Some random thoughts on this story:

I was never much for Olivia Newton-John, but the song you're using is
probably my favorite of hers. I'm not sure at this point exactly how
it fits into your story, though. I guess we'll see.

The whole discussion near the beginning about the various pairings
that could have been, what role did the magic play, etc. seemed to me
kinda long and pointless. How can they be so pedantic at a time like
this? Maybe it's there to foreshadow something else that's going to
happen?

There are a lot of second generation characters introduced. It's a
little hard to keep track of all of them. Some of them, like Ryoga's
and Kasumi's kids, I don't feel I know too well yet. Maybe if I go
back and re-read the whole thing more slowly I will get to know them.
Anyway, I'm glad that at least one of the characters (Ukyo) is not
married with children; for variety's sake if nothing else. Are we
going to meet Kodachi's new family?

The suspense is building, and I'm eager to see the next part. Ranma
and company are going up against a foe that may be the most powerful
they've faced. To win it may take everything they've got.

Is it interesting or exciting or compelling? All of the above.
