Okay, I've tired of this. I asked a friend,
all Japanese apartment
complexes are called "Mansions"... Sorta like "Terminal Hotel"
That's true. But Maison Ikkoku is "Maison", not "Mansion."
DO'H I was asleep when I wrote that... "Maison" is an example of how the
Japanese can't handle some English sound combinations (sorta like how we
can't handle the Japanese 'R' without a lot of effort). Sorry for not
explaining properly...
BTW: an apartment itself is called a "One Room Apartment"
Depends on the place. I've usually just seen "apaato" as the generic,
and then 2DK or 1DK or whatever for the type of place.
My goof again... the phrase in English they use is "One Room Mansion"
heh, I've really gotta stop writing e-mails concerning the language I've
been enjoying to study for the past year when I'm too tired to think... ^_^
