmm...,” Moon said scratching her head. “It’s a long story, but I
don’t think now is the time for a big story. Jadeite does not seem like
he wants to take a time out for a chat right now .” Just then a bolt
came toward Jupiter and Moon pushed her out of the way in time.
The battle involved a lot of running, mostly on Sailor Jupiter and
Moon’s part, while Jadeite followed them effortlessly and demanding an
item the two scouts knew nothing about. Both scouts used their attacks
to no avail as they discpated just as they reached him as if he had a
forcefield. After a couple of circles around the block, Jadeite stopped
and outstretched his arm and opened his palm toward the running scouts.
Both Moon and Jupiter stopped dead in their tracks and fell to the
ground as if they hit a wall. “I have been playing with you for far too
long,” Jadeite said in a much calmer tone. “It is obvious you do not
want to cooperate. There is one way I see fit to end this setback.
Something I should of done a long time ago if it hadn’t been for Queen
Beryl’s hasty actions. I had you in my clutches.... Usagi.”
“How do you know about this?”
“I’ve always known. Ever since last we met at that unforgettable
airport. I am hurt you don’t remember that little incident. Enough of
the small talk, I want the head of Alnilam now. If you give it to me, I
might just forget about this encounter.”
Just then a red rose flew down and cut Jadeites’ glove and blood started
to appear on the pearly white gloves. “Your not getting anything
Jadeite,” came a voice from a nearby rooftop. The figure jumped down
and started to walk toward him.
“Tuxedo Kamen,” Jadeite said clenching his now injured hand. “What a
coincidence seeing you here. Today has turned out better than I
expected, because as you can remember, we have some catching up to do.
I have an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone.... no, make that
three birds with one stone.” Jadeite said as he glanced towards the two
scouts whom were still pinned to the ground.
“I don’t know why you came back, but you better leave before you wish
you never returned.”
“Is that a threat or a promise, because I am going to enjoy watching you
suffer. I have been away too long , but one thing I have not forgotten
is the way you have insulted my honor,” Jadeite said as he clinched his
fists and they began to glow.
“Not this time Jadeite,” Tuxedo Mask said as he got ready for his duel
with Jadeite. He looked behind him toward to two scouts who were still
not able to get up. This meant Jadeite was stronger and his power did
not diminish even if he was distracted. Just then a strange voice
interrupted them.
“Jadeite!” the voice said in a slightly angered tone. “I thought I told
you not to proceed until everyone was informed. We can not go into such
a venture half-cocked. Come back now or I might have to bring you back
myself, and I assure you the trip will not be comfortable.”
“I understand perfectly Obsidian. I am so sorry....I misunderstood
you,” Jadeite said to the voice then turned his attention toward the two
scouts. “You have escaped death this time, but do not think for one
second you have seen the last of me. The Dark Kingdom may be dead, but
I am not.” With that he vanished in a blink of an eye and both scouts
took a big sigh of relief and got up.
“Sailor Moon,” Tuxedo Kamen said as he ran to Moon. “Are you all
right?”
“I think so,” Sailor Moon said wiping the dirt off herself. “...But
Jadeite is back and he is a lot stronger for all I can see. I think we
should watch our back for the next few days.”
“Your right,” Tuxedo Kamen said in a cautious tone. “I’ll walk you two
home.” All three changed back to their “street cloths” and walked to
Usagis’ house where they met Ami whom was waiting to tutor her and help
with her plummeting science grades.
To be continued in Part 2: “Revelations”. We will see what the bad guys
are planning to do and we will discover the enjoyment of eating
condiments.
